@@VideoNozoki you are literally bringing up Asian shows created in Asia. Simu Liu represents asian american/canadian roles. Even the Asian Actor who was in Squid game, when he came to the US to do a role in GI Joe, he was shocked that his white co stars wouldn't look him in the eye, and when he visited starbucks white people thought he was fucking Ken Jeong even though he was tall and good looking. Asian stars in Asia get treated way different than Asian American/Canadians here in north America, Asians in NA tend to get stereotyped and typecasted hard in very unflattering roles. Also who the fuck are you to dictate to Asians about their Asian american experience. If you are white if you no place to tell how Asians how they should feel about their experiences, and if you are Asian you either didn't grow up in NA or have some insane internalized racism you need to deal with.
My wife, who is a CPA, had a good laugh when she heard Simu talk about his stint in accounting. As a senior manager she regularly provides performance reviews on the newer employees.
When Simu mentioned Wong Fu and how these early asian American youtubers were the only representation we had, I really felt that. Great to see more people like you Simu and great interview as always Sean!
@@VideoNozoki are you even asian? If not, kindly shut the fuck up. I was born in 1994 & it wasn't until youtube that I started seeing people who looked like me on any screen. It wasn't until then that I thought Asians were cool for the 1st time in my life. yeah so there were a few years where some movies came out about. Which was pretty much just Ip Man & Rush Hour. Other than roles about martial arts & being an asian punchline (I do love rush hour though but still), there were 0 opportunities. Then the years following, even those roles weren't around. radio silence. In fact, 2008s #oscarsowhite which was about POC representation in media.... had 3 young asian kids come out in overalls & glasses holding notebooks & calculators & made fun of them with asian jokes the entire segment. No one batted an eye. Someone's nickname on love & hip hop was "chink" b/c his eyes were small. This slur was allowed to be used on national TV. Like I said, I saw 0 people who looked like me on my screens until youtube. It wasn't until kevjumba, nigahiga, bubzbeauty, wongfuproductions, & michellephan that I started loving who I was. The reason Asians dominated youtube in the beginning was b/c it gave creative people with no options in mainstream media a way to create content.
I would love to see an episode of this show where you do a "wing roulette" and each person has to eat the wing the spin lands on without knowing what sauce it is. Please make this happen.
Eh. It's probably not as fun. The build up is what makes this fun. When someone gets the Apollo on their first wing, they'll not taste the other wings and just be sweating forever.
@@1337-Nathaniel I agree completely, I was thinking have 10 people and each person gets 1 wing. They all eat at the same time and wait to see who says "holy sh1t" 1st. I do love the build up though, especially when guests get cocky in the beginning
It's a cool idea but I don't think it would work. For most people who do this they probably are able to make it through all 10 wings because it's a build up of heat and they are given just enough time to adjust and prepare from wing to wing. It's also not just about heat but about how it hits and the flavor profiles while moving from one to the next.

@My Info Canadians tend to acknowledge their ethnic background. Italians, Greeks, Serbian, Lebanese, German, Norwegian etc. They would normally just be “white” in the US, but even multi-generation Canadians still acknowledge their ethnic background. There are some that don’t, but usually that’s due to losing connections to their extended family, or not participating in local community. That’s a lot less common amongst BIPOC, for the obvious reason: physical appearance.

The whole concept of being seen as only one thing (Sean as the wing guy and Simu as Shangchi/Martial artist actor) is very interesting and Simu's co-star from Kim's Convience has a Ted Talk about this very topic and how Paul Sun-Hyung Lee was only perpetuated as Appa from Kim's Conveience and how he's been trying to break out of this shell. @@VideoNozoki he's complaining that he's only asked to do Asian roles... which he's correct about. His big marvel break is SHANG CHI.

Yes!! I watched wong fu from the beginning. Love them 💕 I was so excited when I found them
@@VideoNozoki are you even asian?
I think it would be a good idea.
You'd have to change the flavors, rather than make it about heat intensity.

@My Info no
@My Info Canadians tend to acknowledge their ethnic background.
@@checksanity do they also call people of British decent, British Canadian?
@@checksanity I agree, 100%. How many Americans would just say “Oh, I’m American. White.” Almost any time I’ve asked people will say “Greek” (whatever it is), and the Canadian part is just assumed.
@@ohdaUtube Not really, no. Though some still acknowledge that they are British-ethnically and culturally. That’s unlikely after the second generation though.
I think it’s because the British were the primary and majority colonial entity. Also Canada is still part of the British commonwealth. Whereas, people who are of French ethnicity are French Canadian or Québécois (if they’re from Québec-there were French that settled in other provinces too).
