Before anyone converts their Karma to gold just realize there are some goals (like crafting all legendary gen 3 variants) that can cost 30m+ karma. If thats an eventual goal don't waste karma. I probably would keep atleast 5m karma as a baseline either way though.
6:50 For the Exotic hunter achievement, you can also get it done by equipping/binding the weapon to a character. You don't have to salvage it if you wanna use it and the stats are good.

If you need spirit shards you should give WvW a go. Lot of fun and the Tomes of knowledge make it worthwhile while also doing the Gift of Battle reward track. Dragons Stand Meta also rewards with 3 daily.
