I’m from Oshkosh where the Oshkosh Truck factory is located and it does me proud to see you having one of their trucks and it’s still running strong! They’ve built racing trucks in the past that could compete with corvettes with all the same power of the HEMTT.

Knew it was a HEMTT from the thumbnail. Those are absolute monsters! The wreckers and the PLS are awesome. Some have the big De-troit Diesels that have a turbo feeding into the blower. They turn like a 50 foot long 2x4 but that's no problem, they can just run over whatever is in the way lol. On a sad note, knew a guy that was in a convoy going to Ft. Drum in one. Some teens were driving recklessly and cutting hin off. He ended up running the car over and killing all of them because they drove in front of him too close. He would never drive the big stuff again and really messed him up. GOVE LARGE VEHICLES ROOM AND STAY AWAY FROM THEM! DO NOT FLOOW THEM, RIDE ALONG SIDE THEM OR CUT THEN OFF! Vehicles like this are designed to run over whatever is in their way and will drive over your car or truck like its a speed bump and it will kill you. Same with large commercial vehicles. They aren't designed to run over anything but because of their large size, they have no problem running over and flattening a car or truck. They can't stop as fast as your little car either. It's sad this needs to be said over and over and over. Anyone who cuts off or messes with a big truck on the road deserves to be flattened.

“Deserves to be flattened” is a little extreme don’t ya think? I agree, the big vehicles on the road need to be respected for what they are and the clueless people need to be educated about them. The jackasses that drive erratically need a couple nights in jail to think about what they are doing.

Keep your eyes open for a HEMTT the 984 A1 wrecker... those typically came with 4 winches, not including the winch on the palfinger boom. The front and rear winches are much larger and more powerful. The 984 A1 is a wrecker unit... Please note, the luxury of speed like what you have in this stake pocket unit you guys have now, will be considerably less, LOL.... like 0 to 60 in 4 hours, due to the additional weight strapped on the rig. The palfinger boom on the 984 A1 is one size larger typically as well, likewise the winch has a larger capacity. Lastly, due to the additional weight, these 984's are exceptionally hard to get stuck and they will plow 4 foot high worth of mud in front of itself to get out, but, if you do get it stuck. Best hope you have something heavy enough to hook onto that the onboard winches won't just pull into the pit with you.. lol.. Don't ask me how I know that... That measure of stuckness, makes for a really long day.. Although the Army frowns upon using the 984 to unstuck a tracked vehicle, in allota cases, the 984 has done that uncountable times in Trash-Can-O-Stan.. Second lastly, invest into the service manual, for proper scheduled maintenance program, (not to insult you guys's intelligence) but rather, you can get a massive life span out of the drive line parts, if you just keep them lubed or clear of dirt and water intrusion. Believe me, you do not want to play the game of hunting for front steering axle u-joints or a replacement knuckle / spindle.. Not only are they getting to become in rare supply, they are costly.. The newer OSHKOSH drive line and suspension is independent suspension and out side of the wheels, those parts to not cross over to the solid axle versions. Take care of the unit, and the unit will ALWAYS take care of you.

A4? With the CAT? No sir, you needed to run the E1 converted to A1 series. Nothing easier to work on if needed and would out pull any other variant. Ran a A1 for 12 years in the service, 3 years of those were in Iraq. Would pull a HET with trailer and load down the road at highway speeds. Nothing beats that 8V92TA man, all they have to do is remove the throttle delay and adjust the jakes a little tighter and it'll perform smoother but because the injector racks are air over mechanically controlled they have to make sure they don't flatline the racks and cause the engine to run away.

What does that 8-92have for injectors in it? You have options to put larger injectors in it if it doesn’t have already. A lot of old-school truckers used to cap the return line coming out of the head to increase the fuel pressure. You can also increase the fuel pressure of the lift pump. Being a military engine I bet you it was built to be fuel-efficient. Read up on the fuel squeezer package that the two-stroke Detroit’s had offered, it might be equipped with that now possibly
