As someone who played around the time of the "Better nerf Irelia meme", I think it's misunderstood a little today. Irelia was nerfed twice in quick succession in season 2. Right around the time some champions were far more broken than her. The second nerf came in a patch that did not touch any of the champs considered far more OP in S2, like Mordekaiser. So the joke was about Riot overlooking a ton of broken champions in favor of nerfing something else, not about Riot hating Irelia specifically.

Few days after her rework Irelia became an Ap Midlane Assassin.. Her W can reduce up to 100% physical and magical dmg (when charged at its maximum)at a certain AP(i think it was 800+, ofcourse with the right setup and build)

Playing against heal/shield bots was cancer in Ardent meta. I hope we never have that meta again

The Irelia rework is probably one of the best thing ever in league history. From the theme, artwork and mechanics really bring this champion and the game to a new level. A big improvement to those old boring skills

I was an Irelia main and was in a few Irelia main communities, many, infact most of the mains I knew including myself stopped playing Irelia after the rework. She just doesn't have the same playstyle or general feel anymore. I ended up playing a lot of Riven and eventually becoming a jungle main.
BadJungler definitely agree, I struggle at first but I became good at playing her. We just need consistemt practice
I was an Irelia main until the rework. I never got to remaster her because of the high expectations the team puts on me because of my mastery. They kept on flaming me until I just gave up.
Irelia is dead, they just put the same name in this new character.
old irelia was way easier to play, a lot of ppl that mained her day 1 were getting bored with old irelia, the rework made her into a very unique champ imo

29:08 I totally disagree with the statement that people dont want something to be fair to play against. In fact a lot of players I know hate nearly all the new releases because of their unfun/unfair kit when playing against. Some of them left the game, because they didnt want to stick around til they are kinda finetuned.
Akali was/is the worst of them all with Irealia and Sylas close behind. It took Riot over half a year to finally get rid of her stealth, which was a major point why she is banned 80% of the time. I banned her every single game since I didnt want to deal with this shit. This led to playing a ton against Yasuo and Irealia in that time since I cant ban them. Zoe is a fine champion atm, but it took so long, that even now there is like a switch set to hate her.

Ive been playing lol since season 2 and always been a support main and never really stopped playing but then I took a break from lol 2 weeks before Irelia rework released, i took me like 9 months to even think about playing again. When i came back i found that 2 of my favorite champs of all time received a rework (Irelia and Akali) and i tried them both out. Believe me when i say that ive never felt so strong, happy and motivated to play league of legends until i played this 2 reworked champions. This 2 are the reason im back playing regularly and i love them so damn much. The nerfs on both of them really hitted hard at least for me because of my new playstyle do to both of them because im only used to play support champions so this was a new experience for me. It didn’t last long for me since i played them too late but man im telling you that month felt amazing i cannot compare any of my moments with this game than that first month maining those 2 and getting them to M7 in like 1 week for each. All that you said at the end of the video, i felt all that. Loved the video! ❤️

Great video! But I really miss the time around patch 5.22 where you'd rush guinsoo's first. It's the most memorable time for me as an Irelia main. Killing your enemy, then waiting fully stacked under his tower till he tp'd back and just kill him again in a second. Still good memories in here. Thanks!
