  • Backpacking The Wonderland Trail | Mount Rainier 2021 | Nickel Creek to Indian Bar - Day 8 // With the cold and wet weather, none of us were in a hurry to leave the Nickel Creek tentsite in the morning. Today would be less than 7 miles to our next tentsite, Indian Bar. We were prepared for the rain, but instead got a lot of fog, which made for moody meadows in this section of trail. Even with the fog, we knew we were about to enter a very special place along the Wonderland Trail.
    Total Mileage: 6.7 miles
    Total Ascent: 3,037.7 feet
    Total Descent: 1,318.2 feet

    There's really nothing more awesome than rounding a corner into a meadow with lots of wildflowers. Thanks for the video. It's 100 degrees where I am at today. Nice to see moisture. Good stuff.

      I completely agree. I loved the moody meadows in this section. Also, isn't this how scary movies start? Hahahaha!

    Just found your channel and oh boy, am I loving it.
    I really appreciate the information you’ve given, specifically the tips on food and planning. I have very limited hiking experience, other than watching and reading about others doing it, and I hope to make the Wonderland my first thru hike. It sounds pretty arduous if you don’t prepare and your channel certainly has given me a lot more confidence in tackling it in the next year or two.
    Thanks for the great work!

    Nothing was quite like watching the clouds lift out of Indian Bar that night! I literally just set that as my background on my work computer. I can’t believe I thought Raquel said “I’m good now that I’m done with the heavy lifting” as I passed her at the bear pole. When in reality she said “I’m good now that the clouds have lifted.”

    • @TheHungryHiker
      @TheHungryHiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wasn’t that awesome to watch? The Wonderland Retirement Community was already in their tents for the night while Raquel and I watched the fog lift. We got so excited once we could finally see the ridge line above our tentsite. It was so cool and happened right as the sun went down. 😊

      Yup! They were both in their tent well before sunset every single night. Hahahaha!
