Can we please have a mega video once in a while. I would love to watch a 45-60 Minute Episode.
Agreed. I could watch these guys for hours
It'll happen after they finish the project. I think they're pretty busy right now & they wish they had the time to do a side project.
Tub O Towel sponsorship!! It could not happen to a better TH-camrs!! Congratulations, PBB & KUTGW!!
Jamie's face was pure joy :)
@@alldecentnamestaken Yes!! Face reaction was great!!
We agree!
Can I suggest doing a video where you interview Brock and film his business for a day? I'd love to hear more about the big machines and what they do with them.
Yay Tub O Towel for finally doing it! I wish your videos were longer. I do so enjoy them!
Yay! We are as excited as Jaime!
Holy crap....gotta say my hands were sweating when Jaime was kind of teetering off the cliff driving that machine! Congrats on the Tub O Towels sponsorship! Long overdue!
same!!
From someone who can’t even hammer a nail straight, I really enjoy these videos. Shows you how exciting my life is!
I started buying Tub O' Towels because of your videos. Glad they finally gave you the sponsorship!
Congratulation on the Tub O' Towels sponsorship!!!!!
We are thrilled
The excitement on Jamie's face about the Turbo Towels 😂😂😂. Hopefully this build weathered the storm after all the work to get this far. Take care of yourselves, family, friends and community guys. Wishing the 5 of you all the best. ❤
Eric's previous posts have given the thumbs up on the build. Saying it suffered no negative effects from HELENE. All the teams personal homes escaped damage also.
We are just as excited as Jaime!
Tub o towels! Good for you guys. 🎉
Good for us too! We are so so happy!
Awesome! 👍🤗👍
The project is really moving along. Sorry I couldn't be there to help with the beams, you might not have needed the excavator. Anyway, keep bangin! 🔨👷♂👍 And congrats on the Tub-O-Towels sponsorship.
Had to take time from the hurricane Milton cleanup. I always look forward to PBB video drops. Place is looking amazing! Congratulations on the new sponsor as well.👍👌
I called it!! Just knew it was gonna be tub o’ towels!!! So glad that everyone is safe and ok. My week is literally made when I get to hang out with the guys of PBB!
You were right!
Congrats on the new Tub O Towel sponsorship! I have been using them for about a year because of you guys! They are actually, surprisingly really good at cutting grease and dirt!
Thanks!!!
I learn so much from you guys, but watching y'all discover a non-Newtonian fluid was great fun. It's a fluid that does not follow Newton's law of viscosity.
Love it! Congratulations on landing the Tub O'Towels sponorship! It made my day as well ;)
It made our day too!
Mrs. JP was great re: the Tub-O-Towels tele-chat! -> us gals were liking her for her restraint, and filling-in her silent thoughts.. along the lines of "wonderful that you'll be cleaning more dear" and "I see learning lessons for our kids ahead".. and "what a lovely cleaning role model you are - our future daughters-in-law will thank you someday!!" 🙃
hahahaha! We are hear for all of it!
With the grout. To dry pack it, mix it starting with the dry grout about 3 inches deep in a 5 gallon bucket. Add water a tiny bit at a time. I find it works to poke a hole in a water bottle top and spray a tiny bit at a time. You have to spray a tiny bit, then mix, then spray and mix. Until it looks like tiny ground meat that was stirred constantly while it was cooking to well done. It needs to be as dry as possible for it to be plyable. It will just barely change color. Once you pack and shape it take a paint brush and dip it into water and brush it on like paint. That's called sealing it. It makes a shell on the outside that protects it from moisture while it cures. Good luck. Remember just moist enough that it's stay together if you squeeze it in a fist.
You can use a 2x4 to kneed it tight don't pat it. It'll crack or push the corners out. then use a 1.5x5 trawl to cut it to a 45 degree angle.
Congratulations on the Tub O Towels deal. Probably bigger than the 1M subs milestone! Big day.
We are so excited!
That cement mix was a perfect example of an non-newtonian fluid. Thats exactly what you said: corn flour and water (also called oobleck)
Mix more of it and then take turns jumping into a bucket of it!
Exactly what I was thinking!
Congrats on landing Tub O'Towels!
I pray that you guys and families faired well amidst the storm past. 🙏🏽
They did.
Aww Eric, Jamie’s so happy 🤗🤗🥰😁😁😁
You have a small cutoff from the beam. Weigh that one, measure the width and multiple it by the length of the beam. We all would like to know!
an online calculator says a 24ft long 5.25x 16.25 LVL says its around 444- 525 Lbs
@@manorin But it is a pressure treated LVL as well, so a bit more???
Tub O Towel! Way to go! You guys have been talking about that forever.
They have...and we finally have arrived!
Tub O Towels - hilarious!!!
We need to impress his wife next! 🤣
Fantastico!!
The whole reason I started to buy/use tub-o-towels was because of Jamie’s enthusiasm about them.
It’s about time T-O-T.
Yes!!!!! Jaime was genuinely happy. And so are we!
Thanks for sharing the hard work and fun times that makes you guy's a happy team. Be safe and take care.
Holy moly those are some beautiful beams.
Always waiting on the edge of my chair for your videos. It's always a treat to see iti.
My wife laughed when I told your new sponsor, she knows I LOVE Tub O Towels.
You do?!?! That's awesome!!! Do you follow us on any social channels? We love to interact with our customers!
Jamie loving the Tub O towels sponsorship and operating an excavator all in the same video. Like a little kid - love it!
We do too!
Congrats on the new sponsorship! Here’s to continued success and bigger heights for you guys. Keep up the good work!
The viscosity of that non-shrink grout is your friend. It allows the mix to get back into the corners where you can't reach and self-level. So you box in the plate and drill 2 holes. One to pour in the mix, another small one to let air out.
Love the channel guys! Glad to hear you’re all safe after the storm.
So happy for Jaimie!
Us too!
4:51 I would have suggest putting the mud into a plastic bag, snip off a corner, and squeeze it into the space. Sort of how like bakers decorate a cake.
Or a pastry bag, they are thicker.
This project finale is going to be insane. Can't wait.
FYI, if you go to the website of the manufacturer of those deck beams, you can look up the size of the beam and find out how much it typically weighs per lineal foot. Multiply that value x the length of the beam and you'll know how much the beam weighs. Same for your steel beams. This is actually fairly important information for both the structural engineer to know (for dead load on the support columns and hence on the footings) but also for the general contractor, so he/she knows what kind of lift to use to get the beam in place.
Yeah! Tub O Towel and you could get the weight of the beam by weighing the off cut and measuring its thickness then multiplying the weight by length of the beam
Oh sorry I do love the videos, you have a excellent team, crew plus hopefully get on. That takes the pain away of the hard, hard graft. The banter and friendship 👍
Great video as always. I’d love to see 30, 40, 50, or 60 minutes videos. Of course that would quadruple the editing time, lol. We’ll take what we can get!
I'm guessing this was filmed the same week Helene hit you guys? I know WNC got hit with heavy rain just prior to that, so seeing the rain in this video made me think that's the case. Anyway, great video as always, looking forward to Friday's live.
"hey brock no pressure but we only have 10 min before rain " Brock:😎 i only need 9 . LOL made me bust out
AS I've said before, I could watch these all day
i have two tub o towels in my van at all times. they really are the sheet. glad you guys found them and really happy they sponsored. awesome....
That's awesome!
I often find myself watching these videos and wondering exactly how much weight Jamie's prosthetic can support. There are times where he seems to effortlessly handle things that I would assume would break the velcro strap. The dexterity on that thing is also frankly *amazing*! I wish there was a video showcasing naked prosthetics work that is a bit longer. I'm really curious about the design an engineering of those.
Congratulations. Im super excited for you and the guys
And us! We are so excited to be working with them!
Tubbo towels! Yay! I certainly used my fair share on the Modern Retirement Home Build!
And Jamie and the really big boy toy - ❤
I bet the guys are EXTREMELY happy to be working without supervision this time ;)
@@bird9455 - no supervising on my part 😃 I was just temporary crew member 7 /grunt and gopher and occasional crew cook. It’s always great to run into them on occasion, I always get a heartfelt greeting and a hug! (Saw Jono and Arlo last night at a ceremony honoring Jono’s brother) Grateful for my beautifully built PBB and crew built home and glad they allowed me onsite to help and explained things about my house - it’s great having intimate knowledge of how it was put together! Forty plus year friendships with 2/3 of the crew has its advantages!
Ramel, there’s no need to respond or defend your life and actions to randos on the internet who took .2 seconds to think up a comment. Really.
Thanks for letting us watch your home build.
@@ClipSwitchFlashlights - you are welcome. It was certainly my pleasure to see my dream home come to fruition.
Smart move by Tub O. The only reason I have a box in my garage is because of you guys. It a good product too.
us too
Thanks!
Once thse columns have been built into the two opposite meeting roof angles and are fully lined they are going to look absolutely spectacular with the architecture of this Mega Modern Home the columns will really show off this stunning house that all you guys on the Perkins Crew involved on this build should be very proud of. Swish edit Erik, cheers for another episode of awesome entertainment Perkins Crew...
You guy's have way too much fun! It must be illegal.
Yep, you’ve got to form up for the grout at the steel plates. Basically pours in. At work we have used the blue foam with an angle cut into it to create a beveled edge. Looks good that way.
Patiently waiting for an update from the Perkins Bros to make sure them and their family and friends are okay
They made a post saying they were good.
They've made several posts at this point on here and on Instagram already
Third video back in description, Eric said they are all okay. If memory serves me, this is correct. I do hope they will let us know when the first video happens at this build after the storm. This may be the last one until then.
They’re ok but many of their neighbors are not. They are doing a live fundraising video tomorrow morning with Johnny from Crafted Workshop and a couple of other NC folks.
I have family in the area, and they're saying most people made it through the storms without any major damage, but a few unfortunate souls lost everything.
The bigger issue is much of the infrastructure was washed away, leaving them with no power, water or roads and bridges. It will be months, or even years in many cases, before they can rebuild.
My 1st time SEEING Brock! He went from mysterious gent, to getting a face to the big reputation. Thx E.P.
Tub O Towels great product if using Quad caulk or Lexel to clean your hands.
Thanks!
Y’all are amazing builders! I’ve rarely seen such attention to detail and quality workmanship, you build a fine house and seem to be very nice people. Wholesome ❤
Tub O towels are the bomb
💣💣💣 Thanks!
Love the channel guys you've been helping me learn so much visually currently taking a night carpentry course so i need all the real world examples 🙌 keep on building brothers
On the grout, pipe it in like icing a cake, then as it sets trowel the sides to make it look pretty.
When Grouting there's usually a grout hole and then the grout is poured with a form. There are premix products that come in a tub and those are not as runny. There is a risk of not getting the grout under the baseplate completely though.
Now that they've sponsored you, I've actually checked out Tub O' Towels and placed an order for their home variety pack.
OH!!! Let us know what you think!
I'm equally impressed that all Brock's equipment works when needed. That's not terribly common for contractors. LOL. And congrats on Tub O Towels FINALLY coming through. They should consider back-sponsorship.
This is a massive build... I really like it
I love this channel. I follow you from Morocco. Nice team and great work.
Y'all are doing an AMAZING job! That home is looking so nice😁
Team work makes The Dream work! An extra tagline is always good!
Tub O Towel sponsorship? "You did it! Congratulations! World's best tub o towel! Great job, everybody! It's great to be here." 😁
Thanks! We are thrilled too!
I was just sitting here thinking man I could use a tub o towel and only know of them cause you guys. And boom. Sponsored
You have good intuition!
I believe for the non-shrink grout, you should make a dry pack and stuff it in the space and compact it with a piece of wood cut to size. Love your videos btw!
Loved when for you did all the calculations for the deck post and Jason goes, uh. 😆
These videos just keep getting better and better! Nice work, everyone.
Go tub o towels. Keeps the scent down through the net too.
❤ Found you guys, in early 24!!! Love You! the NC is home for me 95South all the way!!!
The irony of that comment as we havent seen rain here in a while. Now they have the whole town washed out couple weeks after this was filmed.
I do wonder how much this project is going to be delayed by the effects of Helene. The supply line disruption has to be pretty significant and I suspect luxury new construction is going to be a lower priority than repairing homes of people who are otherwise homeless. But if they want to post videos of recovery efforts while the project is on hold, I'll definitely watch them.
@@rochelle1117I agree will miss the videos/pause of this project but will watch the other repairs too.
I caught that as well and wondered if anyone else noticed. Heard rumors from some other commenters that the house survived the storm but I can't imagine there not being a big delay in getting the build back to normal.
for the NS mortar ... you form it up like a picture frame... use X foam to seal and pump (pour slowly) it in...
Hope everything is well with all y’all. After hurricane
You guys are awesome. What an epic build
Hell yeah Tub O Towel! Love it!
😎
Thank You for not using the Mic on this episode. It was nice to hear normal again.
This is not the only channel I noticed this problem on.
I need me some Tub-O-towels 😂
You won't regret it! And we offer a money back guarantee!
Thanks for showing us viewers what Brock looks like! Been curious for a looooooong while.
Congrats on the sponsorship...... guys you should discuss the thicknesses for that garage slab with your engineer's..we usually do frome the highest spot of the metal decking... special since they will but cars inside
12:50 A clevis is for towing, for overhead lifting and rigging, it is a shackle.
Love your videos. And love the beer can glass even more!😊
Hi Erik, Jamie and crew, I really enjoy your videos. Nice mix of friendships, family, pro tips and good old "banter". One thing I do notice all the time is that you have to do a lot of heavy lifting to fairly high heights. While all of you are quite young and don't seem to carry any injuries the years do creep up on you and then it won't be so easy to do the things you do now. Have you seen a guy called Jake Rosenfeld on TH-cam? He's got an ancient old portable crane that he drags around from job to job in Oregon. He manages it through a remote control and works solo on framing some very big jobs. I thought that you guys could do with something like that.
Watching from Asheville, and oh, the irony of the “we haven’t had much rain” comments! We all had no idea what was coming.
The best Build show!
Agree!
Congrats to new PBB new sponorship: TOTs. BIG surprise for Jamie - smilin from ear to ear.
Us too! We are so excited!
It’s the fastest 21 minutes and 38 seconds on earth. I will rewatch later. lol thanks for the great videos!😊
Tub-o-towels for the win!!!!!
Yes!!
I'm happy for Jaime that he was so excited about Tub O Towel. I've never seen them anywhere but I might look for them someday.
Did you guys get any of those storms that hit?
This video went by so fast. I'm looking forward to the next one.
Read the bag on the no shrink grout it can be mixed to multiple consistencies. Pourable is nice and easy but requires forms
5:06 that happens using a product you never used before, happens to all of us, I had to break apparts and redo some projects too because of not being familiar to new products. It sucks but that's life. Live and learn man..
Tub o towels how perfect ❤
Agree!
Jamie, keep the boom/bucket down when you're in the excavator moving around. Don't want you falling down that hill .
TUBO TOWEEEEEELSSS!!! we finally made it BIG!!! :D yeaaaaa
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve watched the genisis of a ‘restoration of my grandfather s 7000$ mansion’. And all of yours since before arlo took less work. And all the jay and ray sides vids. Terribly entertaining.
Should put grout in pastry bag & squeeze in use a brick pointing tool or very narrow parting trowel
