  • In 1963 Ryton Urban District Council celebrated its centenary with various special events and a grand parade. Blaydon resident Jack Teasdale filmed some of the activities.
    There is no sound track.

    Love these old home movies of the area. Life did seem to be a lot more simple then to what we go through today, and almost all the kids are marching in time, all well grown up now.

      Yes that struck me watching these again. Compared with the way the world is today it seems like an age of innocence. Certainly already a bygone age. Happy days they were.

    I remember the fayre with roundabouts…..think one of my shoes fly off on the ride ! Heck, it looks like something from Much further back than 63 😳oh boy !! 🌹💝

      Yes I know what you mean. I think it's because things have advanced so incredibly since those days. They seem so innocent now.

    Amazing. Sadly we just recently had both my grandmas & dad's funerals at Ryton holy cross Church

      I'm very sorry to hear of your bereavements. Glad you enjoyed the video made by my late father in law.
