My newer phone died and I had to use my backup Pixel 4a and I remember why this phone is such a great small phone. Headphone jack, small weight, small size, plus an easy point and shoot camera is what makes this phone a champ.
I wish I had the same experience, but greedy me went for the iPhone 12 mini AND Zenfone 9 🥲 (Both are great phones, ngl, but now that I have both, I'm realizing I don't need all the bells and wistles from flagship phones, and even some tend to get overhyped)
I really miss the 3a squeeze functionality. Sadly the screens on them were super fragile. Broke 3 screens in a year dropping it on carpet from 2 feet or so 😢
Every phone I've had since then, I go back to this every time. Just wish the camera held up in the video department. Best phone I've ever owned and keep it now as a spare but it's just the very best phone I've ever had
The only thing i don't like about it is the video and there is no wide camera. The speed is perfect and the weight is very light. I really like that is very handy.
Yeah I guess an alternative option would be the Pixel 5a although I hear there's some display issues. That gives you a much bigger battery, if you don't mind the bigger display. Pixel 5 doesn't have the headphone jack which is an annoyance
I am currently using Pixel 6a. Would it be wise to downgrade to the pixel 5 of course getting a few extra bucks at the same time? I hate phones with big screens and all these new phones with 6'7 to 6'9 inch screens fooled me into making assumptions that a 6'1 inch such as pixel 6a is a small phone which isn't! Cannot even fit them in my joggers without having to pull my pants up every minute. Pixel 4a, 5 and iphone 12 mini are my options
@@lordjesselingardinho2193 just know that Pixel 5 has stopped receiving software/security updates and it has a smaller battery which is starting to show it's age. If u don't care about any of those, then go for the Pixel 5. IMO if u are okay switching between IOS or Android then go for the iPhone 13 mini.
@@lordjesselingardinho2193 6.1 inch to 6.0 isnt really worth it. also pixel 6a is better than a pixel 5. you could go to an iphone 13 mini but i would just stay at the 6a
It's really one of the only last options if you want something small. Pixel 3 is the same size basically but is on Android 12, doesn't have the time lapse Astrophotography feature. But it does have wireless charging, a better chip and squeeze for assistant. If you just want the capacitive fingerprint sensor and the plastic build, pixel 5a Is still technically on its last leg of support and got Android 14. But I have heard there's been some display issues so it's kind of a lottery ticket on the resale market. The other options are a ZenFone 10 or 9 or s24 base model. Pixel 8 is smaller these days or the Pixel A series but they're all just so much heavier.
I have the Zenfone 9 and the iPhone 12 mini. They both are great phones for those who love either ecosystem. Yet I'd say the ZF9 has less features than a Pixel, so technically is pure Android (what I've been used to) vs Pixel Experience (which one day I might test it out).
sad that i had to let go this phone i bought it in march 2021 and it lasted me exactly 3 years as i faced battery bulging and it would not turn on but i was in love with its design and camera quality it was my first pixel as well
i am totally biased because I still have this phone to this very day. Paired with my Iphone 15pro. Still 4a is still the best compact phone ever. The fingerprint is the best feature this phone have :)
Watching on my 4a, battery is going to die soon on my phone , only 2h screen time , I'm going for pixel 8, hopefully I will be same happy with new pixel as I'm with my 4a
@@luciano3368Banking apps usually don't care about security updates. But if you don't lock the boot loader... GrapheneOS still does security updates for the 4a and CalyxOS supports it too.
I finally decided to bench my 5a after 3.5 years, with pain in my heart. The performance is still amazing for everyday browsing and social media usage. Unfortunately, I broke the screen and the battery has become terrible to the point that it would only last me until about 12pm after taking it off the charger at 7am. I bought it because of the size, I wanted a phone I could use with one hand and this one did the job. But because of the battery and the lack of updates I decided to upgrade to the galaxy S24, and I have to say I'm really happy even though I'll miss my 4a.
I love the Pixel 4a for its camera and the fact that photos uploaded to Google Photos are not counted toward your quota in standard size. I've had my Pixel 4a since buying it brand new in 2021. Today it is disappointing me, mainly because the battery has degraded so much that it is almost useless. I wish I could buy another one brand new with a fresh battery, or better yet if this and all smart phones went back to user replaceable batteries like my old Samsung Galaxy J7 which works just fine on its third battery since I bought it in 2016.
Absolutely goated phone. Still has everything a "normal" user needs. Great camera, perfect size, weight, headphones, finger print sensor. Not looking forward to changing it next year even though the Pixel 8a looks like it will be a "similar" size.
Yeah, I'm deciding whether to replace the battery or go for a 8a. The performance isn't as great as I'd like it to be on the 4a, but still fine. The battery is only at 71% of its design capacity, so 2100mAh instead of 3000mAh, which is the actual problem. Replacing it doesn't seem worth it though, as I don't want to use it for another year.
Refurbished or new? Cuz I was looking at this phone. I’m using an iPhone and want to switch to android it’s so many options for android so idk what to get. I’m not trying to burn my pockets either.
The original is going to set you back at least 10K if you get it done from an official store. If you put a fake one your phone won't be the same. You can either pick up a new phone or lose 10k on the screen if you don't want that. I recently had to replace my screen as well after damaging it when playing sports, it was very painful on the wallet and a lesson learned.
Pixel 4a was the last great mid range pixel due to it's great camera, design and near flagship performance thanks to Googles optimizations.
So so true

still the best form factor and with LineageOS it supports Android 14 the last version
Why I want to pick one up to try.
I bought it in sept 21 and still using it. Works fine...
One of the greatest phones ever made. Especially with android 11. I have never used a phone that operated as smooth as that. 3a is a close second.

4a 5G version has an ultra-wide camera, and yeah Pixel video has always lagged behind the competition in general.
I literally sold my Xperia 1V and bought a Pixel 4a because I missed the compact size. I plan on rooting it.
Still a solid phone. Enjoyed the video 👍
Am i the only sucker for the Pixel 4a/5/5a design?
