- Demo of the Supro Blues King 12 and wow what a guitar amplifier it really is! The all tube configuration ensures that while it is just 15 Watts it is loud enough to gig with.

I played one of these at a guitar store the other day. Great amp. I've ordered one and should get it in a few days. One thing I'd point out about this amp is it wants a lot of bass, especially if you are using humbuckers. Some of the tones in this video, though not bad, sounded kind of muddy. If you roll up on the bass (and I mean almost dime it) it becomes less murky and sounds great. It's kind of counterintuitive, but the seller at the guitar store pointed it out and we tested it and sure enough he was right. He has one at home as well and said it's the same on his. It's clearly a design feature.
I look forward to getting this little tone machine. It'll be my second Supro. The first one I owned was great (different model of course), but not quite for me. I think this one will stay in my collection indefinitely. This is definitely a cool company with a cool history.

The Blues King sounded great coming through my fifteen year old Bose media master computer speakers. I cranked them pretty good and the sound remained very clear. The young fella did a fine job demoing it also.
What a great sounding amp! That’s the first new release amp in a long time that’s really blown me away with having a slightly unique but still desirable sound
It's not just a clone of your standard tube tones but it's still very musical while being unique. Not too everyone's taste but then what is in such a subjective market? 👍

Not so sure about the fuzzy drive. I do like it, mind you. It's just that i'm currently sitting on more mothern tones.
But the clean and low gain tones are... OMG! AWESOME!
I heard that this amp had a reverb and a low watt configuration. Is it another model or did you leave it for us to check it out?

People don't realize that 'loudness' [volume] is a logarithmic scale.
To get twice the volume, or loudness, of a 15 watt amp, you will need a 150 watt amp.
The famous Shadows gigged with Vox 15 watt amps for years. Of course, the Shadows=amazing.
Spot on dude! I've found also with higher Watts you get more headroom before breakup and so you really have to push higher wattage Amps to get the time you want sometimes.

It's a cool little amp but I personally would rather save the extra money for a Dual Tone or Black Magic. This amp is obviously meant to compete with the Fender Blues and Pro Jr. and perhaps the smaller Vox amps as well. In that arena I think they've done a great job. The more the merrier gang and the competition between these companies is very healthy and positive from a consumer POV.

This is too funny as this is my exact experience right now. I'd been planning on buying a Supro Black Magick combo but saw the Blues King right before NAMM. At NAMM I saw that the Blues King was simply a single 12AX7 & single 6L6 amp with solid state drive built in. A Blues Jr. seems to be the EXACT competitor to this amp. Now I'm back where I started, trying to decide between A Supro Black Magick & the Dual Tone(which are basically the same amp).
Jon Vecellio I don’t know if you bought either yet but I have a BK 12 and a Black Magick Reverb. They are both great amps. If you like the sound of Supro Amps that is.

I will tell my sons to subscribe as well, great work again. I posted a comment asking what you might think about the Epiphone SG model. Any advice? I have/had a lovely 73 Strat micro neck Deluxe model and I gave it to my eldest son last xmas. I would love a nice SG but I only have Epiphone SG kinda money. I got a second hand Epppie G310 for €110 euros (I know) just before xmas and am about to upgrade the pickups, pots and put on some locking tuners maybe. Any advice is appreciated and you keep on keeping on mo chara.

I’m sorry guys, you’re one of the first to get this in for review but you offer no visual or announced tone boost or gain settings in the video for comparison , surely it wouldn’t have stretched you too far to compare the gain and boost differences when engaged, what effect the eq section has over the amp. Things like that are important especially as you had a real ‘first’ with this baby. You show a footswitch, does that come with it? Who knows? What does it weigh? Back breaker or light as a feather MDF? Too many questions unanswered for me, hope you do another soonish. Thanks anyway, there’s always one !
The gain setting should be self evident, when not engaged it's the clean tones. The boost you see when the footswitch is used for which there was a visual reference. The weight is in the specs but it's an easy carry. Hope this helps buddy.

Sounds like a Blues Jr. with more mids, plus reverb and more gain. Not a bad thing at all. And a good price.
Had a Blues Junior (first issue, made in USA) and hated it. Was too bass heavy even when dialed all the way down on the EQ. This BK12 sounds very different. To my ears it's bluesy, but I think it can do other tones. I heard it has one of the most responsive EQs in the price range.
Nice demo. In my opinion you should move the mic a few inches away from the speaker.

Is that a Marshall Lead 12 head in the background?? I sold mine and really wish I hadn't. I sold it to an amp tech who said it is designed exactly the same as the JCM800. He would just change out a part and it would crank up all the way to 100w!

I bought one of these amps but where in the hell do I change the tubes on this thing? Looking in the back I can't find any tubes.

It takes a special skill to make an amp this great sound that bad. Just awful. Glad I listened to 20 other reviews before I bought mine. If I had stumbled across yours first I would have passed up the terrific amp.

It's way too expensive at 600 bucks. You can get a vintage champ for less, or a brand new Stage Right 15w tube amp from Monoprice for 200 bucks. I did. It does the job good and it looks great even without a fancy name on it. Highly recommended .
same price as a Fender Blues Jr, which doesn't have an effects loop. or 3 stages of gain
Had a Monoprice. I must have had a bad unit because it had the loudest 60 cycle hum I ever heard and it got worse once you started playing. I just had a Blues King 8 to demo. That is a gorgeous amp. It was dead silent. No hum at all. I sent that amp back because it was too quiet for my taste. I ordered the BK12 for the EQ and the unique, long decay reverb.

¿ that would make no difference to how it sounds all you would be doing is paying 4-5 the price for exactly the same parts wood etc and I guarantee in a blind test you wouldn’t hear the difference.

Made in China printed circuit board assembled in USA Has zero lineage to original Supro tmanufactured amplifiers, they just bought the name.
yeah and Henry J bought Gibson in1985, now Richard Curleigh has it.. Leo sold Fender in 1964.
the original company brand that manufactured Supro (Valco) is now owned by Eastwood guitars. so, Whats your point?
Extremely few of these old American companies have any original lineage. A high Quality job IS the lineage, not the name or the people who used to owned the name. Supro has done a good job of staying true to the sound while increaseing the build quality greatly.
Supro amps were used by many of the famous Chicago Blues legends.

I don't think it's trying to be brother. It's a pretty unique tone and I feel harks back to their roots.
Sounded awful with the LP copy.
The vintage is quite a sharp edgy tone and I think the tele better represented what this amp is capable of.
I've noticed mine is rather pickup sensitive, It will make cheaper pickups show their weaknesses. sounds great with my Gibson's Seymours and Bare Knuckles. not so good with the Epiphones and Chibson stuff.
