That's how I feel about Avey's Eucalyptus :) Gonna have to check out more of his and the other guys' solo stuff for sure though. Just had my mind blown to their lyric video for Kinda Bonkers: th-cam.com/video/ikl16iLeHIY/w-d-xo.html
I listened to sleep cycle during a tough time of my life. It was my way to feel at peace when I entered my first year of college. Thank you Deakin for making such a beautiful album.
psychedelicpiper fr lol, for all the shit and memes people did on deakin and he ended up coming out with the best music from that period in time easily
I have been rained upon these past few months. I've lost a lot, that's all I'll say. This is such an important song to me. It keeps me upright. Thank you, Deakin.
This song helped me everytime I felt bad with my long distance relationship. I’d play it everytime I was at the airport going to go see her. I’m gonna live with her now. Thank you for this album
Feels like yesterday this album came out. It helped get me through a lot shit that happened that year, and by the look of these comments I’m not the only one 😌
@Funk Boii I just find it to be a very relaxing album to put on and drift off to at bedtime. My other favourites are Ghosteen and The Book of Traps and Lessons
Days fog Can't see past the edge of what's gone but i'm hoping i'll try And the rain shines And the showers and the fawns in the field arrange in my eyes So why fight? With nature's call around You talk about frights In the verse of the every song You tell me what's wrong But what's right? You're seeing creation That crushing never ending change is so full of love And so you're waking to face the change in your role And with each restless shiver you wretch from your soul You're asking Is that something I'm not anymore? A brother to shake these broken chords till they turn gold And I tried To survive without that gold And wondering why Our exchange can never hold Am I what's wrong? Well what's right? Stop trusting in demons You're scattered ever lonely buddy but so full love Please stop repeating your terror you choose what you see It's always "what if?" and "why not?" Man you gotta just be Simplify define your goals and watch them grow Be your own true self the you that I know Days gone As I peer past the edge of what's lost I'm starting to cry But the rain's fine And the tears feel warm and my body is humming alive In time You'll revive what you thought dead You've stopped your own climb On the verge of every end You tell me what's wrong But what's right? Stop believing your being's been shattered and distorted cause brother your so full of love And so you're hoping to make a change in your role Repeating mantras to find some ground for your soul Stop asking Is that something I'm not anymore? A brother to shake these broken chords till they turn gold
I get that exact feeling with some of Brian Eno's early stuff. I don't get it so much from here and I really don't get what it is exactly or why some music does it, but I know exactly what you mean and it's a really cool feel
march 17, 2020. Watching this now, every moment feels visceral and fluid with my internal beeing. Comfortable yet anxious. patient with the unknown for a moment, then unknown how long this patience may last. Acceptance + depression. I look forward to the day when covid19 is a part of history, and I strive to be present and genuine as it happens
I have listened to the entire album, many times. I think it is helping me with a process that I have been repeating over the years. My opinion is that Sleep Cycle is a process of awakening, it is a beautiful metaphor in which we all have to face, confront ... I am in tears writing this, because I identify so much with the emotions and feelings of Deakin, that I realize this infinite cycle ... This is life, this is darkness and light, it is necessary to go through ... Endless thanks to Deakin ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ok but for real: Sleep Cycle is the best AnCo-related album released this decade. The only one I'd be bold enough to call a masterpiece. Thank you so much for it, Josh. It's been a therapeutic album for all of us. I still cry to Good House everytime I hear it when I feel weary and beaten up, it really lifts me up, it gives me hope for the future. I think, at the end of the day, that's the spirit of Animal Collective as a whole. It's a hug, an embrace for the soul.
Don't care what people say, "Centipede Hz" is still a masterpiece, too. I'd tie the two together. After all, "Wide-Eyed" was the very first we ever heard from Deakin in regards to vocals and songwriting, and it arguably gave him the confidence needed to finish and release "Sleep Cycle". The acoustic version that was recorded for a radio show is essentially a precursor for what we got with "Sleep Cycle". Deakin's guitar playing on "Centipede Hz" was incredible, too. The sounds he got out of it are revolutionary. It will take decades for people to truly appreciate the sonic depths of that album. I agree with the rest of your comment, though. "Good House" is such a tear jerker and very spiritual. I could not have worded things better.
Just came here to say thanks to Deakin for making this beautiful song and album. One phrase that has really stuck with me ever since I first heard this song is “don’t believe your being’s been shattered and distorted, cause brother you’re so full of love.” I replay this line in my head every time I’m down and need a reminder of this. Thanks again.
This is probably the best song ever bro Edit: i forgot about that rap song by panda bear "playing the long game" THAT SHIT IS FIRE ON SOME CHIEF KEEF SHIT
We can all feel the pain and the terror and the hope and the rebirth and the love in this song. And Deakin, although we can never connect with you personally to tell you how much this means to all of us, please know that your art and expression have given many the courage to face that which they had thought unbearable, I speak from personal experience. It's profound beauty as a pure light conduit through deep black storm clouds. Thank you...
Since I've met you nothing has been the same. I am so grateful you exist. I truly want to be the best person for you. I love you from the bottom of my heart :')
:'''''') brb gonna go do a little cry cry. Nema da mi veruvash ama prvo neshto na pesnava mi tekna.. literally nishto nemam drugo pobarano. You're the love of my life Hristi. I'm so grateful for you, thanks for making me a better person everyday💛💛💛✨✨✨ shine love!
Thank you Deakin for this record. It has helped and healed many
This song is super duper based hehe
This is one of the most perfect songs I've ever heard. Deakin has my applause. Crazy how much talent is contained in animal collective
I read that as Applesauce lol
@@MrMattaiusify "Deakin has my applesauce" has a better ring to it.
Sleep Cycle = lo key masterpiece
high key you mean

Deakin was a part of the Painting With era this whole time ❤️
Leagues better than "Painting With".

Ive been sleeping on sleep cycle. Late to the party but glad to be here.

I've probably used this song to help me sleep peacefully more than any other, thank you Deakin.
Ditto - it's my favourite album to drift off to sleep to.

That particular weirdness that attracts us all. A nostalgic feeling to a realm so familiar, yet so unknown. Thank you.

This song has never meant so much to me. Today, I found myself in the lyrics and my soul in the song. I’ve been looking for both for a while now.

One of my favourite songs in recent years, from one of the best AnCo related projects. Cool video too.
Very few songs have been able to bring me to tears. This being one of them. What a healing message 💖 Thank you, Deakin.
I'm so glad Deakin released this album. So excited to see what he brings to the next AnCo record

You are such a good songwriter and guitarist De. I appreciate you very much.
It reminds me animations from czech artist Švankmajer... I saw some of his works when I was growing up. Love it.
