This is a real good and informative video. I'm not going to lie, the water derrick is just plain awesome. That is a real nice touch. I'm in the process of transitioning from beginning supplies to something more permanent with my rabbits and quail. I have already built the quail feeders and have ordered the supplies to build something similar to what you have in this video. I ordered the cups without the peck valve. They aren't supposed to leak as much but I guess I'll find out soon enough. I might have to build a derrick too but I doubt it will turn out as nice as that work of art. Thanks for the tip on not using the clear tubing and the rest of this valuable information as well.

When you transition to your permanent setup, keep all of your original equipment handy. When things go wrong or harsh weather gums up your system, the backup stuff is tried and true and it will get you out of a bind on a temporary basis. The derrick isn't as tough as it first looks, just make sure you anchor the legs into the ground somehow. I poured concrete pylons and set bolts in before it dried, so technically I can just unscrew the nuts and relocate the whole setup.

It would work better if you do like I did and build a box around them and put some insulation around them water will be 2o degrees cooler

Have you found the nipple water okay for kits? Or they need a bowl for a bit?

The kits figure it out pretty quick (probably watching mom). I've only had to use bowls to get through cold temps when the nipples freeze up.
