Where can we see William Bell Scott's painting -The Rending of the Veil 1867-1868 ? A wonderful painting

Honestly it seems like the contemplation of the placement of the trees was irrelevant.

I am willing to bet that the serpent that Moses put on the rod was lightning. He made a lightning rod, which protected those around him from the "serpent's" bite, while those who would not come to it's protection, died. Lightning is often depicted as a serpent or dragon in ancient myths.
The circular holy of holies also makes you wonder if tolkein was inspired when he named his world "Middle Earth." The LOTR is basically a theatrical version of the "war in heaven".

The serpent represents Christ. Look to Christ and live.

@@eldbowers...yes...I think that people fear the symbol of a snake because of Satan being represented as a serpent in the garden of eden. But he is full of deception and would try to be seen as a type of Christ....a counterfeit.

I have thought of LOTR as a loose parable of sorts on Christianity. Christ is represented in two persons; one is a struggling passionate suffering Frodo and the other a triumphant warrior-king Aragorn. Indeed, isn't the title "The Return of The King" a type if what we will have at the Second Coming?

That's an intriguing thought! Not long ago I came to the conclusion that the fiery flying serpents were some sort of cosmic lightning, but to picture the staff as a protective lightning rod would add another piece to the puzzle.

Nicely done! I commenced generating a detailed comment on additional elements of the Lord's use of veils and the comment was dumped before I could hit the post button. I will take that as divine intervention. I would like to say how much I appreciated your statement that when we are ready, the Lord reveals insights. What scares me is that we become accountable for those revelations.

That’s an odd inference when the spirit could have just told you not to post it. I’ve had TH-cam glitch numerous times when posting totally trivial and innocuous things, but I’m sure in those cases you would not attribute that to divine intervention. Making unjustified inferences is how people have come to believe all sorts of false things. For example, an Ancient Greek would infer that Poseidon was displeased with them if they encountered unfavorable sailing conditions. Of course, _that_ wasn’t really an act of God because Poseidon doesn’t exist, but your failed comment was, right? Or maybe it actually wasn’t either.
