Great job Bentley! Outstanding work ethics. Praying for you to have a very successful career. I know without a doubt that your Dad is so proud of you! Good job
Oooh sweet, I did that on an old sears and roebuck riding lawnmower, and it twisted the frame. Also welded the rear diff spider gears so she was full posi trac... It did almost 35 mph, I had someone speedo it in a car going down the road. Wear your brain bucket son! GOODTIMES! 👍😎👍
Here's an old one for ya--in my teens, I restored an old Tru-Value tractor-mower. In high school, we had the Industrial Arts class, with a large garage behind the school building. Got her running! Great times, great memories.
Hay little grip, great video. I have that same mower. The carb is the cause of the starting issue. After a few days it looses prime. Also be careful shock loading that hydrostatic transmission, it will strip the teeth out of the drive pully.
You need a manual mower, one with gears. The hydrostatic transaxles have an internal pressure relief so they will only go so fast and you are probably at the limit already. Its could have a low oil sensor shutting it off on bumps but most likely the float bouncing that is causing your issue if not. Awesome job! 🔥🤘🔥
Bentley, you did find the tractor empty of oil and to my knowledge you didn't ever top it off, unless you did that off camera, so that is a STRONG possibility!
Little grip most of the kids don't know what chores are.your parents. Are teaching you a lesson by making you have chores? You just don't understand that yet, but you all will and thank you for your channel. Because my little nephew is autistic and you've got him wanting to go out and work on the Jeep with me. So thank you very much for your channel. You're motivating young kid.
Hey Bentley? The reason you have problems with the brake and the seat safety switch is because you don't set the parking brake, which is what the orange lever on the "driver's" side is for. Set the parking brake and you wouldn't have to rig the seat safety switch to make it stay running. You've commented in the past about not being heavy enough to trip the seat safety switch. Just be patient and give yourself a couple more years growing and it won't be a problem for you anymore LOL! Also, even though you don't have the mower deck on it, you still need to make sure the "blades" aren't "on" as that system has a safety switch in it as well.
That pully on the engine is called a "stackedpully " the spindles are located on the cutting deck !!!!! Your doing a wonderful job!!!! I worked on mower and saws for 40 years years message me if you have any questions !!!!! Love LGG VGG ❤
@@user-mv5bu2kk8b No Dude, not talking the residue, he is referring to the backing film on the new sticker...and rubbing alcohol is much better sovent as you don't have to clean the greasy mess from the WD-40 to apply the new sticker anyway and the surface is prepped for the new sticker...sticker class 101
Another good learning experience. It's great watching you learn and improve both your thinking and your mechanical skills. Remember - everything you change is likely to affect something else. You start going faster, you will need to upgrade the suspension and brakes!
Great job man! The running stuttering and black smoke is a carb issue. Either the float level is a little high so it’s flooding when you hit bumps or the choke is possibly engaging somehow. May want to look into a different style carb altogether. Keep it up!
The engine cutting out might be a low oil sensor incorrectly reading due to the bouncing at higher speeds. Might want to lower the tire pressure for a smoother ride.
That was my first thought… Possibly the low oil cut-off sensor/switch due to the bouncing!!! Good thought on the tire pressure too. Think old-school ATV with no suspension.... 😂😂😂🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸
Do these mowers have the cut off switch under the seat? Safety thing if the user falls off the mower shuts it down, mine does and it can trigger if you are going over bumpy terrain.
Awesome job Little Grip. The spare sticker would look cool on the hood right behind the headlight grill. Then you can see it while ripping along the trails.
I was going to say you might think about a heat gun and flat edge, but you keep doing it your way buddy cause you can get it done. Love watching you work
Excellent job and awesome explaination. Back in the day in 'Fitting and Turning' theory class, we had to do pulley calculations on paper, long before electronic calculators, some machines have multiple pulleys of different sizes, drove me crazy.
This channel is brilliant. My parents house came with a lawn tractor (old blue ford) 40 years ago - and I must say I never thought of hot rodding it, or jumping it LOL. Suggestion - instead of measuring mph to demonstrate speed increase, you should just film a before and after of your mullet hair blowing back in slow-motion.
Looks like a fun project. Good job. If you remove that seat switch, there is a wire spring in the connector. Pull it out with needle nose pliers and you don't need to connect the switch.
Love the content little grip. I've got an old John Deere myself. Pretty much bone stock. I love what you're doing with it and I love that your dad's helping you along the way. Keep it up Bentley. And kudos to your dad Derek. Derek, you're raising a fine boy.
Right on little grip 🤘🏼 your dad and you guys are good people, if I ever have kids they’d be watching your videos. Much respect. Those models are really torquey
You are so cute ☺️ so glad your on TH-cam you will be just like your dad. Love watching him everyday and you helping him on some of the trucks. Good job will be watching you all the time.
Hey Little Grip, you should sell the finished pullys in your store. Great job. I use my old LA105 to pull my 4x8 trailer around. Great job! You are doing an awesome job with your channel.
Had a jd mower that style it also helps to remove the beverage holder when threading that belt plus raise the steering shaft. They are a pain but after you figure out the tricks its a little smoother 😅😊
yeah a hair dryer would have got the old stickers off way easier. Pretty cool how you get to figure out much of the project. Dad probably did that too when he was a young fella. Stay grounded and enjoy being a kid, we grow up way too fast
Great job I also thought the other sticker could go on the hood. But on your tool box is a cool idea one that will last a long time after the tractor dies away.
Two ideas about the cutting out. The carburetor on those have a solenoid on the bottom that cuts fuel when you shut it down so it doesn't backfire, hitting hard bumps makes it move up and down, effectively cutting the fuel to the main jet in the carb. You can take it off and cut/grind the needle a little shorter to stop that. Could also be the oil level sensor but that isn't quite as likely
FYI, there should be a fan on the transmission (above or below the input pulley). Make sure that fan is there, if not, you need to get one for it. With that transmission spinner faster than designed, it will over-heat and crap out on you. Well done on the pulley situation. Looks like a fun project.
Bentley, your Mom's handheld hairdryer on low (so you don't melt the green plastic) for a minute or two would work wonders for removing decals from anything. Then some spray-can Goo Gone and a good rag will take off the residue and sticky stuff pretty quick, you might want to pick up a can when you do your next decal removal or replacement project. ; )
Great job! Not 100% on this, but an old gokart I made probably 20, 25 years ago had an oil level sensor in the motor that would cause the same symptoms when sending it real hard.
That pulley swap was pretty cool that thing is definitely noticeably quicker off the line , definitely looks a lot quicker off the line and you still have some torque it looks like, way to go Bentley.
Cutting out on bumps.... Seat sensor? I assume you already disconnected that one. Check for loose wires and connections. Sounds great! Glad you got to take it for a rip and use it for work. Good job Bentley. Keep up the good work. Be safe!
Great work..i work for john deere and yes the sabre is a well known tractor up here in Canada. Keep it up young man. Oh and btw that small gear is a common replacement parts..just like that triangle piece the gear runs on. And the plastic bushing on top of the gear. X2 lol

I think I’ve never seen Bentley more excited than when it started working in the shop. Later I think I saw his mullet smoking and possibly on fire as he tore through the tree rows.
As a person who manufactures this type of sticker and even for other mower companies, the slit in the middle of the sticker is for you to lay it up there where you want it, and then start in middle and peel from the slit out on one side then the other. That will make your life easier.
Man, it’s been great watching Bentley developing grow as a fine young man through this TH-cam channel! He sure does have a lot of confidence! I’m pretty sure great parents help as well! Keep on trucking Bentley nice job!😊
Nice job on the mower! As for the cutting out, see if the engine has a low oil sensor. Jumper that out and see if it runs over the bumps better without cutting out. Otherwise I'm guessing the fuel level in the carb is a bit high and it's flooding out, you could bend the floats down, so the carb bowl holds a bit less fuel. Also, try lowering the tire pressure so the tire sidewalls give a bit on the bumps, that might help too. Those carbs aren't meant to take a lot of rough riding like that, so worst case you might have to graft on a different style carb, more like you would find on a racing engine or a motorcycle. One last thing, that hydro tranny is probably about at its max at those speeds. If you want to go fast on a riding lawnmower, something with regular (non-hydro) gears will take more abuse and probably last longer. Good luck and thanks for the video!

You can use something like a tape that’s not to sticky to use as a guide line to mark the area you want to place the sticker so it’s placed in the same area on both sides. Just a few tips but you may have better tips you are using as you know already. Great vids. Keep up the great projects and fix its. Well done
Be careful pulling that screw driver towards you. I learned the hard way when I was young by it slipping and giving me a good poke in the belly. Keep up the good work.
great channel! you are doing a great job Bentley. For the engine cutting, If I were you, I would look at the oil level. there is probably a oil level sensor in this thing, and when you get a bump or to fast on a corner, or I saw even climbing a small hill, your oil might be low or you might want to keep the oil a bit higher.
Change your carburetor to an ATV style.. Bumps are causing the float to bounce shutting the fuel off. Keep up the great work Bentley, more hands on the more you learn. Stay safe my friend.

Agree with the zip tie the seat switch Bently they can be a problem sometimes as a mower gets older
That really scoots
The black smoke would be the carburetor float bouncing when you hit a bump and choking it out.
