In reality, during the planning stages for Operation Downfall, it was estimated that the invasion and the subsequent campaign to pacify Japanese resistance would not only prolong the war at least another year or two, but that Allied casualties would run up to or in excess of one million. The U.S began mass producing purple heart medals in preparation, making half a million by the time the invasion was cancelled after the two atomic bombs. Those medals have been used in every American military conflict since then and even today the Downfall stockpile has not been fully used up yet.

Fucking amazing video...i really didn't expect a tiger in there... I know, that in February 1944, the Japanese paid for one tiger and were officially the owners of it at that point. But they never ever got it. He allegedly disappeared after being reassigned by the wehrmacht somewhere in France. Thank you for the vid
I think the story was that Germany donated the technical plans for a Tiger tank along with a disassembled ME-262 and a ME-163 that were placed on a U-Boat and later transfered to a Japanese submarine. A Japanese officer who was a military liason to the Germans used the trip to return home. The sub pulled into a part of the Philippines that was still under Japanese control, for refueling for the final leg of the trip back to Japan, and the officer was let off to join the fighting there. The sub continued to Japan and was sunk somewhere off the Philippines.
@@TheLAGopher they were several Yanagi Missions between Germany and Japan exchanging weapons, technology, natural resources, and even Military and technician personnel aboard each other’s Subs. In 1942 I believe at least two IJN subs sailed from Japan all the way to Lorient France where the Japanese sailors were extremely well received by not only Admiral Donitz but even Hitler himself. The subs were refitted and overhauled with better tech and engines. At least one sub made it back to Japan but several were sunk by Allied Ships. Also, Japan did in fact purchase a Tiger Tank in 1944 but was “reacquired” by the Wehrmacht.

I really enjoyed watching the end of this series! Thank you for all the effort you put into it. :) I do wonder what would of happened to emperor Hirohito in this situation. I'm actually surprised there wasn't a major tank battle on the Kanto plains. Also equally surprised by the Japanese tiger tanks, I suppose in this instance the Japanese army kept the ones they originally purchased them from Germany and remade a limited amount. I do hope you'll do more ww2 based videos, alternative history or otherwise.
@@warfare11gaming There is? But the Americans have captured Tokyo and the emperor's headquarters so surely the emperor was captured? Unless he escaped and there's still some Japanese forces left? 🤔
He'd be killed for sure. Americans HATED the Japanese and viewed them as less than human even without the invasion. In this timeline, the US troops who find Hirohito are going to be incredibly vengeful and bloodthirsty after seeing so many of their friends die. Hirohito wouldn't even be recognizable anymore after his initial contact with American troops.
Nice video. loved it (as always.) But I have a question: Why do you still use Men of War era editor and not the more realistic Gates of Hell editor? Thanks so much for all the work you do. :)
Seeing that there are experimental tanks in the movie, I think that the heavy Japanese type 5 CHI RI, the ro go and horo tank fighter with their 120 and 150 mm howitzer respectively should have been included.
Currently, the massacre of civilians by Russia is a problem in Ukraine, but the United States also slaughtered Japanese civilians using "incendiary bombs" specialized in killing civilians. The Japanese look at the United States with frosty eyes. "Stop the slaughter of civilians," which mouth is saying.
I agree that targeting civilians and non-military infrastracture in the Japanese home islands are questionable conducts by the United States' Armed Forces, but almost every country that participated in the war did so too in some form/degree or another. War crimes are almost always inevitable during wartime. And let's not forget, Japan did worse atrocities at the onset of the war and throughout in Southeast Asia, more than anybody else. There's a reason why even Japan's neighbors China and Korea still hadn't forgiven what it has done historically to them to this day. Millions have suffered in both countries as well as neighboring nations like Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia, among others, as a result of the invasion and occupation of the Imperial Japanese Forces in WW2. No wonder many around the world describe Japan's various atrocities and war crimes across the Pacific as the "Asian Holocaust". Some of America's deeds to Japan might've been bad, with the nukes and incindiary bombings in particular being the worst among them, but everything Japan did in the same context of history was worse tenfold. Let's not forget, it was Japan which brought the United States into the fold. By attacking a naval base of, mind you, a neutral country at the time, Japan basically brought all that's been slapped onto its face to itself. Who knows, maybe not aggravating a potential global superpower would've worked better towards Imperial Japan's list of agendas. But nope. Instead, it decided to sign its own death wish by choosing to bomb a few boats in Hawaii.
@@Bresonande Japan had begun its imperial program. It was a nascent power; it will need to expand. Great Britain did the same in its day. Japan tried to advance by the USSR being defeated in khalkhin goal by the red army. Seeing that it was not feasible to advance to the north, they headed south. They had already conquered an important part of China and they had possessed Korea for a long time. Japan was at its height and that prompted a strong militarism in the Japanese people, led by Hideki Tojo. A feeling of superiority began to develop in Japan and the question is why? Simple, since the mid-nineteenth century Japan had been industrializing due to the influences of Western powers, see the Japanese navy, the automobile industry, all of it came from the West. Japan industrialized thanks to it, unlike China, which was not so lucky. So we have a strong Japan that manages to defeat Russia in the Russo-Japanese War in 1905 and emerges victorious from the First World War. You know that a large part of the islands that were granted to the Japanese in the Treaty of Versailles previously belonged to the German Empire and that they were very close to the American islands. The Treaty of Versailles laid the foundation for the rivalry between the USA and Japan. In addition, Japan is never considered a first-class power by the West and that for a nascent country which was ambitious for conquest did not like it at all. An isolationist feeling and hostility against the West began to be generated since the Japanese felt discredited. And that was what influenced the strong militarism of the Japanese people who saw the West as a threat, a militarism associated with territorial expansionism and with the high command of the government. As we can identify, in Japan people began to feel superior due to the new policy that the Japanese state had taken, a country isolated for centuries now opened to the world through conquest. And so, we arrive at the 40s, with a Japan with a clear expansionist posture and a cautious United States. Do you know why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor? The empire of the rising sun received 80% of its oil from the USA. This country, seeing that Japan could threaten the Philippines and other territories, imposed a trade embargo in which a large quantity of raw materials stopped reaching Japan. Japan, with industry at full throttle and constant military expansionism, needed resources. His expansion to the north had failed, in China his army was stopped, the only viable front was to the south. The western colonies had all the resources they needed. Japan had two options, either go to war with the USA or say goodbye to its expansionism. For a nascent and ambitious power, the second option is not acceptable, that is why they went to war. If you notice, Japan went to war with the West thanks to the West itself, which never recognized Japan as a major power and placed a massive trade embargo on it. You can't ask a full steam train to slow down, and that happened with Japan. They attacked Pearl Harbor, disabling the American fleet for several months, allowing them to conquer large portions of the South Pacific. The war with Japan was the result of a terrible diplomatic policy on the part of the USA and the West, if they had improved their attitude towards the Japanese country, perhaps it would not have gone to war. The same thing happened with Russia after the fall of the USSR, it was the opportunity for the West to win over Russia's sympathy, but by concentrating more on their affairs they caused the Russian people to look badly on the West and allowed the rise of Vladimir Putin to the can. And when it comes to crimes, during World War I Japan acted in accordance with international law, without committing any major atrocities. In World War II there is a huge change, Japan hates the West because it considers it "inferior", so the Japanese empire abandons all international agreements and develops a feeling of superiority which caused the worst monstrosities. Now, why do civilians have to pay for the crimes of soldiers? The firebombing of Tokyo was a clear war crime, the intention was not to destroy industry or infrastructure, it was to destroy the entire city. Tokyo had a lot of wooden buildings, the fire spread very fast. In the allied bombers to Germany in 1944, incendiary bombs were used very rarely, only in some cases such as Dresden, but in Japan the fire was very common. Research the writings of Curtis LeMay, the man in charge of the bombing of Japan. It is not difficult to identify a clear feeling of hatred towards the Japanese, the Americans killed all Japanese soldiers, ignoring international agreements. There are even cases of American soldiers who collected Japanese skulls, as you will see they were not isolated events, the US Army committed many barbarities against an enemy that did not surrender and if he surrendered, they would kill him anyway. I do not deny Japan's atrocities, but neither do I justify the US crimes in the conflict. The bad diplomacy of the West greatly influenced the succession of events. The Japanese of those times took recognition, loyalty and respect very seriously and the West never gave it to them, it is obvious that they would be furious. sorry for the long text, but it is a topic that seems to me that needs clarification.
Funfact, even tho German tiger was never used in Japan, there was a submarine transport that was carrying some tiger 1 from Germany but it sink with unknown reason
@@eijiroinouye4115 there were couple of reason why. The Japanese military mostly favour the navy on building more warships to fight against the US pacific fleet. Lack of suitable industry factory to build a standard tank. Lack of technology for the design and maintace problem. Decreasing material supplies and also the lack of knowledge on really designing it. The Japanese don't really favour on building heavy tanks because of the muddy environment in the region they fought and often favour mostly light tank.
@@eijiroinouye4115 they did tried to build it like the O-I super-heavy tank but the war was already nearing it's end and because of the Soviet more superior anti tank weapon, it made heavy armour virtually obsolete because of it

While there was a Third A-Bomb on the way, Emperor Hirohito decides to Surrender. And while he was gonna give the Order to surrender and address his citizens, a Group of Hardliners attempted to arrest the Emperor and Continue the war but they failed.
That is true, Stalin was itching to gain as much land as he could in Asia before the war in Asia ends (they declared war against Japan before Nagasaki happened), they even planned on taking Hokkaido and invade the mainlands as well, if Japan wasn’t doing good, expect the Soviets to march downward towards Tokyo as well (would be very bloody as the Soviet soldiers had years of experience fighting the Germans, expect them to be brutal)

Great work!! Keep up the hard work!! Can't wait to see the next one!! For your next one can you have an alternate history or like the Japanese invading the United states along side the Germans as well like can you do Man In the High Castle maybe? That'd be cool and awesome!! Hope you like my idea and will do it!!!
MILLIONS would have died, both soldiers and civilians, if this had happened for real.
The streets of Tokyo would have been reduced to rubble by 1946-1947 had this happened for real.
Imagine something like the reichstag defence, but instead of the Germans defending the reichstag it's the japanese defending the imperial palace
Yeah instead Soviet who raising the flag it was American
So amazing how accurate this is even though it didn't happen
アメリカ軍あんな稚拙な攻撃しません
帝国陸軍、当時武器弾薬欠乏につき、あんな派手に撃てません
This is not the American way of fighting. It’s more bold than the Soviets in berlin.
It’s a GAME genius

Fucking amazing video...i really didn't expect a tiger in there... I know, that in February 1944, the Japanese paid for one tiger and were officially the owners of it at that point. But they never ever got it. He allegedly disappeared after being reassigned by the wehrmacht somewhere in France. Thank you for the vid
I think the story was that Germany donated the technical plans for a Tiger tank along with a disassembled ME-262 and a ME-163 that were placed
on a U-Boat and later transfered to a Japanese submarine. A Japanese officer who was a military liason to the Germans used the trip to return home.
The sub pulled into a part of the Philippines that was still under Japanese control, for refueling for the final leg of the trip back to Japan, and the
officer was let off to join the fighting there. The sub continued to Japan and was sunk somewhere off the Philippines.
Didn't they also bought a Panther alongside with Tiger? I remember that from ConeofArc channel
Also, Japan did in fact purchase a Tiger Tank in 1944 but was “reacquired” by the Wehrmacht.
i recommend you add more planes, more artillery, more suiciders, aa action, and dogfights and boyonet action too
but the vid was awesome and unique and i see you put a lot of effort in it
Saving Private Ryan 2:Tokyo Boogaloo.
Seriously, this would make a killer movie. The banzai charge would be absolutely awesome in theaters. Get Christopher Nolan, Robert Rodat or Sam Mendes on this ASAP. This is a super cool concept.

I do wonder what would of happened to emperor Hirohito in this situation.
You say the end, but I say there is still room for Part 3
@@warfare11gaming There is? But the Americans have captured Tokyo and the emperor's headquarters so surely the emperor was captured?

He'd be killed for sure. Americans HATED the Japanese and viewed them as less than human even without the invasion. In this timeline, the US troops who find Hirohito are going to be incredibly vengeful and bloodthirsty after seeing so many of their friends die. Hirohito wouldn't even be recognizable anymore after his initial contact with American troops.

If the Russians killed civilians, then nothing would be left of Ukraine, and the special operation would end in the first weeks
True

Why couldn't they just make their own heavy tanks?
