Nice video. Another way to trim the fairing to clear the bolts and nuts is to set the fairing in place without the bolt and drill a pilot hole through both sides using the bolt hole as a guide. Remove the fairing and drill the holes out to a larger size sufficient to clear the nut, bolt head, and washer. Then decide if you want to trim the fairing back more or not. This way you get nice even holes or cutouts depending upon where you trim the fairing.

Some details that will add to the finished look on the Super Duty.

Mark, those tangled cords at 3:50 :-( There is even a knot in the once section
I always thought you have OCD to keep things neat and tidy

That dang microphone cord is a thorn in my side! It's 25 feet long and just gets tangled on everything. I used to use a microphone that mounted on top of the camera, but it picked up a bit of echo from the hangar and people complained about that. So I got this lapel mic that works better, but it's a PITA. They do make cordless mic's but then I'd have to sync the audio with every clip and that is a major hassle for editing. So...I deal with this stupid cord all day LOL.

I'm really sorry about the brakes on your Pitts, but I think it's great that you're having a Pitts mechanic check it out.
The execution of the strut fairings and your super duty are really great.
Do you know if there are such fairings for the 701 or if you can use them for the ch 750 STOL?.
Supposedly the Streamline Struts for the 701 would have been carried over from the 750.

Just thought of another question - in your experience with the Cruzer fairings, do the sheet metal screws ever tend to loosen? Do you use Loctite when you insert them?

Not a single one has ever loosened. Think of this way-your entire airplane is built with bolts and nuts with nylon in them. The bolts don't come loose. The plastic fairing acts as the nylon in a nut.

I am starting my fairings, did you end up splitting the fairing for the rear jury struts?

      @KitplaneEnthusiast  ปีที่แล้ว

No. Just drill a hole and slip it not he jury strut before you attach it.

Are the fairings vacuum formed plastic….in the 80s when the zeniths were in Canada I worked for a guy building fibreglass parts like wheel pants and wing tips for the 250s

I did not see where you slit the jury strut fairing. Did you not split it and just unbolted the strut, slipped the fairing on and down out of the way, and then bolted the strut back?

The jury strut fairings don't need split. Like you said I just pulled the top bolt, slid the fairing over the steel tube, put the bolt back in and then slid the fairing up. They are the easiest ones to install!

Mark... Any "handsaw" you start next to the line with your thumb resting on the side of the blade, scoring the surface until it seats itself in its trench.
    🪚🤦

Mark, If you wanted to install these Cuffs without Splitting them, you Could have slid them onto the struts Before attaching them to the wings !

That will not work. They fairings have to be moved down to put the main bolt in. You can’t slide it down with the other bolts in the strut.

where did you find the fairings? I don't see them on the Zenith site.

I got mine directly from North American Aerospace Holdings. They are the company that actually makes the fairings. I believe currently Zenith only has the Cruzer ones listed but give them a call as I think they have the SD ones ready to ship.

The plastic will not deform enough to allow you to slide over the 3 Bolts. I understand.
