    This is an extremely useful video which provides information in easily assimilated bite-sized chunks.

    Just another comment. Went through all three videos in the D3500 set up series before picking up the camera (see below), then again with the camera today to ensure it's set up properly. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, I would have been completely lost without them. Now set up and ready to go. Also have seen you videos on aperture, ISO and shutter speed. So armed with the camera (pledged never to use in auto - my old default setting) I'm off to snap away for some practice and off on hols (vacation) next week. Thank you again for the excellent instructional videos - priceless.

    I bought this camera a month ago and have been trying to figure out how to shoot black and white stills in manual. I was able to get most of the info from the manual, but this video answered two questions that I couldn't figure out. I went through about ten videos before I saw this one. Thanks so much for helping.

    Hey there! Great video, I'm picking this up as my first DSLR and it was really informative and helpful. I do have a question, what are you using to capture your camera, and do you know how this camera or other dslrs would hold up for streaming?

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for asking. I'm capturing my camera information from an Atomos Ninja Blade connected to the camera. You could stream out through the HDMI cable provided you have an appropriate interface device. Blackmagic has several that do the job well.

      @@CameraLessonsOnline thank you for your response! I know that people have said things about sensor burn in keeping the mirror open is that still an issue in modern dslrs?

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not seen an issue with damage from sensor burnout. That said, you will see the camera overheat from leaving it in live view mode. I expect the D3500 to overheat in perhaps 20 or so minutes. If you don't let it cool down afterwards you are not likely to damage the camera but you will overheat again very quickly, say a few minutes. This is not my favorite camera for serious streaming or video work as a result. But the camera goes into overheating mode to save it from damage.

    After we set this up like you have do we shoot pics in P mode or switch back to A on the dial on top of the camera? Thanks

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. The choice of exposure mode is really all about your level of comfort. What I showed you would work in any programmable mode (P,A,S, or M). I shoot exclusively in manual mode, myself, but I would advise shooting in as manual an exposure mode as you are comfortable with and growing from there. I do have a five part series introducing exposure theory and exposure modes (it starts with a discussion of shutter speed and each video links to the next). I encourage you to check that out. Thanks for watching.

    awesome info thanks. by chance can the camera light be turned on while taking videos and is there a way to increase the video time as opposed to being giving rhe default which I think is 20 minutes. btw can the camera accept a terabyte card or 256 gig? my camera came with a 32 gig card.

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The light is actually an auto-focus illumination light and as such isn't designed as a video light. So you cannot turn it on while shooting video, only to assist the AF in a dark stills environment. You cannot extend the video shooting time in the camera, sorry. The card slot is an SDXC and as such it will work with a 256G card. I've never tried a 1T card (and I think it's a little overkill) but I see no reason it would not work. Thanks again.

    Wait does the thing In the top with the N next to it mean

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, what screen are you looking at when you see the N (e.g. shooting, quick menu, etc.)? I want to make sure I'm looking at the same thing you are so I can give you an accurate answer?

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me know if I'm looking at the wrong icon, but if it's the rectangle with the N inside, that is vignetting correction set to normal. There is also an N that stands for normal compression when looking at image quality.

    How can I of auto iso in d3500

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Inside your shooting menu you'll find the ISO setting option and inside of there is a setting for turning ISO Auto on or off. Please note, you need to be in a programmable mode for this to appear. Thanks.

    It isn't clear to me how in 48th second we could actually get on to that Menu page.

    • @CameraLessonsOnline
      @CameraLessonsOnline  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is not a menu page, it's actually the information screen when shooting. If you press your quick menu or info button you should see it. It's the info you see before pressing a menu button.
