Thank you so very much I bought zips of all sizes that were on sale at a market a while back and I wasn't sure if they are adjustable. But they are thank you for showing me how, sending you tons of love and good vibes 😘💕😘💕
Thank you for this video! Super helpful. In your opinion, if you were to buy a pack of 100 invisible zips, which do you think is the most overall convenient length? 9", 12", or 16"? (sorry those are in inches).
After cutting off the extra length, can the teeth (from zigzag stitches to cut end) be removed? I find that they bunch up when making small coin purses.
That is very tricky. As you’d need to re-sew the other side too. I’m not sure why you would shorten a zip already on a garment? Maybe you could give me an example? X
There’s really zero reason to ever be rude to someone on the internet who is offering you their knowledge of a skill they’ve honed completely for free.
Sadly you can't shorten open ended zippers, as you need the end bit to make it work. If the top of the open ended zip is hidden, you can just remove the metal teeth with pliers and neaten it from that end.
Unfortunately for open end zips, this would be tricky. You can use the zig zag method on both ends, but it wouldn't be very strong, you might have to replace the zip! x
Thank you!! You saved my project today! And saved me money 💰 I had no idea that I could shorten a zipper myself.
This is why I do these videos! So glad it helped. x
wow!! was a bit nervous to try it cuz it seemed hard, but to my pleasant surprise it came out perfect!! thank u so much 💖💖💖🥺 Great video
Yey! So glad! x
This gives me hope 😅 I’m in the same boat. Giving it a try after this video.

I'd always go longer as you can shorten but you can't lengthen haha. Glad you found the video helpful. Happy sewing! X

Nice
Should we use the zipper foot to sew the zip? Thank you so much for this tutorial
Only when installing the zip into your project, just use your normal foot for this method. x
Yes 'cos if you was to use the zipper foot for securing.... you'll have a broken needle hun.
I don't have a sewing machine, how can I do it with sewing needles? Thanks.
You can use a needle and thread and just sew loads of stitches in one place over the teeth instead of the zig zag. x
Always wondered how to stop the zip.
What a coincidence. I am currently trying to shorten a zip that is exactly the same colour and type of zip in this video 😂🤯
Yay! The chances! 🤣
After cutting off the extra length, can the teeth (from zigzag stitches to cut end) be removed? I find that they bunch up when making small coin purses.
Yes, You will need some pliers to cut them and pull them out. It's fiddly but may help with the bulk. x
So much of the video was spent on her telling us that she is going to show us 'this really quick and useful method's.
Well SHE apologises. You can skip ahead if you wish?
My zip is short how I attach two zips together?
I'm afraid you can't lengthen a zip, you'll have to buy a new one. x
thanks!!!!! very helpfull
You're very welcome! x
Thank you sooooo much!
You're so welcome! x
I usually cut the zipper to the desired length then use a lighter to burn the teeth where it ends then press it with a pair of scissors....
If it's plastic yes, this way is a little safer haha. x
Would this work for shortening a heavy duty jeans zipper?
Yes although you can buy metal zip ends to squeeze around the teeth. x
Thank you! This was perfect!
You're so welcome! Thank you x
Thank you
You're welcome x
Thank you, very helpful tutorial. 🙏 🌺
You’re very welcome 😊x
Want to try it just not sure which sewing machine I must use🙃
You have more than one? You can use any sewing machine. x
How do you cut through the plastic part of the zipper?
Sharp scissors, just don't use your nice fabric scissors. 😊
@@Jessalli thank you!
But how do u shorten a zip that's already on a garment?!
That is very tricky. As you’d need to re-sew the other side too. I’m not sure why you would shorten a zip already on a garment? Maybe you could give me an example? X
What happens if you don’t have a sewing machine?
You can do a wrap around method with a needle and thread. Just make sure it's well knotted. x
It is just me or did she tell us she was going to show us a really quick way to shorten a zip four times before she actually started showing us….
You can skip it...
GOSH!!! Really... be nice or just don't watch! 🙄
There’s really zero reason to ever be rude to someone on the internet who is offering you their knowledge of a skill they’ve honed completely for free.
It's not just you no matter what others are saying
The zipper you shown was for a sweater. Please show for a coat that has to open all the way.
Sadly you can't shorten open ended zippers, as you need the end bit to make it work. If the top of the open ended zip is hidden, you can just remove the metal teeth with pliers and neaten it from that end.
2:16 I can do this with a couple of staples and super glue... right?
Eeeekkk if you want to?!? Haha.
If you want that grunge punkified look😮
Do you have to use a zigzag stitch?
It would be better and easier, or you can do a long (5mm) straight stitch back and forth over the teeth?
@@Jessalli Ok thank you
How do you turn the feed tracks off if I can't shorten the length?
Either theres a switch at the back or front of your machine, at the base. Or you may have a darning plate in your accessories to cover them up.
Thnku
You’re welcome! 🧡
Do you know how to shorten a bodycon dress with a zipper all the way down?
Unfortunately for open end zips, this would be tricky. You can use the zig zag method on both ends, but it wouldn't be very strong, you might have to replace the zip! x
and if u dont have a sewing machine?
Use a needle and thread to stitch and wrap it round loads. x
How do I chop metal?
Don't cut them with scissors, use pliers/wire cutters to pull them off. x
Hope you have a new tape measure by now. If not I can send you many. I am tape measure wealthy.
This is a joke and I hope it is taken that way.
Are you married ??
Thank you!!!
My pleasure! x
