one of the best records of NY hardcore ever..definately influenced us. (youth of today) and our sound.
This one and the Abused imo are my favs. And the YOT thanks Ray
Af of course
Them Krishna cookies you handed out at concerts were great, too, by the way. Just wanted to have said that. Saw you 33 years ago in Europe at the first concert I ever went to without my mommy and ran about with Xes on my hands for 2 weeks (while smoking and beer drinking but hey...). Thanks man.
Are you the real deal?
hey man when are we gonna go surf in costa rica again! remember playa grande!
No frills. No gimmicks. Just straight up hardcore as it should be. Love it!
Skateboarding music! Philly show-- Iron Cross, Necros, Void & Antidote! Unreal!
HELL YES!
Boy have things changed bro lol hahahaha....my step son is 17 and is a good skater and listens to Hip Hop/Trap music haha most young skaters under the age or 30 have hip hop as their thrashing music lol
@@seblo8462 I'm 22 my fanciest trick is boneless
@@seblo8462it's from 1983, not 2023..... you understand? Please start to think.....
Oof
One of the greatest New York Hardcore Punk records!
James Garcia yea agreed
Real Talk, how is this not in top 💯 best albums of all time!!!
Whats up people, was locked up on rikers island with nunz in 94 and had some good conversations about our music. Cool cat. Peace.
Thomas McCarty which building?
Come see me and Lou at a town near you!
I love punks. "Someone shared our music. Everyone else, suing people or having it pulled for copyright. Sick ass foo man.
Hardcore Punk is the Antidote for all..
You can hear how much this band and Cro Mags influenced YOT and "the straightedge sound" of NYHC. I used to hear this on WFMU on Pat Duncan's show in '88-'89. I can't relate to modern hardcore. I just got old (50) but I still listen to all my old stuff!
Chris Francz, I just turned 49 and lately I've had Minor threat, Jerry's Kids, SSD, Cancerous Growth, Offenders, Germs, and other older stuff on the stereo. Saw my current-favorite band (Turnstile) a few weeks ago and couldn't resist flying off the stage a bunch of times and knocking youngsters around in the pit. You're only as old as you believe & feel you are!
Chris Francz have a listen to negative approach from Detroit.
+ElevatedThoughts oh, heck yeah! I first heard NA back in the mid-80's!
Chris Francz it's so hard to find something that resonates with me these days, I've always just looked to older music in any genre for relevance in topics and just sound in general!
Chris Francz actually "OFF!" Is fairly new and pretty damn good with Keith Morris on vocals.
If you haven't heard them suss them out!
Fuck I miss this shit even though I was born in the last 90s. This style of NYHxC was the moshable jam I needed in my life.
Poor fella
best EP ever made
All these Old Northeastern HC Bands (mostly thinking NY and Boston but Jersey as well) really have this strong element of Metal to them and I like what they did with it.
Xlnt engineering by Jerry Williams, who encouraged and uplifted many bands in NYHC. Miss you, Papa Jerry...
Thank god I'm nearly 50 I lived to see the golden age of Metal, Hardcore and House and I'm still here, what's next ?
Ynse Schaap its over theres nothing that will top that era 80-87
That s straight old school until the end,
Antidote nyhc is the best raw bend!
Кто от "аукционы контейнеров"? О вкусах не спорят, как говориться...
Искал именно этот комент
Интересно же за что 1400$ )
тоже интересно из аукциона
приятно что русскоязычные ценят такой звук )
Love this to the core
By far the best punk:hardcore representation of that era!
i love u antidote!
Mucho ruido brutal
The Dutch band is from 1996. New York Antidote was formed in 1981.
This shit is still blowing me away after all this years.
Great N.Y.Hardcore.
one of the God fathers of lower east side hardcore!
far better than agnostic front...at least in 1983...
I couldn't find this album from the time it came out in 83until I quit looking for it. Tom (RIP) from Poison Idea played it on a local radio station and I recorded it onto a cassette with my boom box.
this american hardcore from the 80s is something wont happen never again :(
youre right. all the bands that even try to recreate this use the new clean shitty distortion and recording techniques to beef up their crap.
testostronaut thank u
Normally i agree. But I'm rather impressed by alot of the stuff coming out of the UK at the moment. They borrow the best examples of Boston hardcore bands mostly - SSD , Slapshot, Negative FX etc. Really good raw stripped down HC. Bands like Violent Reaction, The Flex, Arms Race , Tied Down , Voorhees , Closure etc. Great stuff.
th-cam.com/video/eYdeQzHf0a8/w-d-xo.html DIG IT! CHILE SALUTES YOU
@theultimatexperience Man i want to do it too
Another gem! Wonderful album! Killing hardcore band!
Let's jump right back to our survey of first wave New York City hardcore.
It's easy for me to get excited about Antidote's debut e.p. Thou Shalt Not Kill (1983) I mean, I got two ears, bro. For sure this is one of the pinnacles in hardcore.. It doesn't get much more intense than this. On a par with Negative Approach in that respect. Ever get the feeling the singer Louie really means it? With a shouting, confrontational stance, Thou Shalt Not Kill grabs you by the throat, pins you up against the wall and forces you to listen. Yup, what we have here, my good man, is aggressive concern delivered with utmost authority and excellence.
Louis (who used to be the doorman at Tier 3) on vocals, Nunzio on guitar, Brian on bass and Bliss (A.K.A, Arthur "Googy" McGuckin, fresh from The Misfits Walk Among Us LP) on drums.
Although this record has been repressed a few times, the original is still rare and in January 2016 one sold for $564. There's a lesson to be learned here for all you punks. If the opportunity comes up to buy something and you can afford it, grab it. It might not be there tomorrow and in a few years it could be out of print and very expensive.
Along with the Bad Brains New York recordings and the Urban Waste e.p., Thou Shalt Not Kill is one of my three favorite New York hardcore records.
yeah mate!!!
theyre still great live, even had a few new songs, mad respect for Louis
willieluncheonette Abused loud and clear
Perhaps, we should just relocate 🤣🤣🤣
I had no idea this was rare. I probably have a repressing though.
I refuse to believe there's no more genuine, original hardcore bands like this out there today. There has to be at least one group keeping the fire alive.
Thats bullshit
Blood Pressure, Fury, Skemata, Coke Bust, mad bands man. check those few out especially coke bust.
Coke Bust yea ! Protestor, Long Knife, D-FY ...
IT WAS FUCKING AMAZING!! I honestly feel bad for anyone who was not there. MDC was also there.
thanks for posting this
I saw someone at the Scorpions concert at the UBS Nassau in 2022 with an Antidote Shirt!!
I said, Yo what’s up brother 😎!!
Incredible
FLAWLESS
Something must be done is ferociously danceable!
Best NYC hardcore record, hands down.
Graveyard Sale I think The Abused-Loud And Clear is the best. But this is a close second.
Pre-85/86? Yeah I'd second that it's the best NYHC record for sure, even better than the always heralded United Blood and or VIP. A matter of opinion of course, though Urban Waste gets my vote as runner up
a kick to a place where the sun never shines
When. Antidote played in Philly the just tore it up!!
This is THE REAL ANTIDOTE! This is pure NYC HARDCORE PUNK! Waaaaaaay before any Dutch boys thought of calling themselves Antidote.
Not true. The first Dutch Antidote from Hoorn was around earlier.
They're both worthy of the Antidote name! both bands are sick!
+hulud99
No, they weren't.
there are from Netherlands
James Garcia theres also antidote from Holland early 80s only few songs on dijk doorbraak lp. the otter dutch antidote is Just crap
I wish we had control over things like the ads but alas, we didn't load this one on here. My thanks to whomever did...!
OH MY GOD (amazing)
Anarchy
very nice
Whoa!! A pinnacle in New York City hardcore. It doesn't get much better than this. Ever get the feeling the singer really means it? With a shouting, in your face attack, this e.p. grabs you by the throat, pins you up against the wall, and forces you to listen with authority seldom equaled in this city. Alongside Antidote were the Bad Brains, Kraut, Heart Attack, Urban Waste, Reagan Youth, Cause For Alarm, The Mob, The Abused, and The Nihilistics. YO PUNK did New York rule in those days, or what?
Hare Krishna!
Excelente na medida certa
fuck yeah
Real Deal !
awesome
one of the best
This album has more energy than a lot of other bands back then. It makes you wonder how a group of four or five groups behave
thanks for posting this havent heard this in years
So good
Something must be done
Something must be done!!!! so we can live to see tomorrow!!!!
Fuck yeah seein them at their first ever west coast show saturday 11/10/2012
7:33
My alarm in the morning
I LOVE BOTH BANDS
Super intense.
Legends
First saw them @Cadillac Club opening for Kraut .Kraut was having a record release party ..invite only. Holy shit ..They took hardcore to another level. I had connections to get them booked in Jersey. They played a few times at Patrix in New Brunswick. Nunzio gave me a huge stack of 45s. I handed them out to friends in other bands. Who knew they'd be worth big bucks years later.
Pure HC!
I wished Reagan youth sounded like this......these guys had a pummeling anger that no other bands had at the time..... the vocal tone the heaviness.... very unique
I wish they had more releases
Why compare. ? Totally different
Preference I guess. Reagan youth had a heavier sound live
GET READY FOR NEW ANTIDOTE
NYHC HELL YEAH
I am thou, thou art I
Does anybody remember the CBGB's hardcore matinee with Virus and Antidote? A masterpiece of booking. I used to have the flyer.
Brutal!, una puta pasada de los mejores eps de hardcore de los 80
Saw these guys in Philly about a century ago. Still sounds freaking great to me.
There have actually been two Dutch bands called Antidote + a Dutch/English project (members of The Ex and Chumbawamba). But this is indeed the most wel-known band of that name from NYC.
The Ex are great.
Muy bueno, hardcore criminal y crudo, increíble su estilo para ser del 83, muy intenso
seeing them in 2 weeks at 924 gilman
Not w/ Louie ya didn’t.
I always loved that guitar lead on got me on a line kicks serious culo
Classic Rock
My FUCKING homeboy.....NO REMORSE.NYHC 1985..RIP..,MY NIGGA

Arthur Googy could have played on Misfits Earh AD.
yesssssssss🧟♂️
gat dang! holy cra polea
All the antidotes should play a gig together. That would be awesome.
Who are the 15 dodo’s that voted this down?
Bad ass! And definitely the "real" Antidote. Suck it Holland!
David Dalby Best band from Holland is Lärm hands down
1400$ музло хорошее .9 минут 1400$ за минуту 140 $ самая дорогая музыка что я слушал
@CountTheOdds,Yes I formed it Nov.1981
? i remember this album cover, but i do not recall any of these songs...and i was a die hard member of the hardcore scene (saw bad brains over a dozen times in the 80s). what am i missing here?
+roastbeefdinner Nothing! Not if you already saw the Bad Brains!!
Also used for Modern Warfare EP, if that helps?
From what I know Youth Korps had the first modern hardcore release in 1982.
Middle Class "out of vogue" 7" 1979. A lot of people call that the first modern HC record. I thought the Black Flag "Nervous Breakdown" 7" preceded it but I don't have the release that on that one.
i love god
Yes this is the band from America but there is also one from English as well.
Isn't that picture the same one that was used from a Cattle Decapitation demo? 10 Torments of the Damned?
WAKE UP TO THE REAL DEAL PLEASE WAKE UP TO THE REAL DEAL!
why didn't they use this logo? it looks so much better than the scratchy one with the syringe thing
There have actually been more than two, I know two from Holland.
ain't much better than this
Matt Warnke led me here
i'm surprised that these vegan krishna rockers are so amazing.
