I hate to hear coming out of people's mouths, I feel like screaming at them, 'Do you want to see what's happening or not?' or 'Do you want to see how they're feeling (by holding on their face a second a two) or not?' Dramatic pauses are part and parcel of drama and intended to clearly communicate what needs to be communicated for dramatic effect. Please everybody stop complaining when a character freezes in a movie, it's for your benefit believe me.

"Gremlins" was an old term used to describe glitches in machinery which caused catastrophe or harm. For instance if a seemingly good plane with sound pilot crashed, it could be said it was caused by gremlins aka mechanical problems and glitches which brought down the plane.
Fun fact: when I was in kindergarten, we went on a trip to the zoo and the zoo was out of state because the one in state wasn’t all that so we had to watch a movie. They played this movie for us and I have loved it ever since. The parents was mad but the kids sure did enjoy it

Gremlins used to scare the shit out of me as a kid. Especially since I had one of those Furby animatronic toys. Always used to think it would turn into a Gremlin somehow.
I remember watching this movie in the theater as a kid back in the day. I thought the kitchen scene was a little bit scary and then laughing my ass off when the lady was sent flying out of the window! I actually like the second movie better and even my dad laughed like crazy at that one.
That's what makes this movie memorable. If they'd gone with the original version of the script where there was no Stripe and no Gizmo, just evil Mogwai's who are all evil even before they turn into Gremlins and have sad green eyes before they transform and angry green eyes after they transform and Billy never bonded with any of them and Barney and the mum got eaten and just as we think it's over it all starts again at the ending we'd have a very disturbing movie but it wouldn't really have stood out amongst any other creature horror film. Keep some of the genuine suspense, stress and scares, add some genuine sweetness, peacefulness and gentleness from Gizmo who knows what will happen to him if he gets wet and if he eats after midnight and doesn't want to become a gremlin and also knows that if he get wet the other mogwai will all be mean (we saw how sad and tearful he looked after the others were born) and doesn't want anyone to get hurt and also add the slapstick and laughs from the rest of the gremlins because they're both genuinely scary and genuinely funny and we have a classic that stays in peoples minds. Plus the dialogue in this final script is better and they have a full sing-along, along with Gizmo's song and the Gremlins theme music - I think before Mrs Deagle came out they were humming a Christmas carol and when she came out they started singing their theme

The story the girl tells about her dad being found in the fire place kind of became a joke after the movie came out. people were saying that it just comes out of nowhere. she was a debbie downer. so when they made Gremlins 2 they decided do a joke based on that story. but being how Gremlins 2 is a different crazier funnier movie the whole joke comes out differently. Pilots during WW2 claimed that they would see these creatures on the wings of their planes. they would call them Gremlins. eventually Gremlins was a term used to explain malfunctioning vehicles, equipment and such because Gremlins were said to destroy these things. Billy's mom was pretty bad-ass in this film! I read a copy of the very first screenplay, which was picked apart and improved upon to make this film, and in it Billy's mother was a valium addict with a nervous personality who got beheaded and eaten by the gremlins. The final version of the movie was SO much better. This isn't masterful cinema, but it's an excellent movie that does what it needs to do - keep you entertained and interested in what's going on. There was quite a lot of world building that we never see, but that's okay - because the director and actors had a good foundation to work from, they were able to make the movie make sense. I love this movie for Christmas. I don't take it too seriously, but just sit back, enjoy my popcorn, and watch with amusement. And I will give total props to the effects department - the practical effects in this film are WAY better than they needed to be.
You might want to consider reacting to Willow (1988) as it is being adapted into a series. The original movie was a Ron Howard film with Val Kilmer and Warwick Davis (had duel role in Harry Potter movies as both the goblin Griphook and Professor Flintwick.) It was by Lucusfilm as well. Fantasy Film
Gremlins 2 is even more funny and less scary. You should react to it. If you want another great horror comedy movie you should watch the first Tremors (1990) movie with Kevin Bacon. Fun fact the guy who play Billy creepy boss (The Santa Clause Guy) played with the actress who plays Kate Billy's love interest in another movie 2 years before. The movie High Times in Richmond High where the actress who plays Kate got famous because a very memorable bikini scene and The Guy who played Billy Boss was "Simping" on her if you know what I mean :)
Gremlin is a good Christmas movie I think. There's a lot of funny scenes in it. I'm hoping one day you will get around to review lady in a cage with Olivia Havilland and James Cann a good movie.
Mrs. Deegle is like Ms. Gulch from The Wizard of Oz. At least in this case the nasty old bitch gets her comeuppance. You would probably really enjoy the sequel. It pokes fun at the rules of the first one and has a lot of creativity with the gremlins themselves. Gizmo's cutest moment in the sequel (imo anyway) is a moment when he dances to music by Fats Domino.
Actually you wouldn't be able to make a ton of money selling these things as the owner of the first one you sell to could then create more by getting it wet and then he could sell those and so on and so forth. It's a self-defeating process.
When she talks about her dad, darkest part in the film, funny though since the film was meant to be more horror but they went for the bigger audiance and added more comedy. I had to google it, but seven people died in the movie, not just mrs. deagle and the teacher. A more horror version would probably show the gremlins more explicitly violent and killing people, entrails, etc. Stripe throwing saw blades at Billy hinted at it. Left to themselves to run amok there would have been more violence and bloody mayhem if the Gremlins weren’t so quickly stopped.

This isn't masterful cinema, but it's an excellent movie that does what it needs to do - keep you entertained and interested in what's going on. There was quite a lot of world building that we never see, but that's okay - because the director and actors had a good foundation to work from, they were able to make the movie make sense.
I love this movie for Christmas. I don't take it too seriously, but just sit back, enjoy my popcorn, and watch with amusement. And I will give total props to the effects department - the practical effects in this film are WAY better than they needed to be.
You might want to consider reacting to Willow (1988) as it is being adapted into a series. The original movie was a Ron Howard film with Val Kilmer and Warwick Davis (had duel role in Harry Potter movies as both the goblin Griphook and Professor Flintwick.) It was by Lucusfilm as well. Fantasy Film

Gremlins 2 is even more funny and less scary. You should react to it. If you want another great horror comedy movie you should watch the first Tremors (1990) movie with Kevin Bacon. Fun fact the guy who play Billy creepy boss (The Santa Clause Guy) played with the actress who plays Kate Billy's love interest in another movie 2 years before. The movie High Times in Richmond High where the actress who plays Kate got famous because a very memorable bikini scene and The Guy who played Billy Boss was "Simping" on her if you know what I mean :)
Gremlin is a good Christmas movie I think. There's a lot of funny scenes in it. I'm hoping one day you will get around to review lady in a cage with Olivia Havilland and James Cann a good movie.
Hulu added Lady in a Cage recently. I haven't seen it in years but I remember liking it a lot.
Mrs. Deegle is like Ms. Gulch from The Wizard of Oz. At least in this case the nasty old bitch gets her comeuppance.
You would probably really enjoy the sequel. It pokes fun at the rules of the first one and has a lot of creativity with the gremlins themselves. Gizmo's cutest moment in the sequel (imo anyway) is a moment when he dances to music by Fats Domino.

Actually you wouldn't be able to make a ton of money selling these things as the owner of the first one you sell to could then create more by getting it wet and then he could sell those and so on and so forth. It's a self-defeating process.

When she talks about her dad, darkest part in the film, funny though since the film was meant to be more horror but they went for the bigger audiance and added more comedy. I wouldn't want a remake because I love this film, but I always wondered what a more horror version would of been like.

I had to google it, but seven people died in the movie, not just mrs. deagle and the teacher. A more horror version would probably show the gremlins more explicitly violent and killing people, entrails, etc. Stripe throwing saw blades at Billy hinted at it. Left to themselves to run amok there would have been more violence and bloody mayhem if the Gremlins weren’t so quickly stopped.
