The name comes from a discussion between Eric Wood (Man Is The Bastard) and Matt Domino (Infest) in 1989 while the two were playing in the band Neanderthal. Originally, it was two words. Then the phrase was used in the MITB song "Hispanic Small Man Power" to refer to a few bands. Eric Wood allegedly HATES the term and wishes no one ever used it for any other band besides Neanderthal.
