I hit a dear at 60 mph on a highway overpass, in the dark, a few days ago in my wife’s 2014 Toyota Prius. The airbags deployed and the Prius was totaled. We had no injuries and are happy with Toyota’s commitment to build safe cars. I decided to stick with Toyota so I just replaced it with a 2024 Camry.
That test scenario is called CMovertaking and we conduct this test with a motorcycle in the adjacent lane, either at equal speed or overtaking the test vehicle. The test vehicle is made to either "unintentionally" drift or "intentionally" change lanes into the path of the motorcycle, and the Lane Support System is assessed on whether it can successfully correct the vehicle path to avoid a collision.
Who with a bright mind would drive a car and hit it into a wall. Maybe a tree is possible. Plus, you guys turn off all the safety features like automatic breaking, collision avoidance. So, I will say this test is bias and unreliable.
Well what if the person driving goes unconscious due to a medical emergency and can't control where they are going? Ever thought of that? There are tons of scenarios where things could go wrong. What if there was a malfunction of one of the safety systems? Some people also turn off the safety systems too. You have no critical thinking skills at all lol.
@@Tritonal92 Have you ever seen a wall right in the middle of the road? If a person goes unconscious, the car will serve not go to the straight, perfect line as shown in the video
Not one bit, it’s mandated safety glass that is not sharp or dangerous when it shatters, other than possible minor grazing. All auto glass does this, it’s not at all unique to Toyota.
What are you talking about? The Camry in this video is made in Japan and imported into Australia. It’s substantially better in build quality than the z us made vehicles.
Great job by GNcap This is the deciding factor for any buyer before buying any car. Safety is utmost concern for the all sensible buyers and for that a big ton of thanks to GNcap

0:41 Where did that airbag come from? A middle airbag !! First time I see that!!
that's actually become pretty common; especially among Euro manufacturers. Japanese cars are just starting to get them
OMG you have been living under a rock its been out for over 4 years now.
Nice test. Very detailed 👍
Love ❤️ Toyota
Very very safe car
Very good safe car
What is the test name at the end of the video where there was a motorcycle (bike) at the right side of the Camry?
They call it EMERGENCY LANE KEEPING (ELK) TEST

You can get rammed into one from behind
The glass? unbelievable, it is so unsafe
It was rated 5 stars with an 87% rating for children’s safety during side impact. It is normal for some glass to enter vehicles during a side impact
@@ThrillzDino that was such a weird thing for them to focus on and call unsafe

Tinting your windows will help contain most of it. I'm speaking from experience.
Curtain airbags should not be deploying in a front-on impact only a side impact.
I prefer Toyota Camry US Spec since Japan no longer make camry
I think it’s depends on your country, because Middle East version it manufacturing in Japan
