But while friendly, they won't just give everything desired because they have a moral compass that doesn't want to be responsible for one person killing another person with an alien plasma lance. or something involving some nightmarish fiery weapon that could destroy large swaths of area. And some of their technology is just benign in purpose but mishandled it becomes .... well potentially could unleash a micro black hole capable of destroying the planet. So it has to be very carefully handled and best kept off the world and away from the planet. you put it in orbit and it's just going to end up falling into the planet etc. I assume space is big and lonely, and they just want friends, and to make sure we have time to bond together and actually blend our cultures enough to actually be compatible long term... space traveling companions. I mean... everyone wants friends. Everyone wants to do good things for their friends. And everyone wants to keep their friends from accidentally destroying themselves and everything they love. That's sort of how I picture the aliens that keep visiting. Although the X-Files was always fun to watch as a kid with my mom.
