Time is a lyrical masterpiece. Considered one of the greatest lyrical performances of all time. How do you write a song about a subject as all encompassing as time without it coming off as cheesy and cliche or convoluted and overly wordy? Yet Roger Waters (the lyricist and one of Pink Floyd's two vocalists) did exactly that.

Agree that The Great Gig in the Sky should be your next song if you felt the background vocals here. It comes directly after this song and it’s less a “song” and more a musical interlude but its fantastic(it’s actually my favorite song of anything anywhere by anyone ). However, I’m surprised at the lack of people requesting the song Money. It’s one of Floyd’s more popular and more upbeat songs and it’s very dynamic. I think it’d be a song you’d really enjoy
The backing vocals are from "Clare Torry". She is the featured vocalist in the following song "The Great Gig in the Sky". Many Pink Floyd songs are not meant to be listened to as individual songs. Time and the great gig in the sky are meant to be played as one song. In fact, Dark side of the moon is meant to be played in it's entirety.
Agreed. Listening to any individual track from 'The Wall' will be even more challenging because the audio might just cut off at the end; many of the songs across all of Pink Floyd's catalog, in fact, are supposed to roll into the next song uninterrupted.

Pink Floyd didn't make songs, they made albums. There is always a continuous theme to all the songs in the given album, like a story unraveling along the way. You can try "Dogs" by them, from their "Animals" album (very underrated and my favorite btw)
Sam Khan for their Concept albums, yes. Only Dark Side, WYWH, Animals, The Wall, The Final Cut are Concept albums, Division Bell had a common theme, but wasnt a concept album. Remember, Dark Side is their 9th studio album.

This song kicks ass except when you're falling asleep with your Pink Floyd playlist in the background and then all those clocks kick off at once and put you back to square one.

Buddy, you just found out the secret to Pink Floyd: The instrumentals are just as important (maybe even a bit more) than the lyrics. Especially David Gilmour's soulful solos!
You have to get high and listen to the whole album at once . It's one of the best records ever made, that takes you on a awesome journey. Each song is building up to the next and so on. The whole album is like one long song. Fuckin amazing! 😘

This is one of those albums that everyone remembers exactly where they were, or what they were doing, when they heard it for the very first time. I sure as hell do!!
The female voice in the background is British session singer Clare Torry. She sang backup on the whole album. She really shines in Great Gig in the Sky.
I'm lucky enough to have seen Pink Floyd twice😁 PIGS, Great Gig in the Sky & Have A Cigar are a MUST for u!!!! U will 💖 them all!!! Great Gig in the Sky is beyond soulful😉

The singer is Claire Torry who also sings Great Gig In the Sky. She improvised Great Gig in 2 and 1/2 takes. The company only paid her £30 session fee. Years later the group bumped into Claire in a cafe. When they heard what she got paid they gave her a large cheque but years later she got co-writing credit and sued the company and won an undisclosed sum. She wasn't angry or blamed Pink Floyd as she often sung with them after.

Look at the lyrics as you hear the songs ... they all tell a story that in most circumstances, can relate directly to your life or where your life is going ... part of why I love the 70s-90s ... they tell the story that current music cannot seem to duplicate ... keep the reaction vids going bro ... love em

The whole album is one big experienced. And, you gotta watch the wizard of oz sync
@@trdacy Yep, that's what I found too. But Doris Troy was the main R&B vocalist on "Time". If you listen to Doris Troy's big hit "Just One Look", you'll recognize her voice. "Just One Look" is a very classic R&B song.
Tyson Newman Clare Torry from the uk was the main female vocalist from 1971-86
+Chris Liverpool England Clare was a session vocalist and was not a member of the band. She only worked with them a handful of times and very rarely joined them live.
My man threw his hands up when the guitar solo dropped.
Makes me smile!!!
You almost miss something if you try to break Dark Side of the Moon into "songs"! It is best start to finish, then do it again.
This☝️👏
animals is their best album. just not considered their "mainstream" best
Animals! By far my favorite Pink Floyd album start to finish! Dark Side a very, very close second!
Preston! I think you should listen to comfortably numb from their pulse concert. You would absolutely love the solo at the end. So emotional and so genius. David Gilmore is a god.
Many consider this the greatest guitar solo ever recorded!
Robert Menottis that's right
He already did Comfortably Numb.
Julia Van Blarcom but live version is better
Oh, I whole heartedly agree.
But it's unlikely that he'll react to the same song twice. Unfortunately.
Dont know who yo are King KTF, just happened across your channel, but your really seem to understand music at a deep level. your reaction to the background singers brought me to tears, music does that, it gets to places where you thought your life was dried up, just to discover the vast world that is still undiscovered, inspired music. God Bless.
James Smith I love how Pink Floyd brings people together with how beautiful their music is. :')
Rule one of Floyd Club: Do NOT STOP a David Gilmour solo. EVER.
Really. SOLO IS THE BEST.
The Gods of Music are pleased with KTF. THEY'RE PLEASED WITH KTF!!! Preston, You are my favourite channel right now. I've even discovered songs because of your videos. Keep doing you, you have no idea how much you are in my circle of friends AND how many Rock fans love you. Much respect, Keep on...
Not sure who that singer in the background was. They had a number of great background vocalists on the album. Great Gig in The Sky really features one of them. Take a listen, you won't regret it.
Claire H Torry
Listening to instrumental: I feel really calm
Listening to lyrics: Fuuuuckkkk
This song makes my heart ache every time... Missing those that are gone and wondering when my time will come...
YAAAAAS! Next: Pink Floyd - Dogs
Absolutely....
complete animals Dogs , Sheep, Pigs
I love Pigs and Sheep too. That sounded wrong...
Yes listen to Dogs those solos fuckkkkkkk
Yesssssss!!!
This song kicks ass except when you're falling asleep with your Pink Floyd playlist in the background and then all those clocks kick off at once and put you back to square one.
😂😂 so many nights I've been on the edge of sleep and practically fall out of bed when this song starts
Man, your reactions are great. To see somebody enjoy stuff like you have for years is fun to watch. Keep doing what you're doing!! 👍👍
I'll be 61 in a few hours, and Pink Floyd was on my stereo at 17. I am SO happy that you are experiencing the joy I also feel whenever I listen to them. I hope you pass it on to all your friends. Oh, and you are definitely right: We were "spoiled" with some of the best music ever. (From your Pink Floyd "Dogs"reaction) I hope Pink Floyd continues to be enjoyed long after I'm gone.
Clare H. Torry (born 29 November 1947) is a Britishsinger, best known for performing the wordless vocals on the song "The Great Gig in the Sky" by the group Pink Floyd on their 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.
Clare Torry doesn’t sing on this track. It’s Doris Troy.
Bro i've been binging your videos because they remind me of how these songs hit me when i was first listening to them, keep it up!
Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd. Do that one next. You will love it!!
Again Pink Floyd was named after two R&B players Pink Anderson & Floyd Council!
I wasnt aware. Now i know which one is Pink
@@AHMspadina That's true, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council were some very old school blues players back in the old days, way back there.
If you listen to this song over time it will become your favourite Floyd song. It's science
Fact. The older you get the more this song grips you and draws you in. It was always my favourite Floyd song even as young as 10 Yrs old. But it's only got better over the last 20 years ☺️
Pigs (Three Different Ones), Have A Cigar, Echoes, Another Brick In The Wall (full version)
im with you on all that but i have to say Animals the whole album is just nasty. i picked Dogs but that album is soo good
Aaron Hickman dogs is another good one :)
Yes! Have a cigar ❤
Yes! Yes! and Eh...
Shine on you Crazy Diamond.... it will be your new favorite 🤠
Nobody seems to request this one on this channel, while it's clearly in every Pink Floyd Top 5 you can find anywhere... It's a mystery.
I know right. Pink Floyd is soooooo awesome.
Please Preston do this song and you will be a serious Pink Tool fan
All the Parts of Shine on!
Actually, the whole damn album!
@,Blair Bowers, you'd b a fool, not to b a fan of PINK TOOL! lol.
This song means more to me now in my 60s than it did when I first heard it in my 20s. The years go so quickly these days
I am 30, but walking on ur path.
I love how you FEEL the music. You can read it in every fiber of your being
"It's like listening to R'nB" - most of the best brit bands of that era were heavily inspired by American blues, so it's not a coincidence :)
And the female singer is Clare Torrey she is even more amazing on the great gig in the sky track
Ed Cummings Nope. Doris Troy sings on Time. Clare Torry sings on Great gig in the sky.
@@keithandersonbrady5026 never even noticed it was two different women singing cause of how the one song flows into the other on the album, thanks
The woman singing in the background is Clair Torry. She is the that angelic soulful voice on Great Gig in The Sky as well. Can listen to her all day.
Claire sang Great Gig in the Sky- not Time. See mikimike's list below is correct as verified on the video of making DSoM
LMFAO the pink floyd gods lol
Plz bro shine on you crazy diamond plz react to it by pink floyd you'll be saying the diamond gods are pleased with pink floyd
You need to check out the Pink Floyd song "Us and Them." Seriously, man. Trust me on this one.
Yes, my favorite!
@@cmholmes1067
Slightly repetitive don't you think?
GOTY
Love what you do man! I’ve seen so many reaction videos and you do the best ones! So genuine and real! Tool and Pink Floyd both are roadmaps of amazing and important perspectives!
The guitar solo in this song always gives me goosebumps! So damn good
Buddy, you just found out the secret to Pink Floyd: The instrumentals are just as important (maybe even a bit more) than the lyrics. Especially David Gilmour's soulful solos!
The spaces/silence in between notes
The way they take their time
Words? Where we're going we don't need words.
they are the best produced band ever it's not even close
Pink Floyd = Everything's perfect
You have to get high and listen to the whole album at once . It's one of the best records ever made, that takes you on a awesome journey. Each song is building up to the next and so on. The whole album is like one long song. Fuckin amazing! 😘
Let us not forget "Echos".
No need to get high. The music gets you high just close your eyes.
Such a positive happy guy❤ Thank you for being you
Did this on shrooms while in wilderness and it was truly awesome
@@jacobmcintosh5166 no need indee, but it's a nice bonus :)
Nobody makes their guitar sing like David Gilmour
Clair Tory did "the Great Gig in the Sky ONLY" The background singers for Time were Doris Troy, Lesley Duncan & Liza Strike.
Play Pink Floyd across the country and reduce crime 15%!
Yep. legalize ganja and play this all the time....we'd all realize how stupid anger and rage are and how f'd up it is to spend your few trips around the sun doing dumb shit.
"I feel real calm right now!"
Wait 15 seconds.
Preston, check out the Pink Floyd movie “The Wall”. You’ll love it. It’d be too much to do a whole video but something like highlights or a review after from you would be awesome! Keep it up man, I love checking these out!
And for that matter, listen to the “Dark Side of the Moon”album straight through. Takes about 45 minutes and you’ve heard a few already, but Floyd is meant to be listened to an entire album at a time...it all flows together seamlessly.
@@schrims55 it's truly an experience. I dont think Preston smokes weed, but ideal conditions for Floyd is a blacklit room, big headphones, a joint, and a comfy place to lay.
Agreed with all also if you want to chill out get yourself a copy of live at Pompeii and watch that. Always puts me at ease
I wrote the same thing but would love to see his reaction to the movie in general..
I always wanted to watch that film. What is it like?
Your passion shows 100%, Sir & watching your material is a pleasure.
Respect from Belfast, Ireland. 👍
this album is one of the best to listen to while high.
‘The Great Gig In The Sky ‘ features vocals by the same female singer. Do that next!
preston your my favorite . you should treat yourself and listen to the whole album from the beginning till the end. Its a beautiful experience flows so well like nothing else you have heard.
Agreed!! there is nothing like this album played from front to back!
Preston - hold on I wanna hear that 1 more time
Me - yeah you do
Good video, please react to Pink Floyd ... The great Gig In The Sky!! You'll have chills to the next level.
She is showcased in Pink Floyd - Great Gig In The Sky. If her little bit in this buzzed. Great Gig is gonna lift you off your seat Preston.
This album, 'Dark Side of the Moon' was on the Billboard Top 100...for EIGHT YEARS!!! Fact.
closer to 15 years... 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988.
And it only dropped off because Billboard changed the "guidelines", otherwise its estimated based on the original guidelines it would have remained on the charts for over 1500 weeks.
Best experienced with decent headphones and some primo sativa.
garethwright6 In the dark.
Listening with focal elex headphones with just the right NOS tube on the LYR 3, sounds pretty sweet to me
LSD and album on repeat
OMG I just started listing to this song for the fist time with a nice set of headphones .WOW. Nothing today can compare....
Timothy McCune you have to listen to the entire album start to finish with a good pair of headphones trust me you won’t be disappointed!
This is one of those albums that everyone remembers exactly where they were, or what they were doing, when they heard it for the very first time. I sure as hell do!!
You are at the top of reaction videos.
You liked this and several other Floyd songs so much. Why did you stop??? Many more Pink Floyd masterpieces for you to experience,
Rick Carioti didn't one of the members wife die and he quit to raise his kids.
He fell down that rabbit hole deep
The female voice in the background is British session singer Clare Torry. She sang backup on the whole album. She really shines in Great Gig in the Sky.
I'm lucky enough to have seen Pink Floyd twice😁 PIGS, Great Gig in the Sky & Have A Cigar are a MUST for u!!!! U will 💖 them all!!! Great Gig in the Sky is beyond soulful😉
Atheist in Alabama I saw roger waters in Copenhagen 2 months ago, but I would be better to see them together.
Thank GOD for Pink Floyd!
I remember running and skipping back home with my pink floyd record (vinyl) ..... desperate to hear it and wow it was out of this world!! Still resonates and never fails to delight after all these years .... as a Grandma of 4!!
Great gig in the sky, dogs, shine on you crazy diamond, and interstellar overdrive
Bro you've got to react to " Echoes" by pink Floyd!! It's like having a voyage through time and space, he rock gods will be pleased.... trust me... 😀😀😀👍👍
The solo from Live at Pompeii version...
I love Comfortably Numb but hearing it live at the Pulse Concert is epic.
One thing I really enjoy about your reactions is that in many cases I've heard the songs maybe thousands of times and, likely as many of your other fans, know when a certain lyric, riff, vocal, etc is coming up... And to see your honest facial reaction, smile, surprise, hold on bruh, etc. You can truly tell you have an appreciation and ear for music. 🍻👊
Claire Tory....great gig in the sky is all her check it out
Iron Maiden Powerslave, any song on that album masterpiece. Pink Floyd Animals, even more of a masterpiece, and Tool, Lateralus, epic masterpiece. Keep on rocking bruh 🤘
Nicholas Oliveira he reacted to Lateralus, I agree with you that song is insane. That album is my favorite album all time.
@@marcforte2001 I was referring to albums, any song on those albums are masterpieces.
Santana - BLACK MAGIC WOMAN!
Look at the lyrics as you hear the songs ... they all tell a story that in most circumstances, can relate directly to your life or where your life is going ... part of why I love the 70s-90s ... they tell the story that current music cannot seem to duplicate ... keep the reaction vids going bro ... love em
I think you are ready for "Great Gig In The Sky" it will please the Pink Floyd Gods for you to experience it. Enjoy!
Preston! Preston! Preston! Stop! React to the whole Dark Side of the Moon album. The pieces are great, but the album is WELL worth the "time" (sorry) and the Pink Floyd gods will be pleased with YOU! Great Gig in the Sky is fire, but do the whole album.
That's a lot to ask for bro, I'm sure Preston has shit to do. This shit takes TIME.
I would watch the fuck out of that shit though
Busy or not, TIME is MONEY.
I love watching you react to these songs! :-)
Dude you are making me appreciate Floyd all over again. Their music comes back into my life in different seasons and I can appreciate it in all new ways. Such an absolutely killer band, absolutely legendary, almost every song is just dope. I can't explain it. I can finally start to see what people were getting at who proudly wore pink Floyd shirts and gear before I even knew who they were or anything...I can finally see a little bit of what those people were trying to represent and carry with them to spread to others.
