FINALLY! This song in *ACTUAL* A Capella. -.-
The original was made entirely with voices actually they just edited a few parts to make them deeper or higher but it was a capella yho

Ares williams If anything is edited it's not a capella anymore. That's the whole point of a capella, that nothing is edited or changed.
The Awesome Gaming Bros By that definition, nothing Mike Tomkins (and pretty much everyone who does solo a capella like him) is actual a capella. You think he actually sing Bass (or better yet, Bass - 1 octave) without some kind of digital help? Hate to break it to you, but most a capella groups now use some kind of digital assistance on their recordings (and sometimes even live). Regardless, it's still great and fun to listen to.

Was super excited to come across this video, as I sure do like me some KARMIN and TOM.
They are brilliant. Singing, writing their own songs, being able to play instruments (not in this case). There's no reason why they are not replacing iggy azalea or at nicki minaj status.
While I do love his content, most of Mike's videos are so digitally altered that the're more like EDM than acapella music. I still really like his vids and music though.

This is exactly what I try to tell his fans, but they just cover their ears pretending like they don't hear anything
I get what you're saying, but the idea is simply that the sounds all originate from his (and his guests', depending on the song) mouth. The fact that he's using sound engineering wizardry to morph those sounds doesn't change where they're coming from. Plus, there's still an appreciable difference between those morphed sounds and the synths, pads, instruments, etc. used in the original versions of the songs he covers. But, yes, there's definitely a big difference between what Mike does and what, say, Peter Hollens does (speaking of which, I really enjoy when the two of them get together, and the result is more along the lines of Peter's straight a cappella)..

Allyssa Rocero Forgive me if I'm misinterpreting your statement. He doesn't HAVE to alter the sound. There are groups like Pentatonix, Home Free, etc. who can perform acapella songs LIVE. While he couldn't do it live, and would need one heck of a range, it is not necessary to alter his voice digitally to perform a song.

Mike, how do you make your bass notes real heavy and echoed? Do you do an effect with a program after you record or do you use a certain system to put a bass effect on your voice?

He uses several voice processing and mixing elements in his producing. He uses a reverb effect in the program and lowers the octave once. His voice isn't really that low lol.

it's "how i make my video" mike ..
btw he put layers over layers and combine 2 voices to make it looks like really bass and low also heavy. 1 with usual voice and 2nd with the lower octave..
