did anything come of the strathclyde review? everything ive read suggests government considered it and concluded they needed to consider it some more and then nothing happened. so is convention on lords relation to statutory instruments just up in the air?
Hi Alan, great video as always. I was just wondering whether there was a file or a website to access some of the PowerPoints you create; it would be convenient to access them quickly when going over notes in addition to watching the vids of course. No worries if not.
Heyy, what do you mean by government had 'defeats in the lords'. Does this mean legislation was amended significantly in the lords, or does it mean that the bills were stopped entirely? Also, I read a statistic once saying just 10 government-backed bills failed to pass into law 1997-2010 - does this sound right?!! Thanks so much, love the videos!!!!!!!!
good luck to anyone doing last minute revision
you know it 👊

Thank you for your comment, the power points are not currently available online I'm afraid but this something I'm going to look into

Defeats meaning they lost votes on their bills in the Lords. Lords can't completely block a bill, can only delay for a year
crazy how this was only created a year ago and so much as happened
Very helpful - thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Good times when the House of Lords had interference power. Today British politics is dominated by this rabble of the commons.
