Gift Reciept keeps on giving. I use it to make my own custom frosted metals. A tiny polish bottle, pour in Gift Receipt and any linear holo to make that linear holo into a frosted metal. I start with 2/3 Gift Receipt and 1/3 Linear Holo ... then tweak it from there. Blue Freezie made my replacement for Cold Shoulder. I live in Frosted Metals... I get other polishes... but I just keep reaching for my frosted metals. They are show-stoppers.
Holo Taco Quick dry base and Glossy Taco are my go tos. I’ve tried many other brands but GT is the only topcoat I’ve used that doesn’t cause shrinkage. And for me, it dries in 5 minutes and is really glossy. As for Quick dry, please don’t yell at me 😮🤯 but I like it because it lasts longer than their peely base but I can peel it off after a few days. I know this is probably not good for my nails so I do use the soaking method too.
Huh, I might try that sometime. I have peely base but don’t like using it. I am lucky if I get two days out of it and I have to baby my nails the whole time. I usually get one day.
My first purchase from holo taco was the tea creme collection, I got it launch day! They discontinued matcha maker, my favourite, though 😢. The new green creme is nice but it's definitely brighter 😭
I had the same reaction to the frosted metals.. got mint money just to try it but did not expect anything from it. Mint Money is my absolute FAVOURITE, I screamed when I put it on the first time 😂
I miss super glossy so much 😢 I use the quick dry! I've gone back to painting my nails only in the last couple years, and I usually wear a mani for a week at least. I need to try long lasting again but when I first started painting, and maybe bc my nails were much less porous, I never thought it lasted well for me. Thats why I changed to quick dry which grips my nail plate much more. Now that my nails are a little more porous tho I'd be curious to try long lasting base. I am so upset about Fav Sister and Foiled Again 😩 I dont want to buy a backup since my bottles are super full but that was a hard decision to make. I love frosted metals in general they need to stop getting rid of them!
I do really like HT’s Long-Lasting Base Coat. It lasts at least 7-10 days under HT lacquers for me, and 10-14+ days with Mooncat polishes. Definitely worth it on sale; I picked up two bottles in my orders 😊 (FWIW, I prefer Mooncat’s Speed Demon Top Coat over Glossy Taco, so I’ll be stocking up on the former tomorrow.)
Fave Sister being discontinued is a CRIME! OG Frosted Metal formula and red lover here. Also love your swatches.Fave Sister and Blacklisted are my favorite frosted metals. I also wish she'd stop discontinuing the chunky glitters, those are one of my favorite formulas. I'm not a fan of the crushed holo because it looks like air bubbles to me rather than holo like the glitters.
OMG Same! Not a fan of the Crushed Holos either. I just don't see the appeal. But I LIVE in my Frosted Metals and Glitters. (As a fellow OG FM lover, you can use Gift Receipt to make your own custom FM colors. I use Linear Holos to do it.)
it's such a shame the chunky glitters don't sell as well I'm really hoping more people catch on to how beautiful they are! The OG Christmas glitter drop was TOO perfect.
I adooore the chunky glitters. I've been begging for a bright bubblegum pink chunky glitter in every royalty survey, and I'm about to lose my royalty status unless I spend $200 TODAY. 😂😭
I think the glitters are gorgeous but my god the removal is hell. I know a peely base would make that easier but I don't have time to repaint my nails often, I tend to leave my manicures for 2 weeks minimum, and a peely base coat would pop off before then.
Regarding the nail art brushes comment, I do agree that the brush doesn’t make you an expert in seconds, the use of proper tools do help a lot. So detail brushes are recommended to start learning nail art (but we can always start with cheap ones) and will make a complete difference against a 1 dollar brush set that is for coloring books or something that isn’t small and detailed painting areas
A great example of this is dotting tools. It’s worth buying a cheap set because I see them as a step 1 to nail art, and there’s not much else that can give you the effect.
I tend to pick up their non-polish items using points. I usually have already purchased the polishes I want by the time they might show up in Rewards, so I've gotten the brushes and dotting tools and plan to get the nail care kit if it shows up again. Favourite Sister is the PERFECT Christmas red. It's true red and doesn't lean pink or orange and is just so sparkly.
I got the tools and nail care kit from points! Recently the nail oil refills were in the rewards too but I don't wanna buy the pen when I could spend that on another polish so I passed on that.
I love the quick dry base. I noticed it dried super fast compared to the smoothing and long lasting base. When I'm in a rush 100% Grab the quick dry. Though I'm with you Linry,i never wear a polish very long. Maybe four days then i switch it. Peely base is my best friend.
I think oh my gourd dropped at the same time as resting witch face, and that was the only cream I've ever used from holo taco that I absolutely hated. I wonder if there was just something weird about the formula at that time. Otherwise, it's nice to see HT cremes get some love. Indigo away and bring me the teal are two of my absolute favorites. If you're in your blue era and enjoy grays then you have to try cold slate. I think I've used that one the most. I haven't gotten headhunter yet because I have modest moss and don't know how many dark greens I need, but I was curious if it's another one that's so dark that it shows up black most of the time or not?
I'm surprised to find the formula I have the most off from HT is creme. I was sold from my first bottle. The fall cremes collections were both irresistible gorgeous shades.

Yup! The KBshimmer replacement paddle brushes are compatible with HT’s cap and bottle. I bought some in bulk and have swapped out the few HT skinny brushes I’ve received. It’s definitely cheaper than purchasing wide brushes and caps from Holo Taco directly.

Consider Gift Receipt next time. It's super versatile. You layer a jelly over top or mix it with other polishes to make custom Frosted Metals. I blow through bottles of it fast.

It occurs to me that *maybe* the quick dry base coat is intended for polishes that go on thicc/dry slow rather than it being quick drying itself? Imma go test that theory... I confirm that the HT matte taco is the most hardening/long lasting matte I have ever had. Changing the colour of the brush is *weird*... you don't think it's like an iridescent flake or something that's tinting it or something like that? Does the polish base look brown on white?
The CVS receipt is a scarf that was gifted to me by a friend, but because I live in Florida I just put it on the wall cuz it's cute and I don't want it hiding in a closet

Ok so I love that you give extra little tips like how one coat black pigment will get all over you cuticles up on removal if you wiggle. I've been a natural nail girly for 1.5 years now and I always hated that with reds and I didn't know there was a way to avoid that! Also I DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS A QUICK DRY TOP COAT THAT YOU COULD PUT ON TOP OF MATTE TOPPERS TO SEAL IT IN! I was so confused with my matte polish (MC Sabertooth) I thought well I'ma have to use my top coat to protect from chipS and THEN apply a matte topper anyway?!? But by doing so you would fuzzy up the shimmer and it ruined the glowyness of that polish! But ur saying theres something you can use that won't shiny up the matte???! 😮 Reach me Linryyyy!!!
I have it. I would say it's good if you're only wanting your polish to last a day or just a night. I usually paint my nails at night and when I use the peel off base, at least two of my nails are polish free by noon the next day. The polish just slides off. I like to use it when I'm trying out a new polish just for fun or want to do a different polish daily.
I like to start with a blurring/ridge filling base coat, then peely base on top. That way when the peely pops I don't have to start my manicure from scratch. I just paint the center of my nail with peely base. It still comes off pretty easily but lasts longer. It's the only peel-off base coat I've tried so I don't have anything to compare it too.
Yeah I bought one and felt like my polish chipped faster than normal in like big chunks, so I haven’t really reached for it again :/ I typically use OPI natural base (a bottle lasts for ages as well..). I just ordered the pink smoothing base, will see how that one does when it comes to wear 👀
Just to play devils advocate (ba dum ching) for oh my gourd, I have a conspiracy theory that orange pigments in general are very transparent I don’t own oh my gourd but I’ve used a lot of orange acrylic paints and no matter the price point it’s always annoyingly transparent Idk do you have other orange polishes that are more opaque?
I would agree just like yellows they seem tricky to make. buuuut HoloTaco does have some OUT standing yellows. at the $12 price point I expect a lot more then something I can get from a $6 drug store bottle. I have a Color Club WHAM! POW! it is a 3 coater BUT it's a Neon so 3 coats isn't at all strange (3 THIN coats I should add)
Can anyone help me out on the video not syncing with audio on Linry’s channel. I only have this problem with Linry’s videos, not any other. It happens on my phone, iPad, laptop, and PC at a friend’s. They have the same issues. We’ve the changing quality, browsers, etc. I’m waiting for Linry to say east coast is the best coast and it’s a west coast issue! Hahaha. Kidding.
it's on my end something happens when I export my videos and I can't figure it out. and honestly I'm probably not going to be trying to fix it until after the holidays. I have way too much irl drama to also throw tech issues into the mix lol. sorry for the inconvenience

Frozen Benanas was my favorite frosted metal. I wore it a couple of weeks ago. If has been stable and is stunning. I wish she’d bring it back.

It's definitely darker than modest moss, but it doesn't look black in my day to day lighting at least.

Can you switch the brushes from your quick dry base coat and your long-lasting base so you can use the long-lasting base?

they are the same round skinny brush lol. But yes you can change out brushes all it takes is a pair of pliers and a little muscle

About two weeks ago I painted my nails with Head Hunter and used Trophy Life to draw vines on it. Turned out great.
STRONGLY recommend Nailite 3-in-1 for top coat. SO CHEAP. OH MY GOD SO CHEAP and it dries fast and hard and shiny.

For matte finish polish you have to go with out a top coat, OR you use a quick dry topcoat, then top it with a matte topcoat unfortunately.
I was so disappointed with foiled again, my review probably contributed to the end. Emerald City was the polish of my dreams

Holo Taco's long lasting base and glossy taco were soooo unbearably stringy and gloopy for me. I miss super glossy every day
you can add thinner into your base and topcoats! honestly most top coats need a bit of thinner when they get to the "halfway" point.
