This video released when I was 16 years old. I used to watch this video over and over back then. 3 years ago I bought my first motorcycle, a 2014 Triumph Bonneville. This weekend I set off on my first “big” adventure, rather than just riding around my local town for a couple of hours, I’m going on my first solo overnight trip into the Adirondacks in New York. This video has always inspired me and I now I get to set off into my own adventure!
watched this video when it came out 11 years ago while living 2300 miles away from Sequioa National forest. I am finally headed up this route on my bike a couple of days from now.
My heart hurts watching this video. I love it so much. It's honestly one of my favorite videos ever. Riding a terrific bike through one of the best national parks on the west coast, with swimming, and a great looking burger, and infreakingcredible views, and being surrounded by nature, building a campfire, camping beneath the stars... absolutely incredible. With all the negativity that's associated with America, especially recently, it's nice to see something like this that makes me feel so positive about it.
Revisiting this video after years and years. At the time I was riding a Thruxton and had no idea how capable these machines are in the right hands. I’m older and ride more than ever, but all the nostalgia puts a huge smile on my face!
it does sound lovely! i run the triumph TOR (triumph off road) pipes on 2012 bonneville and that sounds rather sweet! same kind of noise under acceleration with a nice pop on overrun - the fit is perfect as they are original triumph parts, too :)
Just did this ride with my buddy. We rode from Santa Monica all the way to the forest. It was a long ride, but well worth it. We even ate at the same restaurant in Ponderosa! Thanks for the inspiration!
Kreiga bag is the US-30, my Dunlop neck scarf came from the Isle of Man TT in 2008 as a gift at the Q2 launch. I've not seen one before or after but I love it and have ridden everywhere with it since, its a part of me....
Loved this video ages ago, lost it and now retrieved it. It didn't lose it's charme, inspiration and compassion over time. Jamie is a great guy and motorcycling still is a way of life. 👍🏼😎
I think I've seen this video about 5 times now, it never gets old!! I'm going to try my best to go to a new spot every weekend this summer on my Savage. Adventures for life.
I have a Bonnie and loved the essence of this video...exploration, appreciation and freedom!!! Thanks for sharing...really enjoyed it despite my slight bias as a bonny owner!!!
Oldie but goldie! What a great video! I've been watching 50 times! After watching this film in winter 2013, I bought Bonneville SE in early 2014! Thanks Jamie! You da man!
I love the sound of a Bonnie. Such a great all around bike. I know a guy that trail rides with one all the time. America is a wonderful thing to see, isn't it.
Cheers rideapart... I finally managed to follow this route last week on an 899 panigale (rented in LA)... Absolutely amazing. Great roads (bit cold still on dome rock) great food and nice people!! Now back to the UK!
Great vid....and Jamie is full of enthusiasm. The Trumpet sounds good and the countryside is what it's all about. Made me bloody hungry with that burger!
The bike and its rorty exhaust note are lovely but I'm most impressed seeing him sleep on Dome Rock, apparently getting a good night's sleep on a slab of hard, cold granite. Well done!
Please we need another episode of ride apart! And Yes.. The Bonneville is The Proper Bike!!!!! for this kind of real motorcycling.... well.. two days since i last rode mine and i miss her...
this is what I'm excited to do on my Bonneville...found this video by doing a kriega bag on triumph bonneville search....great video...camping underneath the stars is always a beautiful thing...thanks for the video!
Solid. Three hours from L.A. in any direction will put you in places that have to be seen to be believed. No better way to do it than solo on a bike. Cheers!
I was inspired by this video to take up moto camping a few years ago. After a couple of years and a few setbacks, I am planning on following Jamie's tire tracks into the same area he rides here. Even planning to spend the last night of my trip at Dome Rock. Thanks Jaime!!
before watching this video i would have never thought to ride a bike like that on roads like those. thnx for the awesome video and inspiration for a road trip. now all i need is a bike...
Probably the best motorcycle riding video on youtube, and on a Bonneville no less. You sir have given me a new dream in life, I will visit that place and ride. kudos.
I think bikes like this are perfect for roads, enough poke to keep the pace but not enough to get you into trouble. Hopefully getting my bonnevile this weekend!
I actually live a couple of miles from this area and priviledged to take the same trip as he did on many occasions. I came accross this video on Hell for Leather and clicked on it and knew exactly where he was at throughout the trip AWESOME . I think its time to head up there again, watch out for the Only CHP officer that always up there on weekends other than that it great. I knew I should of went this weekend Damn.
Always wanted a Bonnie and thanks to this vid, I now have my direct access booked in for completion, so hopefully I can have this beauty of a bike one day :)
I can't stop smiling. My dream bike is featured on my dream adventure. Thank you guys for being amazing. Also, whoever is picking your soundtrack is amazingly good.
Thanks for the reply. I've been riding for years and ride 9+ months out of the year here in Boston and this video reminded me of my California roots and inspired me to both ride with a bit more gusto but more importantly to enjoy the bike I have and not to over-think a short get-away. Thanks again.
WOW ! this show just keeps getting better n better. The camera work in this episode is just outstanding for a bike show. Thank you guys so so much. I cannot describe how bad I wanna do just this kind of trip but it's way to hot n humid where I am right now. Will have to wait at least till November to do a trip. but a trip I shall do : ) Ride safe boys .
My childhood friend and I are planning a trip next summer to Pikes Peak with him on his Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer and me on my Triumph Street Twin/Cup conversion. This video makes me want to go now.
Awesome, makes me want to up sticks and move to the western seaboard. Looking for a place to retire to in 16 yrs, this goes in the bucket list. Great, thanks, eyes wide open!
First of all Ride Apart is great. Second and foremost this is what riding is all about period. Can't wait till winter is over here in Montana... The 848 awaits!
thanks for taking us with u on that journey Jamie. that was a great video, not much info on the bike but doesnt really matter. I know its in a long time but, isle of man tt 2013, you guys have to be there and cover it. and its in ur neck of the woods!

This is still the greatest video about motorcycles on youtube. I haven't seen this video in years.
Bought my first motorcycle after watching this video for about the 50th time. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
+Sam Larson You and me both my man! I wonder how many bikes this video has assisted in getting sold! What'd you end up with, I got a Bonneville! :)
I am another one, bought a T100 in 2013 after watching this video at least 20 times
Me too!!!!!
Me too!!

Finally!! 5 years after watching this..the Inspiration.. "ONE MAN. ONE MACHINE".. got an interceptor 650 for the woods in Himalayas.. I can cry now 🙁
This is better then movies with hundreds of million dollar budgets. You guys deserve an Oscar for this. Simply amazing.
One of the best videos I've seen on TH-cam. The reason to own a bike is captured.
Revisiting this video after years and years. At the time I was riding a Thruxton and had no idea how capable these machines are in the right hands. I’m older and ride more than ever, but all the nostalgia puts a huge smile on my face!
Same
same here
This guy is so genuinely charming and this whole video was very nice. Ride Apart is the best part of Drive!
I am diehard fan of Bonneville...owned A3 upgraded to t120 and now speed twin 1200....what a awesome machine it is!!!🍻👍
One of the best motorcycle videos
agree!
+HotrodADV71 This video literally led me to buying my first bike, also a Bonneville! So well produced it sold me!
Triumph had to fill this guy’s pockets!!! I’m sold on this bike!
This video should win an award. Everything is perfect!!!
That's because there are no women in it to ruin it!
Everytime I watch this video it makes me happy. Surely this is exactly what road trips and life is all about!
One of the best RideApart episodes ever! This is what a motorcycle is about. Freedom and fun!
I know this is an old video...but I just want to point out that the sound of a Bonneville is one of the sexiest bike sounds ever produced.
Those are aftermarket pipes, but I agree.
+Andrew B Old but gold ! Nice video. I also loved the sound.
+Andrew B I agree with you, however, it had better sound amazing for how much that Arrow system costs, stupidly priced.
will miss those growling arrows..looks like3 only vance & hines this time?
it does sound lovely! i run the triumph TOR (triumph off road) pipes on 2012 bonneville and that sounds rather sweet! same kind of noise under acceleration with a nice pop on overrun - the fit is perfect as they are original triumph parts, too :)
"One Man, One Machine, Few Belongings." Amazing words to live by.
This video was somewhat responsible for getting me into motorbikes! Keep coming back to it.
Wish rideapart would make a come back.
