  • Hello, I'm Will and in this video I show you how I swap a CRT Monitor with a Flat Screen(LCD, LED, etc.) Monitor using a CGA to VGA Convertor PCB. It's really simple to do with very few steps.

    Just wanna say thanks for this video, Im planning on converting an Arcade1Up into an actual JAMMA game and wasn't sure how to connect everything to the board. Seems nice and simple, thanks for the explanation!

    They got those 4:3 monitors from Arcoda now that are made for exactly this purpose. At least they have filter and adjust features, something I've learned that was really missing from all the pc displays everyone keeps chucking in to these cabs.
    ...and no crappy 16:9 stretch either. That's the best part!

      Thank you very much! I'll look into them for my future projects! I'm always looking for better solutions for my builds and repairs.

    Im trying to Convert my Wells Gardner Arcade Monitor to VGA to run my mame games im using CRT EMU to run it off of my AMD 5450 card I just bought this converter trying to get my Wells Gardner on..

    I purchased the same type of converter board and I'm having problems with the picture stabilizing. I have a 2005 Golden Tee with a warn out CRT monitor. So I've installed a 27" LED monitor along with the converter board. When booting up, the picture rolls/flickers, then the signal goes out....then comes back on and off. What do you suggest I do? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

    How do you connect the CGA harness to the jamma? Do you have a video on that?

    • @willsarcadeservice4599
      @willsarcadeservice4599  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't but I can make one soon, you just need to make sure that the Red Green Blue Sync and Ground are attached to the correct pins.

    Im having issues with my zaxxon cabinet showing the picture through the lcd, but its flickering, and I cant seem to get it right through the adjustments. Any tips?

      @willsarcadeservice4599  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for such a late response. The first thing I'd look at with a flickering monitor is if any power wires are leaking into the video wires. AC Leakage can cause flickering like you're describing. The other issue I can think of off the top of my head would be either a bad connection somehwhere or an issue with the convertor board you're using. I've had bad convertor boards do the same as well.

    May I know if you can just plug JAMMA harness that goes to CRT to CGA to VGA adaptor?

    • @willsarcadeservice4599
      @willsarcadeservice4599  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can, all you have to make sure of is that the video outputs from the JAMMA harness are connected properly to the CGA to VGA Convertor. If you can make sure those connections are done correctly then it should work just fine.

    Is it possible to replace a CSTN display with an OLED or IPS display, especially in older mobile phones?

    • @willsarcadeservice4599
      @willsarcadeservice4599  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is possible to do so, but I'm not as familiar with mobile phone displays as I am in arcade displays.

    I got a Mrs pacman I'm converting due to dead screen how did you make the lcd screen rotate ?? And dose the screen automaticly turn on when pluged in?

    • @willsarcadeservice4599
      @willsarcadeservice4599  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The screen should automatically rotate because of the way the video signals are being sent from the PCB. The monitor does turn on automatically as long as you buy and Arcade Monitor or a Computer Monitor. Regular TV Monitors wont turn on automatically.

    Can I use the CGA to HDMI converter to go to a flat screen instead? Or is there a drop off in gameplay? Literally have no clue about anything like this but this video helped out so much! Thank you

    • @willsarcadeservice4599
      @willsarcadeservice4599  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use this convertor to go from CGA to VGA and yes there is a slight lag in the video when you do so but it's so minimal that it's hardly noticeable. Just make sure the convertor has proper voltages coming into the PCB and the Video Output is properly connected and you shouldn't have any issues.

    Great video. I did want to point out you accidentally said VGA at about the 3:30 mark instead of CGA. I know it was just a slip of the tongue, and this is a great video. Thanks!

      Didn't notice that, but you're right. Thanks for letting me know, I don't like to give misleading or false info so I appreciate the heads up, I really do!

    Very helpful channel, but I have a question.
    I’m replacing a medium Res monitor with a LCN in a Super Sprint. I have a CGA to VGA converter. The converter has a 5 pin layout and the PCB has a 6 pin adapter. I’ve spliced in 5 of the 6 but it’s reading no signal. I’m assuming all 6 pins need connection for it to read board.?

    • @willsarcadeservice4599
      @willsarcadeservice4599  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 6th pin is probably a positive or negative sync, if so connect them together and that may help

    4:10 Looks like a 6 pin molex connector to me. (1 not used)

    What happens to sound if removed and changed from CRT

    • @mrhurtalot
      @mrhurtalot 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      sound is routed to the speaker via the harness directly off the game pcb. no change to sound.

    How do you get the display to show up and down long ways with the monitor mounted side ways?

    • @willsarcadeservice4599
      @willsarcadeservice4599  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It'll do it automatically, the game board is programmed to output a Vertical Video no matter the monitor it's displayed on. I'm running this game with the original PCB.
