SoD looks really fun to me. My only WoW experience is playing a couple HC chars to level 40ish before getting burnt out (unofficial and official). I just don't have enough time to commit to playing but using all these new spells and stuff looks really cool

As expected, as we see with every expansion in later phases/patches since WotLK 2010-2011, the hype and pop is highest initially, then slopes off, and now with how fractured the WoW player base is over Df vs MoPremix vs CataClssc vs ClassicEra vs HCC vs SoD vs Pstorm, etc., it is not surprising that you see even more drop off of any "new thing" and we see more "[thing] is dead" and then the idea of "thing is dead now" also will only be a deterrent to others
