Annoyingly the buttons on the bottom keep disappearing. The ones under the squares representing the joysticks d-pad and buttons on desktop mode controller configuration. They sometimes do this on windows as well. On windows the best way to deal with this is to lanch the game and config the controller in game but sometimes non steam games won't let you have the overlay in game.
Tried doing this in dolphin too but for some reason the touch menu buttons dont work. Not sure why. the menu shows in game but the game doesnt register the input
It wasn't working for me at first either. I started exploring the hotkeys menu of Dolphin to see if there was anything I needed to change and I think setting the controller from Xbox to "all devices" did it. But I'm not sure that's what did it.
Found the solution, it's actually setting the hotkey input device to Xinput2/0/Virtual core pointer. This got rid of the Start+Select to quit on the controller, however, so I mapped Escape to quit and set that as a back button on the Deck.
With Steam Input you can change any command to a toggle. Go to the gear icon next to your mapped command, then settings, then scroll down to toggle and enable it.

@@JazzFlight I ended up setting up a button chord with ("View Button"+"Menu Button") = Esc. Seems to be doing the trick.
