@@ElaborateLime Maybe this is an overly cynical/pessimistic view but I assume it's to drive more engagement to the channel and increase algorithm friendliness or whatever by having more uploads of shorter videos that people are more likely to fully watch than the single full stream vod or something.
Regarding blockbuster. The term was actually first coined by publicists who drew on readers' familiarity with the blockbuster bombs, drawing an analogy with the bomb's huge impact. The trade press subsequently appropriated the term as short-hand for a film's commercial potential.
Your discussion about Ted Lasso reminded me of the show The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. It's a fish-out-of-water story and the first season was great.
@@alexl2679 That first season was amazing. When the show started taking itself too seriously and the half hour format was stretched out to different runtimes, that’s when it started sucking.
TINTIN ROXX i got the old DVD collection 7-DISC 21 comics adapted to animated, seen them 10-20 times atleast! ;)) pr0per journalist + a drunken seacaptain perfect combo ;P TINTIN + LUCKY LUKE + ASTERIX & OBELIX + SPIROU + GASTON etcetc popular in europe and translated to many lang.
_Dune: Prophecy_ reminds me of the miniseries _Tin Man._ • Great character writing • Stripped-down reimagining of a beloved IP • Low-budget for its scale but very smart about its production design making the practical sets and CG environments blend together naturally. • Slow pace with lowkey, subversive tone • The older character actors steal every scene they're in • Show has nothing wrong with it, but something about it feels cold and empty. It's a rock-solid show, I like the story and genuinely want to know what the characters do next; but it lacks some _oomph_ and needs a better hook, and I totally understand why most people can't be arsed to watch it.
Regarding The Sandbaggers. It is a British spy series comprising twenty 50-minute episodes produced by Yorkshire Television, an ITV franchise. The stories centered on the elite covert operations section of British Intelligence, nicknamed the Sandbaggers, and their boss, Neil Burnside, himself a former Sandbagger but now having to battle more with British bureaucracy than with enemy agents. It was set contemporaneously with its original broadcast in the late '70s and early '80s when the Cold War still dominated the Western intelligence agenda.
I absolutely adore that show. One of my all-time great pieces of spy fiction, despite being shot on a budget of loose change dug out of the sofa and mostly being people talking in rooms.
Sandbaggers one of the best spy series of all time, tough and grounded in real world situations - grim and downbeat, especially the end of its first season which is shocking and could never be shown on a us show. Up there with Tinker Tailor, Smiley's People and Edge of Darkness as the best spy shows of all time.
Series based on something; would love to have seen the Psy War parts of Babylon 5 made, but also would love to see a full adaptation, perhaps animated for the accuracy/budget, of Brian Lumley 's first 5 Necroscope books.
I haven't read the foundation books but I enjoyed the show, I like the pretty visuals and it's hard carried by a few really good performances. It's a very 2020s tv show which can get jarring, I wish it was better.

Iirc "Blockbuster" refers to the fact that people would line up all the way outside, _down the block,_ waiting for tickets to Jaws and Star Wars.
