Thank you for all the great pattern suggestions. This is a great way to expand your ideas: "What is your own style, and what do you want to knit"? I really like the two tone color work tank. I was imaging how this would look worked with a hand dyed varigated yarn and a solid color.

Teachers do homework best ❤: thanks for another well researched round up! I queued the Venetian tank last summer but never got around to knitting it, I’m hoping to make it this year! I really like the look of the Soho top and the lacy vest by Sari Nordland too. The peplum tops are extremely cute…. Must consider…. Though for me in middle age not nearly as practical as some of the plainer tops. But there are nieces galore to knit for…. And under a jacket or cardigan as an evening out look… lovely! Thanks again!

I loved so many of your picks - parachutey, Cora top, Florence tank and the intarsia top are some of my favorites. I don’t have many choices of summer yarn in my stash but I think if I start with a couple of single color tanks I’ll have lots of leftovers in no time.

The intarsia top has given me pause for thought 🤔 I don’t think that exact pattern will work for what I have in stash but it’s ignited the idea to search for intarsia patterns with my stash in mind. I have some gorgeous 4 ply and some cumulus which I want to use together in the same pattern but not held together, more like for the diaphanous but not that as that’s too voluminous….. but I now have a search term so thank you very much! 😊👌

These are fire! I'm new to knitting and was feeling a bit uninspired by the summer knits I've come across based on the lack of inclusivity so I'm so excited I found this video!!

Size inclusivity.
I was a seamstress for many years. When I bought a pattern, they came in different sizes but, not all in the same pattern. You purchased based on your size, 8-12, 14 to whatever.
With the size inclusive knitting patterns, you have pages and pages of 10-15 different sizes all in the same pattern. Finding, and following ones size is a as challenging as knitting the pattern. I think having even 6-8 sizes in one pattern of fine but then do another pattern for the next and the next sizes.
Thanks for sharing your sewing knowledge! I think read-ability of patterns is very important, and there are a lot of methods that can be used like highlighting the key info for your size. I suspect there are just different conventions that are followed in the two different spaces, although I do believe that as the knitting design space becomes more saturated, there is a pressure toward added value in terms of sizing options and more detailed instructions than more vintage patterns.

New to your channel, and find it really inspiring and a good knitting companion. Love this series of underrated patterns. As a norwegianer I have to recommend #Fabelknitwear ´s designs, she also have som more summery knits, with a very vintage design profile which stand out here in Scandinavia. I love the #folkloreruffleblouse, and have a #eowynblouse in my knitting plans.

Thanks for this Emily! I really enjoy these videos. I do feel that strappy tops are not really meant for knitted fabric…is there any way those straps are not going to stretch out? (Though the last one is really cute). Yamagara and lily Kate France both have several nice bra friendly tank options.
This is a great question. I think it’s important to be mindful of gauge…a lot of summery tops are knit at looser gauges for drapeyness, but I think this can cause more stretching over time. Fiber selection is also important, for example, silk and linen won’t grow as much as cotton over time. If it is a thinner strap knit separately from main fabric, I’d go down a needle size.
As youre commenting on Size inclusivity in patterns, I think its important to say these 'new' plus size patterns where the 'designers' have paid for a pattern editor, the price of these patterns cost much more than they used to. I am an ordinary knitter who cant afford a knit pattern because the creator is including pages of words that I dont want. When I buy a pattern for $20 au plus the $10 to get it printed at Office Works then its too much. Cost is more important when it comes to which patterns I can afford now. So Sizes in patterns determines wether to buy or not, more so than the designs..although there are patterns that are not what I would want in my clothing either. Just on anther thing, why do a lot of US hand knitters knit jumpers to wear next to skin? This seems to be a new trend that I've¹ noticed. That's my comments of Size. I do buy Plus size tops, but they are DESIGNED specifically with a few more threads that a Petite garment.
While I believe that designers, graders, and editors should be compensated reasonably for their work, I agree that cost accessibility is hard to balance in this hobby and not discussed as often as it could be. I try to include a mix of patterns in these kinds of videos, including free patterns, for this very reason!

I print patterns at the library it is only 25¢ a sheet also an option to print on both sides. Hope you can find cheaper printing
