Goggins has no idea how many people he has inspired to be better. I will run 1000 miles this year ONLY because I have tuned into his philosophy. I'll be 61 in two weeks and haven't run since I was in HS. After reading Cant Hurt Me in late 2018 I started running. 6-8 miles is routine now, but starting out was rough. Now I'm 20 lbs lighter and in the best shape of my life thanks to David Goggins.

Hey! Nice, I just started training for a 5k, mid 40's. Same, used to be a sub 5 minute mile, fastest in the 4:25 to 4:30 ish range. Now? I'd be lucky to clock a 10 minute mile (probably 12 maybe 15 lol) I'm doing my best but damn it's hard, that first mile sucks. I've started slow, get the lungs used to it and that helps alot, pick up the pace after I feel like I'm used to it. Still it's hard.

I run 7 miles before breakfast, jump rope 30 mins and bang out 50 pull ups and 50 chins before I leave for work. 9-5 construction, then I run home from the site - 3 miles! When I get home I do climbing wall for 30 mins before dinner. I finish my day with a 2 mile swim across the river by my house. That's my routine - 6 days a week! Goggins you are an inspiration!

To me, Goggins is an absolute stellar role model in terms of work ethic and determination.
However, I never get the joyful/happy vibes from him - it is always more on the verge of someone who is always quite serious and somewhat tense. Whichever video I see him in, whether it be his own motivational speech or an interview, he always exudes these rough feelings.
Another role model for me, to contrast by, is Kipchoge. When I watch his videos, you can just feel the massive amount of happiness and joy that shines from his personality.
I feel that they are both absolute beasts, but come off almost as polar opposites in terms of their public outlook, so to say.

@The Motivated Mindset he wouldn’t be one at all if he didn’t use peds. He’d be a regular old man

It's bizarre to me how people will take the time to comment and critique a man's life/routine as if they know better than the man who has a resume that far exceeds their own. As if their methods are superior for his goals he has accomplished and the inner peace he says he has achieved through the things he has done. As if their perspective on life from spoken from their couch is optimal for the background he comes from.
The internet is truly hilarious and ridiculous simultaneously. I guarantee 99% of these types of comments are by people who have zero athletic, military, or professional accomplishments. They simply don't understand the mind of someone looking for the most out of life nor the perspective of someone who understands the pure hell that life brings -- it is a never ending battle for many. If you have been fortunate enough to bypass many of the brutalities of life, I tip my hat to the luck you have had so far, and hope you never have to understand those hells and the mind of someone like Goggins or similar people.
If you listen to this full episode, you will hear Goggins advise people to not do what he does, or what anyone else says to do. Instead he encourages the idea of each person being on their own journey and personal mission. For him, his plan and approach to life was clearly a good one for him, as it accomplished what he set out to do (both in terms of resume and finding peace) and surpassed his own expectations of his potential. Any critique from the peanut gallery is comedic non-sense -- but of course they will continue regardless.

Exactly. You cannot have true power and freedom without discipline. No exceptions. That’s the core of David’s message. Though I would add that true freedom also means the ability to not be disciplined at times.

I recognise his routine is very beneficial for health and mental well-being but many viewers will work full time. Would be helpful to find someone who integrates a similar routine with a more usual lifestyle

I was fat and a loser
    And decided to change
I saw that I am weak
Like a boy on the seat
    I grinded and lifted
    Until I started to grow
    I released all my weakness
And I realized, I am alone
    So I shut myself in
    And I grinded much more
    Until I puked, and bleed
    And I ran even more
    But I stopped and realized
That I have to let go
So I am sitting here happy
Knowing the fight is all gone
    And the power of love
Is the new way to go
