Little tip regarding the plugin count limitation: Whatever tracks you have keys laid down on and set in stone, on the Main screen in the Track section, hit the Pencil Icon to the right of it, and it'll bring up some options. The reason why the older workstations could do 16 tracks was because they had a fixed architecture running on hardware designed to run the sound engines. Or they had a ton of DSP chips. But when Korg released the Oasys and later the Kronos hardware makers realised they could just use general purpose processors and make a DAW in the box pretty much like a PC (Kronos is Linux and an Intel x86 processor). The current MPC range is using ARM processors for power and heat reasons, the processor is probably a fraction of the speed of your phone and when you think about what it is doing it's pretty incredible really. On your workstations of old you had to plugin extra boards if you wanted a new sound engine, now you can just download it.
@@GeorgiaMuscleFilms You got that right! I own an Akai Force and it's hard to ignore all the things it should have but doesn't simply because Akai didn't want to step on the toes of other products. It really needed a larger screen that tilts because somethings on it are too small to edit/use comfortably like the sequencer. A lack of dedicated buttons also so there's a plethora of shift+ features and every update adds something new to it that makes it harder to use comfortably. One update changing the entire way the machine is used and you often have to relearn things (Akai does update the user manual so that helps). The only reason the Force lacks stuff is because Akai didn't want it to directly compete with the MPC X When it really should have been an MPC -X like design with 64 pads instead of the usual. Seeing all these new MPC renditions from the SE to the One to the Key 37 and how the Force complaints are ignored makes you realize they really don't give a damn. Any time you see a product that sells for $1300 going for $600used says that people no longer value it and it's market value is probably what people feel that it's worth. Granted I feel like the Force is the 2nd best offering next to the MPC-X in what is capable of offering and doing but it has limitations that don't make it so much fun or creative to use. "It's more like how do I do this and that again?"
MPC 37 was never meant to compete with full fledged synthesizers. but more of a beat and samples loop song creator with an option to have extra synthesizers available in a professional easy to use and the best sequencer. MPC is a sampling beat machine with a keyboard with icying on the top as it's main selling point and focus, and not vice versa. If you dig and use and need synthesizers so much, then you should get a synthesizer instead of a sampling keyboard. I have a synthesizers for synth stacking and tracks, and an MPC beat machine for beats, an sampling keyboard for sampling keyboard parts. MPC Keys are specialty items, and not trying to be Me Too synthesizers, but something extra on top of the MPC platform that can take your loop or beat to the next level from a basic beat, or beat machine.

I dont ask these type of questions....yeah to zzounds & sweetwater but ive been on a break for about 3 years ....
Maximum profits with the least effort... and it's mostly us, the consumers, that are allowing for this to happen. The hardware has to be able to support the software. I was hoping for all future releases to improve overall after seeing them bump up the specs. on the MPC X SE. Sadly, I was mistaken.
I’m assuming that the MPC taps out at 8 key groups because it also has to make room for the multi samples, drum programs, audio tracks, clips, and midi tracks.
Hopefully a MPC user out there is also a hacker who creates a patch to hack the OS to "see" the SSD drive or SD card as additional RAM. There's got to be a way to do this.
Now that I know the limitations of this device I'm cool with it,,, for an old-school R&b producer like myself who also happened to be a keyboard player first & foremost,,, I will just connect a rack mount like Yamaha motif to it and I'm Cool,, But for a lightweight solution ,,buy an iPad and put Korg gadget on it and use it as a sound module. Or you can do exactly what he said earlier and just use the MPC to start the foundation of your songs and then drop it into a DAW to complete 🎯
lol 😂 Arturia Microlab 25 key alone with the MPC software on computer to have use of 128 tracks and VST plugins at your disposal. Easily pack up for travel also smaller blueprint IMO. One love my brother
Workstations of the past all had their iconic sounds burned into rom and instantly available. Akai in those days was a great sampler, sequencer and drum machine but NOT a stand alone workstation. With 4 midi outputs connected to Triton, Motif, Fantom, Minimoog 90s was a fun time. Akai future seems to be a hardware machine that runs its own software instruments. They will have to crank up the CPU to lure me in and perhaps add Flash Rom like the new motifs.
WHATS A WORK STATION AND HOW MANY TRACKS CAN IT RECORD AND WHAT IS A AKAI KEY 61, AND TO BE HONEST THE FANTOM WAS DOING ALL THE STUFF (SAMPLING, MAKING PATCHES, ETC) THE AKAI DOES WITHOUT THE KEYBOARD AND WE TALKING 05-06. IM OWN ALL THE DEVICES IM TELLING YOU FROM USING THEM.

@@GeorgiaMuscleFilms my thing is the cost of a powerful mini i7 pc is around $900 a Mac mini around $1500 avg so I don’t see a reason for their standalone being so weak cpu and ram wise for $1500 the keyboard should be at least 30% more powerful and the x at least 50% more powerful People will save pay for a full package Akai needs to get that in their heads. Technology is also growing very fast so they should also do cheaper controller versions of the keys and the X and make them modular with the ability to become standalone if needed
The ability to do 16 sounds on an older machine vs 6 instruments on the newer machine is about the difference in technology... Keyboards still to this day (Yamaha Montage, Roland Fantom, Korg Nautilus and etc) work on a ROM system... while the AKAI is working on a RAM system (same as VST instruments on your computer) - its convenient but not efficient... memory when talking about storage is cheap but not so much when talking RAM or modern CPUs... and this is the problem when a company jumps off into a new lane... with that said - I don't think it's AKAI's intentions (as of now) to replace or even compete with dedicated keyboard manufactures more as to offer an additional tool or solution... and there's always the cumbersome task of bouncing down to audio which uses significantly less resources... As an MPC X owner and longtime user who has always just seen my MPC as my sequencer and drum programming - the Key 61/37 doesn't make sense to me because other options exist that I consider better

I have the Live 2 and Key 61 and they are both expensive scratch pads lol. They dope tho, I especially love the Live 2 but I may sell the Key
Exactly I understand
Questions....
You think its safe to buy a used motif ...i had one in 2010...the sounds & feel...was unmatched too me ...
I want something with drum pads though...
Modx 6 with some type of drum pad controller ...
I was going for the 37 keys mpc ..
But after your veiw ... I understand...ill be limited ...creative wise...
Facts
I’m assuming that the MPC taps out at 8 key groups because it also has to make room for the multi samples, drum programs, audio tracks, clips, and midi tracks.
That’s sad
and still no "tempo change" feature brought back. Like the old days
no lies detected!!! #oldschoololdrules
I’m just being honest
I was thinking about replacing my Yamaha Moxf 8 with Akai 37, but after watching your video I change my mind and stay with Moxf 8
Glad I could help!
So if you had a choice between old mpc + new age synth or the mpc key 37, which would you pick?
IM THE 3000 HEAVY HEAVY, I LOOKING INTO THE Oberheim
@GeorgiaMuscleFilms I may get a mpc 2500 and a new school synth and call it a day for now, I can't be limited for layering sounds.
Hopefully a MPC user out there is also a hacker who creates a patch to hack the OS to "see" the SSD drive or SD card as additional RAM. There's got to be a way to do this.
The Keys 37 is cool. As someone who bought the MPC ONE + as their first MPC along with an Arturia Keystep 37, no need for me.
Nice setup
Is the key 37 worth it @@GeorgiaMuscleFilms
Now that I know the limitations of this device I'm cool with it,,, for an old-school R&b producer like myself who also happened to be a keyboard player first & foremost,,, I will just connect a rack mount like Yamaha motif to it and I'm Cool,, But for a lightweight solution ,,buy an iPad and put Korg gadget on it and use it as a sound module. Or you can do exactly what he said earlier and just use the MPC to start the foundation of your songs and then drop it into a DAW to complete 🎯
Facts
Big Facts Bro!
IM JUST TELLING THE TRUTH
What up doe? Speak tha truth
Facts
lol 😂 Arturia Microlab 25 key alone with the MPC software on computer to have use of 128 tracks and VST plugins at your disposal. Easily pack up for travel also smaller blueprint IMO. One love my brother
Dope Review! 2gb of ram … you may get 3 or 4 instruments before it maxes out in standalone 🤦♂️
That’s crazy
U only get 8 tracks?
Instrument plugin tracks
Workstations of the past all had their iconic sounds burned into rom and instantly available.
Akai in those days was a great sampler, sequencer and drum machine but NOT a stand alone workstation.
With 4 midi outputs connected to
Triton, Motif, Fantom, Minimoog 90s was a fun time.
Akai future seems to be a hardware machine that runs its own software instruments.
They will have to crank up the CPU to lure me in and perhaps add Flash Rom like the new motifs.
Facts
those keyboard sequencer were just triggering midi tho sir
WHATS A WORK STATION AND HOW MANY TRACKS CAN IT RECORD AND WHAT IS A AKAI KEY 61, AND TO BE HONEST THE FANTOM WAS DOING ALL THE STUFF (SAMPLING, MAKING PATCHES, ETC) THE AKAI DOES WITHOUT THE KEYBOARD AND WE TALKING 05-06. IM OWN ALL THE DEVICES IM TELLING YOU FROM USING THEM.
But if you are making hiphop how many tracks do you need 8 at most
its 2024 we shouldn't have such a minimal limit
Did I understand it correctly, the sequencer has really only 8 tracks? That would be a joke...
You only can use 8 sound plugins (hype, fabric) so like 8 sounds (keys , bass, synth)
I'll never buy a 1st generation machine from Akai or any company... 2nd Gen and up only... just look at the Live 1 vs Live 2. 2nd gen for the most part are always better
Facts
The solution would be to allow us to upgrade the memory ourselves.
big facts
128 track in controller mode. You obviously don't know.
you must not watch my channel strictly standalone mode
8 instrument tracks and 16 tracks are 2 different things. You can get 16 tracks on the mpc 37. Also bouncing instrument track to wav takes 5 seconds
The Key 37 is excellent
HEY IF IT WORKS FOR YOU THATS ALL THAT MATTER
Triton Le was a beast
One+ and mpk mini is better option for me
Never limit your imagination or your mind.
Facts
wow didnt know it did that at 8 tracks... thats crazy bro..
You can bounce to track and keep creating
@@CJTheMaestroor use controller mode and not even have to use the computer screen if you like working stand alone, right?
Disk streaming will solve a lot of
I comment it basically almost about the same thing when I did a review but my thought is this most kids today make trap music which is nothing but ado 8 drums and a melody line and a base that's it so I guess they're assume no one layers and uses multiple instruments to make real music or R and BI comment it basically almost about the same thing when I did a review but my thought is this most kids today make trap music which is nothing but 808 drums and a melody line and a base that's it so I guess they assume no one layers and uses multiple instruments to make real music or R&B
That’s a facts , that’s why I’m like they phasing us old heads out
«… or what have you.» x 36
if nektar and reason made a stand alone panorama p6 akai would be in big trouble.i would only buy the key 37 to travel with and use as a quick brain storm.
BIG FACTS, A REASON STANDALONE WOULD BE INTERESTING
💯
My thing is they took away the locate buttons from the transport section so it is not a real Mpc maybe it is a hybrid Mpc 🤷♂️
Mpc must have full locate transport buttons for a speedy workflow if the first Mpc studio had full Mpc transport and locate why go backwards 🤷♂️
Secondly they should have included their fabric Xl. plugin synth for $899
Other that the obvious downsides it’s a beautiful unit
Every Mpc user will need one at some point I predict it will be a best seller
YEA BECAUSE THEY REALLY MOVING EVERYBODY TO THE SOFTWARE, BUT IM STANDALONE ONLY WHEN I USE THE NEW MPC.
@@GeorgiaMuscleFilms the software is really good once you are gain staging correctly
@@GeorgiaMuscleFilms my thing is the cost of a powerful mini i7 pc is around $900 a Mac mini around $1500 avg
so I don’t see a reason for their standalone being so weak cpu and ram wise for $1500 the keyboard should be at least 30% more powerful and the x at least 50% more powerful
People will save pay for a full package Akai needs to get that in their heads.
They should have went and at least put 8 to 16 or 32 gigs of ram in all the modern day MPC’S
❤
I own the live2 and the mpc one plus and the mpc key37 im done🤣🤣🤣
Which one do you like the most?
Ugh just trying to make a quick buck how bout the converters and circuitry it's sad just toys to me sad to say it's almost a grand that's gonna put someone back dang what's going on with this world
Yeah they just keep making the same device over n over n different colors
It doesn’t even have an ssd storage bay👎🏽
Bra 🤦🏽
You get 8 of their software synth tracks which aren’t very good anyways. I think their focus is controlling your whole studio with midi.
My biggest problem with MPC is RAM. Why are they so stingy with the ram? A person in the comments hit it on the nail about. We should at least have four gigs of ram cell phones have more RAM than these instruments. That's embarrassing! 💯🤟🏽
Facts
Na. In my opinion, get the MPC live 2.
They are gatekeeping the ram to make $ releasing stuff with more ram every few years.. we all fools 😂
Akai in 2024 can only record 5 minutes of audio and it stop. Yes
Don't let keep counting all the basics that 20 years gears have but Akai not even thinking. I blame the lazy musicians who only sample and chop other people's music and call it an Art. When you stealing another person's art.
Akai are just 'Akai' and not 'Akai Professional' anymore ( it's all about the money grab. Plus that colour is puke, when my nephew comes in the room and sees that shit he be pointing and laughing (and he's only 7).
They dropped the ball not givivng you one. but i bet the GOOD BROTHER EA-SKI will getyou with Andy Mac and fix this
Hahaha it’s all good, n gods time everything will workout for the best
Naw made music on what ever floats your boat. F all music gatekeepers and their opinions you will find your audience if you make good music
Battery is a Must for a 37key! Otherwise, there is NO POINT!
Big facts
No battery
2GB ram WTF........its 2024
I’m sayin
Whoever bought the 61 keys just got scammed

You just can afford it lol mine a beast 🔥
