Great ideas Helen. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Helen! I just added the magnets, the double sided tape, and the Kreinik corder to my Amazon cart! I’m also going over to check out Cynthia and Lynette’s tips before sending my order. Great collaboration idea since we’ve all got extra time to stitch and craft right now!
Thanks Cindy! I've definitely got my money's worth out of all of those things!

This was a very helpful video. Thanks for sharing.
Great video, thank you!
Great video Helen. Thanks for the tips and supply list.
Anytime! ;)
Thanks Helen! Great video! Another tool I use a lot is a hem gauge to make sure I have the same amount of border on each side! I never thought about using a compass. I usually go looking for a bowl to use! LOL!
Thank you!!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Great ideas thank you
Thanks Helen! Lori at Once Upon a Stitch
Wonderful ideas, thanks for sharing!!
Great tips! Thanks so much.
Great how to video.
Thanks for the tip about the corners. I am currently working on finishing several small pin pillows and I have the same problem with the corners. I have some yarn and I'll definitely give that a try.
Great video
Thanks for the visit today. I always love seeing your finishes. It's nice to have some behind the scenes info now. Have a great week and stitch on!
You didn't know I was holding out on your with my secret yarn trick, did you? ;)
We all have so much on hand that we can use but are always so ready to buy more. Thank you
I always try and go through my closet before I buy something new. I've actually dug up quite a few things to use for finishing now that it's so much harder to get out and find something!
Thanks Helen! Just ordered the cord maker and a compass!
You'll love the cord maker! I should have mentioned that I use a 3M hook with a metal hook to make my cording. I just leave it up on the wall!
Helen D. Thanks for letting me know!
Helen I’ve loved these videos...and I’ve learned several new tricks. Thank you so much! Blessings, Marlene
Thank you so much Marlene!
Thank you for sharing, always looking for helpful tips on finishing items. Love your gnome & baby yoda!
great video! I see a couple things I need now!
I'm glad it was helpful!
Awesome tips Helen! The compass is my favorite tool! Great tip on the doll needle! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. 💗💕
Watch your finger with that doll needle!! ;)
Awesome ideas! I've been considering getting the cording tool so thank you for the info!!
I'm in love with my cording tool!
I should have mentioned that I use a 3M hook with a metal hook to make my cording. I just leave it up on the wall!
@@helend.flosstube that's a great idea!
Thank you!! I just started stitching, and I wish I watched this video sooner. This was so helpful to a beginner like me.
I'm glad it was helpful!!
Great job Helen. I literally don’t have any of the tools you use- isn’t that funny. BUT I will be getting most of them. This was super helpful. I knew you and Lynette would be perfect for this idea! Thanks so much for helping and being such an encouragement to me 😊.
I need to check out the Dollar Store for foam as soon as I can get back in there! I learned a lot from both of you!
This was excellent, Helen! Your finishes are always so perfectly and creatively executed!! I have one of those Kreinik cord makers but have never used it. I really need to give it a try. That was interesting about the fly tying.
Watch Vonna's cording tutorial, it's so easy! I leave a 3M Command hook with a metal hook up on the wall to use to make mine. It works great!
So much enjoyed all your info. The idea of using the magnets on the stitch piece to keep them from sticking together. I use magnets but put the magnet on the stitch piece. Loved the Christmas gnome. Could you please share info on how to get the pattern. Thank you so much. I always enjoy watching you.
I'm sorry, I don't know where the gnome came from. My sister made it for me a couple of years ago. I learned the hard way about putting the magnets on the stitched piece!
Loved this! I pulled up Amazon and ordered the items as I watched. The year charm idea is brilliant!
The point turner!!! I have been using wooden skewers 🤦🏼♀️ I’m a beginner sewer (mainly making a bunch of project bags from your tutorial) so this was super helpful! Thanks for the tip about using yarn in the corners of pillows. I’ll definitely have to try that! ❤️
I used skewers for a long time until I watched Vonna's video and she showed the point turner. I poke fewer holes in things now. ;) I'm glad the project bag tutorial has been helpful!
This was such an awesome video!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Having seen your work in person I know how amazing your finishes are. Thanks for sharing your tools. I have some shopping to do! 💕
Happy shopping!
Thank you for the tutorial. I have only finished a few items and are really interested in finishing tips.
I find finishing to be pretty addicting and really look forward to it now.
Love ur ideas
I made a ladybug needle minder just like urs
Great video!! 👍 I finish my own too. I’m stuffing pillows as I watch you. Yesterday I made cording from DMC perle cotton #5, I believe. It turned out wonderful! I’m going to go through perle cotton in my stash and turn it into trim. Last summer I discovered we were traveling near Kreinik but it was going to cost us several hours of travel time to our destination so we didn’t go. I really want to go some day but we are in NV so I don’t know if it will happen. Tell me what you want to buy at Kreinik. Do they do a factory tour? I heard they supported a lot of the costumes on Game of Thrones. I just bought that stitchery tape this morning. I’m going to try that and sturdy comic book board in lieu of “sticky board “. I don’t want to ruin my cutter and it is so hard to cut through sticky board.
I bet the perle cotton makes great cording! Kreinik does do some kind of tour I believe. I don't really need to buy anything there, but my husband's family is one town over, so it's not out of the way at all for us to go check it out. I hadn't heard that they worked on the Game of Thrones costumes, that's very cool! One tip for the tape, don't use your fabric scissors on it, if you're cutting a lot they will get sticky. :)
Thanks for all the tips. The compass is brilliant!
I am a court reporter.
I am not currently working (and that's fine, I was inching toward retirement anyway).
To keep up my practice on my steno machine, I decided I would take down tutorials for my personal use so I wouldn't have to deal with a computer in my finishing area.
I have made a transcript of this tutorial.
If you have any interest in it, if you want to attach it somehow to this video, you are more than welcome to it. I don't have the software to caption it or sync it, but people can just read it by itself or read along while watching the video on their own.
I also made one of Lynette's and Cynthia's.
It feels a bit stalkerish, I know, but I didn't want to just keep it for myself if you or others could benefit from it.
Just let me know if you have any interest in it.
Thank you Renda! I'm not sure if I can figure out how to use it for closed captioning, but I'll give it a try. My email is eastcoast.crafter.me@gmail.com. I used to work at a TV station and had to transcribe one of the shows for closed captioning every week. ;)
What good tips! Thank you. Quick question, what glue did you use on the washers and magnets?
Usually I just use hot glue and they hold pretty well. Sometimes I need to use my E600 to attach the magnet to whatever I'm finishing on if it won't hold.
👍🏼🌻
Thanks about the corners as I can’t get my corners tight like Vonnas either. Ha Dmc the only floss i can get here is .73 or 1.00 each and rarely on sale. 😕
Yikes! I also find some in thrift stores every once and a while and use that for cording too.
Cindy - I'm guessing you're from Canada - I pay the same for floss. .73 at Michaels and 1.00 at an LNS. Gets pricey when you're kitting a HAED!
Susan Z lol yea NS where are you? On,y ine LNS in Atlantic Canada and that’s in Moncton NB. There is a place out of hime closer but does good with customers that order it seems but us locals seem to get forgotten.
@@cindygaudet1390 I'm in a small town in Ontario, north east of Toronto. Moncton is a long drive from NS! Where are you in NS?
Susan Z oh cool we were married and had our kids in Ont. all my relatives are from ontario. We are in annapolis valley between kentville and wolfville. Where are you? Never know I may know it.lol
The little tiered tray behind you, where is that from?
I found that at Hobby Lobby last year. I think it was a spring item.
Great tools! I like the yarn in the corners💕Michele
Would you believe I don't think I even own a compass?!?!?!?!
WHAT!?! I'm appalled! Maybe Little One will let you borrow hers. ;)
Ok where is your hubby from? He is a fellow Mountaineer.
He's from Wirt County. How about you?
Helen D. Ok so between Parkersburg and Spencer. I grew up in Marion County.
@@polly-blueridgeneedleworker He lived there at one point when he worked in Fairmont. I remember he took me to the Dutchman's Daughter for lunch one visit.
Helen D. My friend you make him take you to Muriel’s next time.
@@polly-blueridgeneedleworker he says his step dad always had him bring several pints of their sauce home when he would visit!
Fantastic video. Are you willing to sell some of your 2019 charms
I have some! Send me your address, and I will mail them to you. Susan.heydt@gmail.com. No charge.
If you need more than what Susan sends you let me know and I can send you some too!
Great ideas, Thank you🙋😀
