I have one of the under dogs for canon point and shoots. Kinda of a hidden gem, but definitely an underrated camera. It’s the canon sure shot ace. It’s a 35mm F3.5. Also has a eye-level viewfinder and a waist level finder 😉And it also has an infrared remote control. I find it very unique 😁

Just got my Olympus AZ230 point and shoot camera from a Marketplace. I haven't tried to use it yet, but I am super excited.

The Canon sure shot supreme is an underrated gem. I found one at a thrift store for $2 a few months ago and it's been my main p&s ever since.

My most favorite is the Rollei 35. Very solidly built. Probably 2nd to the Minox as the smallest 35mm cam in the world. Its Zeiss Tessar lens is SHARP! My 2nd favorite is the Contax T also a rangefinder just like your Oly XA. In fact, their operation looks similar. But the Contax T has the same Carl Zeiss Sonnar lens as its more famous T2 sibling. Unfortunately, the 1st generation T is not cheap anymore. The Contax T is actually slightly smaller than your Oly XA without the flash module. Its body was designed by Porsche and made with titanium.

I have that Pentax p&s, also called the Espio 738. So many features you didn’t touch on like all the different shooting modes including bulb. A great underrated camera that I keep coming back to.

I really love your endorsement of the little Olympus XA. I got my XA in 1981. It was awful expensive at the time but I still have it and am still using it and it is still taking great photo's. I remember in one of your previous videos you spoke about Zone Focusing with smaller cameras. It would be great, if in a future video, you might give even a few minutes to your experience of Zone Focusing with the Olympus XA and what you found to be the best settings. Your Videos are very insightful and I have learned a lot from them. Very well done.

The XA uses rangefinder focusing but a later model (i think XA2?) uses zone focusing while other XA series have fixed focusing. The one in the video is the XA.

@@danielloh3151 Many thanks for your reply Daniel. If I remember Kingjvpes was originally not very impressed with the XA as he thought the focusing process was too fiddley but subsequently discovered that Zone Focusing could be used with the camera, which meant that every shot did not have to be focused precisely using the focusing lever. I have used this with my own XA, setting the focusing Lever to 3 (I think it is 8 on US models) and the aperture at F8 or above. In this way the camera can be used like a point, with the results always in focus. Was just wondering what Kingjvpes experience of this was.

I've owned three autofocus point and shoots, an Olympus AF-10 Mini, Nikon AF3, and a Samsung Slim Zoom. Recommend all of them, especially the first two. Both extremely underrated-the Olympus is so sharp and responsive, accurate, fast, tiny, and so easy to use. The nikon has the same lens as the original L35AF, but for some reason the AF3/AD3 is completely overlooked. It's incredible! only thing to dislike is the loud film wind and the uncomfortable flash-off button placement. such great and overlooked cameras. I gifted the Samsung to my girlfriend, but it was definitely fun to run a test roll through. not the best quality images, but perfect for casual photos of friends and such just like all of these point and shoots from the 90's.

I bought the XA in mint condition some ten years ago with the flash for about 60 bucks in Germany. Fantastic piece of gear.

My 3 favs are 1. Canon Sure Shot Zoom-S 2. Ricoh Q-80Z 3. Olympus Infinity Jr. scored all of them off of Facebook marketplace for a $5.00 for the first 2 & $40.00 for the Olympus.

Great video. I found and purchased a canon auto boy at a thrift store for $15.00 early this year not knowing if it would work I took a chance. I found a battery at Bestbuy and have since put 20 rolls of film thru the camera already. It takes me back to the nineties when I had an Olympus stylus epic and film was less then $5.00. I worked at a Sav-on drugs aka “Cvs” and would develop my own rolls in the 1hr photo lab. Thanx for the trip down memory lane. 👊🏻

@@lait3274 Well, a day of looking and I picked up a Kodak Star 275, a Nikon Nice Touch Zoom, and a Minolta XD5 with a 45mm f/2 for a grand total of $50. I'm sure I could find better point and shoots, but hey. It's a start!

I’m excited about the Pentax IQZoom 160 I just picked up for $20, I already like it better than the cannon sureshot overall. The loud clunky shutter sucked but the view finder on the sureshot is really nice and bright.

I don't know if you've seen the camera around, but I have the minolta explorer freedom zoom. The build and quality they gave to that camera is amazing. I shot with it at the state fair and it came out amazing. I haven't seen it around anywhere. I found it at an antique mall for $20.

I had the Olympus XA during the 1980s and it was a fantastic little camera but the only thing I didn’t like is the shutter button was so sensitive, especially at the higher shutter speeds that it was too easy to take a picture before I was ready.

i currently have a vivtar PS:10. it was super cheap, i found it online for about £10 and thought i'd take a chance on it. i really wanted a super cheap point and shoot that was light and just to shoot with for fun more than anything else but i dunno if it even works yet, I'm nearing the end of a roll so when i develop it, i guess we'll see then lol

Is 2CR5 really that expensive over there? I work in a camera store in Europe (Finland) and we have it for 5 EUR (= around 6 USD) and it's available in most general stores for around 8 EUR. There was a time around the digital camera boom when the "photo batteries" for film cameras were hard to find but they came back. I guess Europeans refused to stop using their point&shoots.

shooting film helps you to be slowing down and especially,it helps you master shutter speed, aperture and metering which is only visualized on mechanical full manual film cameras.Don't waste money on buying that crappy PNS.
