- India's ally Russia has praised New Delhi's G20 presidency. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who is in New Delhi, said that India and Russia have commonalities in worldview. He further added that both countries share the philosophies of Russian writer Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi. Lavrov made the statement while addressing a gathering at a special G20 pavilion in New Delhi. He also attended the G20 Foreign Ministers' meet after a bilateral meeting with India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday.

There is nothing special because G20 Presidency is decided by rotation. Not by election. Every member will get it's chance once every 20 years.. Other than an influence over the G20’s agenda, the presidency does not come with any formal power.. India holds the G20 presidency in 2023. An events calendar can be found on the Indian Government's official website. Indonesia held the G20 presidency in 2022, with the G20 Bali Leaders' Declaration released on 16 November 2022. Brazil will host the G20 in 2024, followed by South Africa in 2025. The members of the G-20 are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the U.K. and the U.S., as well as the European Union, represented by the rotating council presidency and the European Central Bank..
