  • John from www.okraw.com/ shares with you how eating THIS PART of the apricot can potentially kill you and how and why he does it for health benefits.
In this episode, you'll learn about the incredible health benefits hidden within the apricot, a fruit that often goes underappreciated. John reveals that the apricot is a superfood, packed with essential nutrients and phytonutrients, and shares his personal experiences of picking and eating fresh apricots, which far surpass the quality and flavor of store-bought ones. He emphasizes the importance of consuming ripe apricots directly from the tree or a U-pick farm to truly enjoy their full nutritional value and taste.
You'll also discover a surprising secret about apricot pits, which most people discard. John explains that these pits contain valuable nutrients, including protein, vitamins, and amygdalin, which have potential health benefits such as anti-cancer properties. He demonstrates how to properly dry and crack open apricot pits to access the edible kernel inside, comparing its appearance and taste to almonds. John encourages you to incorporate these kernels into your diet but also warns about the potential toxicity if consumed in large quantities.
Finally, the episode delves into the scientific research supporting the health benefits of apricot kernels. You'll learn about their bioactive compounds and their roles in fighting diseases, improving cerebral function, and supporting overall health. John provides practical advice on how to safely consume apricot kernels, considering factors like body weight and sensitivity. By the end of the episode, you'll be equipped with valuable knowledge on maximizing the health benefits of apricots and their often-overlooked kernels.

They sell apricot seeds at some Asian markets. Bitter almonds are good, I think any stone fruit pit is about the same too isn't it? The hunza eat lots of apricot seeds.

Lol I've been eating those since my dad got diagnosed with cancer over a decade ago. I started eating them so he wouldn't have to do it alone. I'm still alive and I've eaten tons of them. I'm so tired of people acting like they're so dangerous when you have stuff like acetaminophen that can destroy someone's liver with a sing recommended dose, and they give it to babies. 🙃

I was at a friend's yesterday who has apricot trees and told me about the seeds. I tried one and it's different but I liked it. She told me the same thing, cancer fighting and B17. Never heard of B 17 before! What a coincidence. 😊

Many years ago I lived in Vancouver and people had apricot, pear and other fruit trees in their yards with no fences and they were delicious, as most fruit were 50 - 60 years ago.
Now living in Sydney Australia you can't eat any stone fruit because they're all either rock hard or totally tasteless. Same with mangoes, pineapples, cantaloupes and other melons. Abundant but hard as rock and unripe. Terrible what has happened to fruit and almost all commercially grown fruit and vegies. Almost impossible to get organic, or it's 3 times the price but the fruit is still unripe.

The best stone fruits are when you or your neighbour or friend have your own tree.i don't even bother buying them at the store anymore it's such a put off they have the taste & texture of soap.
