This is definitely on brand for Bowser as a character I think. He’s turned into a kind of cartoony goofball villain rather than someone like Ganondorf who is a serious villain I guess if that makes sense.
@@jakec3172 yeah, it’d feel weird if a villain similar to ridley or ganondorf was in a game like Mario. Though Kirby had done weirder.
@@asrieldreemurrthe1st for sure. Mario is definitely much more light hearted than Metroid and Zelda. I think Metroid is definitely the most serious big franchise they have. Zelda is a close second.
Kind of makes me wonder how this studio is going to do with the Zelda movie. I think a lot of people really fell in love with those dark/emotional undertones of Zelda esp back in the n64 days. Even wind waker, the most cartoony one of all had a pretty dark story to it.
I hope they do something more serious with the movie. I loved the Mario movie but don’t think the lightheartedness would really fit Zelda well.

@@Koopalingfan because the main goal of Bowser is to rule the world and he puts nothing and no-one above it. So he doesn't love Peach , normally he has to marry her only for the kingdom. And he needed as they say to destroy it just like the games, he puts peach to a cage so that proves he doesn't love her. So they not portrayed him good unfortunately.

The thing I love about Bowser in this movie is that we kind of get a glimpse that he’s just insane. Like, when the Princess rejects him, he goes STRAIGHT to hurting Toad. When she ruins the wedding, he literally doesnt waste a aecond going to kill him and the kingdom. Even if he got what he wanted, he’d STILL be terrible

That’s the thing about Bowser in the movie. I think that a big part of his evil is due to the fact that he is just crazy. You can see it in his eyes when he gets mad, he is literally just Insane. It changes from the calculated planning of Bowser from say Super Mario Galaxy
But I love this version of Bowser!

This instantly reminded me of Bowser's portrayal in the Paper Mario games. Writing an antagonist that feels ruthless and threatening while also being a comic relief isn't easy but they managed to do it perfectly with Bowser in this film!

For exalmpe, thanks for Super Mario Bros: the mission of Rescue Princes Peach (an anime movie from 1986) is why Luigi is taller than Mario, the first time we saw Bowser with his colors and obsessed with Peach, the first time Mario ever threw, Bowser grabbing him from the tail, and the first time we saw Peach being blonde.
Like Jim Carrey as Robotnik, you can just tell Jack Black was *born* to play Bowser.
