Erroll Brown lead singer born in Jamaica and moved to Britain. Had wife and kids and conservative. He ran for a political position in Britain under the Conservative Party. Considered very polite and well mannered according to those that knew him or came in contact with him.
Errol Brown wasn't gay. He died from cancer in 2015. He had a wife and two daughters. He was originally from Jamaica and moved to the UK when he was 12.
Hot chocolate were a unique band. In an age of afros, the lead singer was sporting a bald head. Secondly, they were a multiracial band when such bands were few and far in between. They had great catchy singles and a mainstream sound.
Late 70s if you were a rocker, it was cool to trash disco...'disco sucks' shirts were everywhere, but I gotta admit, when I hear songs like this, or KC and the Sunshine Band, Donna Summer, Bee Gees...it brings back some memories
"disco" has been a show on german TV saturday evening in the 70s. I tried to miss not a single one when I was young to see great bands like Hot Chocolate. This show got all the stars.
disco was a German Music Television Show. I grew with it in the 70s and 80s. Try "Emma" from Hot Chocolate. They show the Adress of the management. You could write a letter with a back envelope and you get an autograph card.
I grew up in that generation. I was 20 years old when the song came out. I grew up with heavy rock, but this song is great. Excellent funk/disco sound.
You should really react to Hot Chocolate performing the original version of Brother Louie, compared to Midnight Special Stories version. The singer of Hot Chocolate, Errol Brown co-wrote this song. There are some extra things in it that will make you think, and for the 70's in England it was very reactionary.
I think I heard this one in my early childhood because it sounded familiar when Bootsauce covered it back in 1990 or so. Great tune, great reaction, love you kids. 👍✌❤
I loved Hot Chocolate when I was growing up, and looked forward to their latest release on Top of the Pops. They had killer track after killer track. They were great. This is possibly their most famous song, but by no means their best.
"Everyone's a winner" is a midway, fair-ground come-on. The barker at the game of chance says it to entice people to play. In this song it's just meant as a seductive reassurance to a prospective partner; it's not really meant to apply to everyone. IMHO. By the way, there's an excellent cover version by Bootsauce, out of Montreal.
There is a longer live version of this song that has a much more prominent guitar solo. You get to hear a bunch more of that killer guitar riff with that fuzz pedal.
Hi Brad and Lex. I'm so glad you reviewed this song. I may well have been one of those who recommended it before. What a brilliant hook and riff it's got. Æx 🙏
He wasn't singing "you'll never feel satisfied". He was singing "you never FAIL to satisfy"! If she never fails to satisfy him, HE'S the 'winner' in that case, & if that's repeated everywhere, by everyone, that would make everyone.........a winner!! It's so simple really!! 😃
One of the coolest guitar riffs of all time and absolutely one of the most memorable
Hot Chocolate where an extremely successful British group during the 70’s. Errol Brown was the Lead Singer!
I had no idea they were British.
It’s been a LONG time since I’ve heard this one.
Interesting
📻🙂
Great memories, what a voice!!
Great British band. They were huge in the UK - had a string of top ten hits throughout
the 70s and 80s.
Totally underated guitar riff!
Love Ty Seggal's version th-cam.com/video/c2_3gOKr_pg/w-d-xo.html It gives it that extra oomph!
ahould hear the long version
Brad & Lex, you'll love their "You Sexy Thing" !!
1:53 sounds like they’ve done it 😂
@@kJ922-h3j yup, either their reaction was taken down, its in their queue or they decided not to review.
No Doubt About It.
But the actual name of the song is called

He was also a total sex symbol for women.
That guitar riff is an instant icon. Friggin' genius.
one of the all time bests. and quite unique

Brings me back to the disco days, Hot Chocolat had a lot of disco hits, great dance music! 🎶🎶🎶👍
Think they were the first band in UK history to go to number 1 with the same song in 3 different decades with " I believe in miracles"
Late 70s if you were a rocker, it was cool to trash disco...'disco sucks' shirts were everywhere, but I gotta admit, when I hear songs like this, or KC and the Sunshine Band, Donna Summer, Bee Gees...it brings back some memories
Shhhh. don't tell them ;)
I could not stand disco but have to say these guys were something else. Absolutely filthy guitar sound, never got tired of them

Bass and guitar fuzz make this along with the charismatic vocals.
