My family was upgraded for free to concierge a few weeks ago on the Wonder. It was amazing! The room wasn't any bigger (deluxe family w/veranda), but the amenities and the staff was amazing. Definitely a magical moment for us. I'm just a teacher, so concierge is something I thought I'd never experience. 🙂
I waited to post this because I know it is probably not going to be a popular comment. I watched because I am leaving on the Fantasy in May. We had 3 cruises cancelled because of COVID and we are thrilled to be finally be able to go. My sister and I are retired, and my niece is handicapped both physically and mentally. She has been asking for 2 years when we are going on the "boat". I am happy for the people who can afford concierge level and who can go jewelry shopping at the ports. We can't and that's OK. But I wanted to hear about the stage shows, activities on the ship, pools and the characters - things that we can do. It's OK to tell people who are interested in upgrading what may be available, but it was a very large part of the review. Maybe there could be separate videos that are truly an overview of the ships and things that are available on the cruise.
Hubby and I did the Transatlantic from Dover to NY in 2019. Our 4th Disney cruise, we had never done Palo before, 2nd night tried Palo, loved it! Loved our server! We booked for another night. This was our servers last cruise, he worked for DCL for 17 yrs, sent money home and he and his brother opened a business that he was going home to run after this cruise. I can only pray that COVID didn’t ruin his business. Speaking of praying, my prayers go out to everyone involved in this conflict. Pete you need to review a Transatlantic.
Love the update!! We have been shopping at Goldmine Jewelers in St. Thomas for years! I have bought several pieces from them. I'm so happy you found them. They are a lovely couple!!
Thanks for the review. I am looking forward to the content you made on that trip. We will be on the same trip in may. Hopefully they make some BIG changes with the food thanks to your video.
Pete your shoes were Fire that you wore to Palos,we were seated behind you at Palo and when you took a bite of the ossobucco it was the greatest. As a did fan watching you do your food reviews was awesome. John was soo nice we talked to him in the hallway outside royal court. Jen Kvidera- Lentsch is great. This was my first Disney cruise and some things were great others not Soo much but the special touches from Jen were great. It was our honeymoon cruise and then getting to watch you guys do your review it was the best trip.
I just went to Palo in May 2023 on Fantasy. I wanted my money back. Horrible. Remy was the best! The Best meal I've ever eaten. And most expensive! Great experience.
Ok. Thank you! Your review finally makes me feel better about how I felt about the food on the fantasy. This was a few years ago. I also got the onion soup. Must of been the same batch! Shrimp cocktail……… one baby shrimp on top of a mug of shredded lettuce! I was so tired of pre made food.
Dammit, I wish I'd seen this before. We were on the October 8th sailing of the Fantasy and the best I can say about the MDR food is that it was....available? But not good. Even Cabanas was ok at best, with some scattered bright spots. The V8 Cafe on Deck 11 was good but it was so odd on how poor the food was in general everywhere else.
We watched this a week before going on the Fantasy, and we're happy we did. You toned down our expectations on the food and you were VERY right. The food was outright disappointing, and I'm talking the food in the main dining rooms. We did not try Palo or Remy (we have little ones). I am also not talking about Cabanas because that was actually consistently good. But for dinner, the food was disappointing, the lobster bisque looked and tasted like a tomato soup with a chunk of lobster. My husband's sashimi was served completely frozen. Cannot say the same about desserts... the dessert Chef is saving the night for sure.
I thought that was you I saw in the smoking area. Definitely have to agree about the food quality in royal court. It doesn't matter how good the serving staff is (and they are always outstanding) if the food isn't cooked right there isn't much they can do. This is our 2nd sailing on the Fantasy since the shutdown and I was wondering what happened as it didn't compare to our previous cruises.
Ok Pete, it's time for you to go to Wal-Mart and buy their brand of nicotine lozenges to stop smoking. They are cheaper than Nicorette and cheaper than cigarettes. Very easy to quit using the lozenges. Remember to store the lozenge in your cheek. You get the nicotine through the mucous membranes only which means the lozenge either has to go under your tongue or in your cheek in order for the nicotine to reach your bloodstream. It doesn't do any good if it goes to your stomach. You will just get an upset stomach. Another pro tip: it takes 30 minutes for the lozenge to reach the bloodstream so make sure to use it consistently in order to keep the nicotine level in your bloodstream. Try it!
I’ve always booked veranda staterooms, but I was so curious about this Magic porthole I booked an inside cabin on my next cruise in August. Then an Oceanview on my Dec cruise. May as well stay in each type of room to give an honest comparison.
@@mindyschocolate we just got off the Disney Fantasy on May 7th. We had a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Veranda. It was outstanding but I also had an adjoining room with my daughter who had infant twins and a four and seven year old. The older children stayed with Nana. I have never had a porthole room but my sister was upgraded from her GTY and I like her room a lot too. Let’s face it, being on a cruise and a Disney Cruise to boot, it’s all magic.
I wonder if the change in food quality is a staffing issue. Not necessarily the amount of staff but the inexperience. With so many furloughed cast members coming back you are getting a lot of cast members from other areas. There is likely not enough cms that have been making these dishes for years.
Ugh. I went on the Magic out of Galveston in 2012, and the food was so bad that all I could eat was melon and bread. I have not been back on a Disney ship since then :( Holland, Crystal, and EVEN Carnival were WAY better for food. Hoping Disney can improve on the food front. That was my ONLY complaint.
FYI we were told this cruise has 2100 people so greater than 50% full but it was Presidents’ Day week so likely an oddball but with spring break coming that percent likely going to normalize
I’m disheartened hearing about the food on the Fantasy. I’ve taken several Disney cruises, but I have my first Fantasy cruise finally booked and I’m hearing this.
Is it possible they are having trouble getting enough employees and/or supply chain issues? I keep thinking about the cruise where Pete said the chef wouldn't come out and talk to him. I wonder if it's because there is no chef and they have other staff making the food. And maybe they didn't get their shipment of onions for the soup? Not excusing it, but it could be the reason. We don't even go to restaurants near our home anymore because it's all new people and they're always out of ingredients.
As a resident of Las Vegas, the quality of food in the restaurants (regardless of price) have deteriorated. I believe they can just raise the prices so much, then they cut quality, unfortunately.🙄🙄
I don't think it's right that the Cast Away Club levels are based on cruises and not on cruise nights. Why is a 3 day cruise valued that same as an 8 day day cruise? I only take that longer cruises but someone who has less nights on DCL is a higher Cast Away Club level. Most other cruise lines have switched over to night not cruises for that very reason.
@@GypsyNana67 not really. The majority of people dressed up but there were no pirate activities besides the characters in their pirate costumes. The Star Wars fireworks were actually on pirate night. The weird thing was our survey asked us how we enjoyed the “buccaneer bash“ so that was fun to rate. If you do not have a Star Wars day my gut tells me you will probably have a more exciting pirate experience than we did I feel they used Star Wars as an excuse to not do pirate
Bad food at that price? Just got off 12 nights on Celebrity Equinox and not a bad bite of food. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked in the main dining room and the buffet and a much lower price tag
I don’t fuss over food. I’ve cruises with Disney a few times before, with two more booked for this year. I’ve never had an issue with food, but if I did, the servers will gladly bring me out something else.
Ok, so here is the issue for me. The reviews are generally all adults with adults. It’s difficult to assess for interest when there aren’t reviews from parents using the child services throughout the trip.
Dude what’s up with you burping under your breath every other word?? I like your videos and content for the most part but man stop eating before you film.
We love the whole team, but Panda brings a breath of fresh air we didn't know that we needed.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... panda is a wonderful addition to the show! Love watching when he's on! He's such a pleasure!!

Panda saved Pete enough money to pay for Panda to cruise with Pete again. Great strategy!😉😂🥰
Mama didn’t raise no dummy
Lol

Leaving this Saturday!!! I can’t believe this as our initial cruise was canceled 2020.. check out the vlogs
As I mentioned was our first cruise. It was marvel day. We mentioned needed 2 days they said it’s marvel DAY at sea. But I agree. Needed 2 days.
The Podcast Cruise is going to be ridiculous. Ridiculous = Excellent!
Thank you for this! Perfect timing, going for 7 nights on the Fantasy in two weeks 😄 Can’t wait!
Darn it Pete! You talked me into buying DVC and now I need a Disney cruise!
He is terrible!😂
I love DCL talk

Was it everything or just the main entrees? If desert and appetizers are okay I can handle that dining room.

I was so disappointed that I couldn’t get an inside stateroom when I was booking 4 rooms. I love the virtual porthole.

We sailed Disney Early in the 2000’s and thought the food was underwhelming.

We just did our first cruise. It was full capacity. So no upgrades. The food we was not impressed with at all. We was on the dream.

If you do an upgrade at port does my travel agent get the credit for the extra?
You sell have a patreon?!?! Just joined 😎 🙌
We will be cruising for the first time this May. My question is is the photo package worth it?
Don't know, if any of it is worth it??
I used it and was glad, but I also love pictures so I get a ton. If you only do a handful it may not be worth it.

I was on this cruise. I agree the food was nothing special. I had a few solid meals but most were ok. Nothing gross thankfully
Did they have Pirate night? We go the end of April and hoping 🤞

Do you think they will be doing upgrades for the Hawaii sailings ?
how much is the upgrade at port?

There are other vloggers for that.
I agree. I also am having issues with a smoker giving food reviews.
Wow!!
Am I first?
Does Pete gift us with a rant today?
Do you think they're gonna lift the vaccine mandate?
No.
