Yes the first deer I shot as an example did die, most likely because I shot it with the 7mm. If I were to make a bad shot like that with a smaller caliber, it most likely would have shook it off. That wasn’t the point of this video though, it was to show people the easiest ways for TRACKING, not hunting pressure. Thank you.
The biggest issue for me is that I don’t know when to stop running/walking and start crouching. I also end up spooking the animal and I end up tracking it for like 40 minutes running around in circles until I give up. The game gives little to no help with this either. Like if I don’t walk, then I end up crouching and moving at 10cm/hour. If I walk at a reasonable pace, I end up spooking the animal before I’ve even spotted it. Super frustrating. It’s so difficult to see the animal in the foliage as well 😟
Wear headsets , crank up volume to the max - crouch as soon as you hear some footsteps or brushing sounds chances are animal is very close. Rain / winds brushing on tree sounds you can make a little bit of noise and get away with it. Not sure if its helpful but all the best.
i feel you on this. Ive learned to just explore and take in the game how beautiful it looks n stuff. which is weird for me cuz i usually play hack n slash games , or games like warzone, GTA, Fifa, nba and games like that but this one has been my go to game lately. i just love how relaxing it is. ill throw on some headphones and just chillout. but yes it does get frustrating at times. specially when you keep shooting and hitting an animal and none of them go down. im only 2 weeks in so well see how far this goes lol
If you have spotted it the basic rule of thumb is you can get to 150 running 100 walking 75 crouched and from there you gotta crawl. And too be honest I have no clue how to tell just how close you are if you haven't seen it yet.
I’m still getting the hang of it, but this is what works for me, since I don’t like rotating between need zones and farming kills, just feels like gaming the AI to me, I prefer roaming and stalking. I usually run to what looks like an area nearby id like to hunt, then start walking it, checking my surroundings with binoculars. Eventually I will hear a mating or warning call, and if it’s close by, I’ll crouch, if it’s far I’ll walk a bit then crouch, and investigate the area for tracks/droppings to see how long ago they were there and where they went. From that point I’m stalking it crouching, and it usually doesn’t take long to find it. If it’s taking too long I’ll give up and move on. Since you’ve been moving quietly while tracking, there’s a good chance you’ll hear other animals too. This tends to work well for me, I get enough action to satisfy me. I will say, these are tips for beginners like me. You won’t find diamond animals like this, because they rarely call and are a lot more skittish. You probably have to farm need zones for that. As for always getting a “very low” blood trail and never dropping the animal quickly, I had this problem too and quit for years before giving it another go. The key was the polymer tip ammo for better penetration, or a larger caliber. Every animal has a class rating that you can see when tracking it, and every ammo type has an acceptable class. For soft point ammunition, assume the ammo is more underpowered than it says. The starter rifle and ammo says it should be able to drop deer but you need a really good shot for that, especially for larger species of deer. I recommend going for a few smaller animals until you can buy the 270, then you can get some larger animals and you will quickly unlock the polymer tips. At that point, as long as you’re getting good shots and using the proper ammo, animals will drop a lot quicker and sometimes even immediately. It’s tough at first since they give you an underpowered rifle and don’t do a good job teaching you the mechanics of the game. But after a couple hours you’ll start getting the hang of it. Avoid sprinting and using the atv unless you’re unlocking waypoints or placing tents. Lakes at sunrise and sunset tend to have a good amount of activity around them if you’re really itching for some action. Hope this helps someone
This is definitely the most frustrating part of the game for me. Tracking an animal for what feels like 10 miles and never finding them. This guide was awesome, extremely helpful.
Im an absolute noob with 6 hours in, ive only had 3 kills but maaan im bad at tracking, i can track a black bear for an hour then get distracted by a moose and try to kill it only to lose it too after i shoot it and cant find it. It seems that after I follow the tracks they just stop appearing its so confusing. Still, great video, maybe it wouldve been more helpful if you had reset your skills and shown us an example of tracking for noobs!
I made a comment earlier about the bloodhounds, but I'll say it again here. If ever anyone is finding tracking "too easy", there is the option of turning off the particle effects and the track highlighting. This makes tracking quite challenging. With the doggo DLC, your bloodhound will track your target's blood trail quite well. With the track highlighting off, he'll still track. This amps up the realism factor if that's your thing.
As a level 60 with over 500 hours in game I still found this helpful lol but great job if somebody asks me how to track I’m going to send them to this video
He left out tons of useful information as well. I think the video would have been better served if he would have started a new account and was like a noob. You can totally have a low bleed rate and still take down the animal. The best way for me to tell if an animal has gone down is to keep track of the hunting pressure. If you see a new hunting pressure then you have a kill. In his video the second time he went to the map it looked as if he actually killed that deer but I wasn’t paying that close attention. Another useful bit he left out was at the center of your hinting pressure is where you took your shot. So if you can’t find that first bleed mark that will help you find it. Tracking can be very straight forward but many times it’s not. So critters like to go right back to the ver their tracks and really confuse the hell out of you when tracking. Yes one set is on way and the other is the other but time to time critters stop and spin around and really throw you for a loop. If you lose your track make a large box search pattern around where you last track it and you can normally pick the trail back up. I have had animals that were 0-25% left and the trail went stone cold. Spent an hour searching and could not find it or sign of it.
How do you know when to stop running/walking/crouch walking, and also relating to their droppings ? I often sprint for probably too long following a wounded animal and it spooks almost endlessly trying to flee from me.
I'm new to the game and need to harvest 2 male blacktales, followed a trail for a bout half an hour earlier, caught up with him, lined up a shot only to realize i never had no bullets and it ran off loool
In this case, it is for a guide. However there are videos of other players that used the .22 on a Waterbuffalo to see how many shots it would take to "kill it". Even laughing the entire time. In that case, they are really twisted. The game is very realistic looking.

I found that if I shoot a deer or an elk and it runs off, that kind of like real hunting not to track it immediately. I wait for about 1 minute real time before I begin tracking. Make sure the sound bar doesn't show red ( avoid branches , dry leaves bushes ) , stay close to some trees so that you can quickly crouch to cover and the animal can't see you. Crouch down when you get close. If animal gives out warning calls, but if you're sure it couldn't have seen you much , crouch down take cover and use animal calls. Make sure you walk against the wind

@@ghost381 bro helped me so much with just this one comment I've been searching through tons of videos and they never really say too much about the sound bars
@@bubba271 All the best, enjoy 😊
Poor pixelated animal limping around because somebody made a bad shot😂
Why is risky so satisfying to listen to?
Side note: what gun did he use in the video?
Ppl trip for nothing. I love animals so much but hunting in game is way different from irl. Sadly some cant differ. I just got my 7mil and not sure what scope is best. Been using the stock scope from the beginner rifle.
Ill be tracking a deer and then boom no more tracks nothing its just gone no trace and it constantly happens i could follow the damn thing for ever and then its just gone
OMG, Im the worst tracker!! I have left Carcass all over the map. I wish if you landed a kill that the location would pop up on the PDA.
That would make the game a little too easy since tracking is an essential part of the game.
@@megamathew7579 True, but as I said and completely admit it . IM THE WORST TRACKER !! LOL Its all good, I've gotten much better since
@@anzalone626 It would definitely be a useful feature and I'm glad to hear you've gotten better!
Is there no game where tracking animals is realistic? You know, looking for tracks, scat etc.
I been tracking this deer for and hour and I been going in circles and haven’t found it
Bro I’m on the tutorial and it’s not letting me examine tracks it just sits there
if anyone ask "why do you shoot animals?", then ask them do you eat meat?
Lmao 😂 “people are saying how dare you shoot that animal”
I mean i do feel bad for the animals in the game because I shoot one most likely to a non vital organ or just flesh and they end up running off and after like 15mins i give up and leave them suffering, it's cruel I know
Do you know why blood sometimes doesn’t show up
Could be a zombie? Or maybe it used a health potion.
in that game... probably a bug !!
My track dosent work
i lost a albino female fallow deer and never seen her again😢
omg bruh this game is lowkey hard for noobs lol. you really have to put in time to get good. i just shot a moose in the head then took off running at mach 7 and i couldn’t find it again.
maybe i’ll stick to hunting rabbits
I will color Mines what ever I want. Mines I'd bluE
"Guide for Tracking" starts with the animals already tracked...
A beginner is a Newb. A player that is not new, and still does not know their ass from a hole in the ground is a Noob.
Exactly
How do you track a animal actually I spend legit hours tracking when do you crouch walk when do you run if you hit a bad shot how do you find the animal what speed do I go at
If you think you are close to an animal then crouch walk, but if you know you are far from it then just walk
@@RiskyYT so don’t run at all, and I try that all the time I always try to kill a bear and it is always super far ahead of me I’ll find a sample it will drop it will say very recent then I’ll crouch walk and it will constantly jog so I never catch up to the beat
@@RiskyYT and then the samples I find after awhile will turn to old, and usually I’m tracking it for more then 40 minutes
@@andrewbadhwa1599 if you gotta track an animal for more then 40 mins then you need to work on your shot placement. I have a guide for that on my channel that should help you out :)
@@RiskyYT shot placement isn’t the problem I’ve probably small hit like 5 animals and critically hit 1 I almost never find animals
tbf even just finding out you could change the track colours is fucking useful lol
How do you get the most money in this game just shoot everything I love
people upset shouldn't play on my map... I got about 20 half dead animals wandering around and 30 dead birds I have yet to find.
What? Deer is good
footsteps are invisible and i can’t track my animal Someone help
