The fact that Kendall has these families relay their stories on her channel speaks VOLUMES. And I feel a sense of pride knowing that I watch Kendall’s coverage of TC. Ethical coverage. It shows that she’s not just telling these stories to line her pockets with TH-cam cash but because she has a real passion for justice and I LOVE that. ❤

Paramedic here, wanted to explain the unconscious/seizure/combative situation. Someone in a seizure is labelled "unconscious" because a true tonic clonic seizure means the patient has no state of consciousness to them; they cannot respond to you, and they will not remember what happened. Someone can be hard to pin down to give medication if they are having a full tonic-clonic/grand Mal seizure because of the extensive tightening of their muscles, it may even appear that they are "fighting" or resisting you. I've seen patients almost throw punches in this state. It may be hard for a paramedic to pin down a larger person, especially a smaller female paramedic, like myself, 130lbs, vs a 250lbs man tensing all his muscles at once. Sometimes, Ive called for police back up to help in these situations. Describing the patient as unconscious isn't unheard of, or uncommon, and they could also be described as combative, since the police often will request a reason why they are needed if they are busy and dont have the resources to send just for nothing. Saying key words like "unconscious" and "combative" when requesting back up by police gets you the help you need as fast as possible and also describes the situation the police can expect to walk into. Requesting back up for just a combative patient paints a different picture for the police walking into that situation (a violent person trying to hurt a paramedic), vs unconscious combative which would hint more towards a medical reason why the patient is acting that way, which is also important for the police to know.
I thought this too...tone too. One time as a student I was caring for a guy who had a prior SCI who was anesthetized for some surgery. He told me before he went under that he had "wicked" tone when his legs were moved and I didn't think much of it. I moved his legs and the the man snapped into hip flexion (it was triggering a bear trap) and kicked me in the face so hard I hit the floor. Never underestimated tone again.
i lost my mother in 2020 due to alcoholism which people have a hard time being compassionate for generally, so thank you for being so understanding towards addiction. i hope natalia gets justice for her father ❤
I enjoy this kind of content too, I feel like you're doing such important work. You bring a lot of humanity to these stories, not just a true crime story, but justice for a life. I think some people get caught up in just watching a mystery story. Hearing from the families makes such a deeper connection! I'm from RI, I didn't even know about this story until now!
Myself, along with many fellow Rhode Islanders in the comments, have never heard of this case. I live a town over from Cranston. Natalia, you are so strong and thank you for your bravery in sharing this. I pray that your dad’s story continues to get out there and that you find justice and peace. Thank you Kendall for using your platform to get spread awareness. I will be calling the Cranston PD in the morning!
I liked this format much better than you interviewing the families throughout the entire video!! Having the family member answer set questions and then you continue on to tell us the case. Thank you Kendall!
My favorite guest episode. I’m so sorry alcohol abuse has anything to do with this. My husband lost his father in mysterious circumstances and because of his alcohol abuse it was never looked into. I hope this man gets justice. ❤
Sounds as if the police department knows they’ve messed up so bad their pride is bruised. Stay strong sweetheart! ♥️ Don’t ever give up. Someone knows something. Take care! ✨
Kendall, thank you for shining light on a lot of these real life issues. You are amazing for including the family in these videos. It probably gives them so much hope and a sense of excitement that a major platform creator like yours has came across their situation. I cant even imagine the pain they experience and for you to be there has to feel amazing. I saw her on TikTok also. I was waiting for it to catch the attention of someone who would cover it.
There was a murder a town over from where I live that just had an arrest made after 20 years. I heard about it a couple years ago when the family started really pushing the billboards and flyers. It made a huge difference. There is still hope for this case to be solved! Peace and love to Natalia and Shawn's family ❤
Thank you for always working hard. I'm a silent watcher and have been for years but I do think I should leave more messages to my favourite TH-camrs at time is important so if you're reading this please have a lovely week. ❤
As a Rhode Islander myself, I honestly don't recall this ever being mentioned on local news; however, I was only 16 years old at the time. I hope answers can be found so the family can have closure.
I'm from the area too. I was in my mid 20's at the time. I do remember the case but when they stop reporting on it you forget or think it's been solved. It's heartbreaking, he reminds me of my dad in a lot of ways
I had a friend down the street at the time and briefly remember this being reported on. I don't think it will ever be solved. Not like Cranston is top notch and too much time has passed
I really appreciate you covering this case Kendall. My whole life my father has struggled with an addiction, he also happens to be a carpenter. It is an on again off again battle with not only themselves but everyone around them. Thank you for letting his story be heard, these people are just as important as the demons they face. My heart is with their family!
I live in Providence and had never heard of this case. Thanks for providing awareness! I really hope that Natalia and her family get answers and justice.
If Natalia reads this. Your dad is so proud of you for going above and beyond to get him justice. You are amazing. I am so so sorry and I hope these criminals get the punishment they deserve. My deepest condolences.
As someone that grew up in RI, how Cranston PD is responding isn't shocking to me. I never saw anything about this story while living at home. It's beyond disappointing that they won't just give Natalia the documents she needs.
This man was on my fathers baseball team… I thought he looked familiar in the childhood photos… he is in my dads team photo 😮 I’m 26, from Rhode Island. It is so crazy to think of how similar our childhood experience was, and how close in age our fathers are. Less than a year apart. I was born in December of 1997, right before my dad turned 23.
Natalia, I know that you haven’t gotten the justice that you seek and so clearly deserve for your daddy but I just wanted to say how phenomenal you are as daughter as woman and as a person! The awareness that you have created is so amazing and it’s definitely created a huge amount of an unstable existence for the two creeps who are so obviously guilty of causing your dad Shawns passing. He couldn’t be more proud of you, I don’t know you but I couldn’t be more proud of you either!
The way you utilize your platform to help others is so admirable. Amazing to see some good in such a dark world 💙 prayers for all those involved in this case.
I am a Rhode Islander, and this makes me so mad. I like to think our RI police departments are mostly good and just, but that is unfortunately not always the case. I’ve never heard about this particular case. Thank you Kendall for getting it out there!
This case is so.tragic and I pray that Natalia gets the justice she deserves. Thank you for covering this case Kendall. I live in Cranston. It is a nice community and I suggest we all support Natalia in her quest for justice. I would be happy to sign a petition and donate to the GoFundMe. Maybe we should all call the Mayor's office. We are a small state and need to support Natalia.
Is there a petition yet to try and get Cranston PD to turn over the files to the original ME and/or state police? Phone number/email to reach out to at the police department? I feel like we could flood them and finally get them to listen. We've done it before. I'm so so sorry for Natalia. No family member should ever have to go through this having to get law enforcement to do their jobs. To care. This is ridiculous. I can't imagine.
Thank you for not discrediting the goodness in victims due to struggles with addiction. This happens too much which proves our struggle as a society to understand and find solutions for this problem. Every human has a right to live safely without being violated in any way regardless of what they put in their body. The only instance where a human should be violated is to stop direct harming of another.
Thank you Kendall for sharing this story a lot of people wouldn’t care about an addiction. You truly don’t judge. I’m so sorry for this family and that this man had to die this tragic way. I have a family of addicts and it isn’t easy but they should still get justice they are STIlL human! ❤ I will do everything I can to support his heartbroken daughter.
I heard about Shawn's case on the Crime Junkie podcast but I'm so glad you were able to speak to the family, it adds so much humanity to these videos. Much love to Natalia ❤️
As someone who suffers from seizures quite often, I can tell you that this is absolutely most definitely not a seizure and I really hope his daughter gets the justice she needs for her father because no one should ever have to go through something horrible like this and I will most definitely share this story so hopefully the word spread and also thank you Kendall for cover this story and my thoughts and prayers go out to his daughter and they're family ❤
Such a sad story I really appreciate his daughters strength and determination in trying to get justice for her father. Shawn seemed like such a great guy 😢
It was obviously NO accident or seizure. Good GOD the injustice in some of these cases just make me loose faith in humanity but then these fabulous and INTELLIGENT true crime podcasters come on here and give big support to the victim's families. Then my faith comes back. God bless Natalia, her dad, the fam & friends. ❤🙌 Kendall you are an angel to these families. Thank u so much for all that you guys do!
I swear the sheer frustration these family members endure when it comes to the shitty handling of their loved ones’ suspicious deaths is just beyond awful. How they find the strength to pursue justice day in and day out for years and years I don’t know, but they are truly inspiring. I hope she gets justice for her dad
As a person with full blown grad mal seizures and have experienced my fair share of falls I personally can most definitely say that this was far from a seizure or “undetermined”
I’ve heard about this case before and it’s so frustrating! I’m really glad you’re covering it, and helping the family out. They seriously deserve justice!
Natalia might want to get in touch with Michael Baden, the expert medical examiner in the US. He has a TV show called Autopsy. He has solved so many cases.
I'm from Rhode Island born and raised and I've never heard about this case. I moved down to SC 16 years ago but still have relatives currently living in RI. I will def share your story to everyone I know. Too many red flags. Lets bring justice.
This is why you're one of the few True Crime creators I trust. You actively bring the families of victims on, and you talk about the subject matter in some of the most delicate ways I've seen. ❤
Perfectly said. She is the only person on TH-cam that I’m aware of that does this. All of the work she does with families and NCMEC is incredible.
@@tb4954 definitely
I feel the exact same way. Its non sensationalizing tragedy. Its sharing for purpose and actually making a difference.
Natalia should really reach out to crime weekly podcast but mostly Derrick Levasseur! He’s a former RI detective and may be able to help reach out to contacts he may still have!! I’m in Massachusetts, justice for Shawn O’Brien!!
Yes! As soon as I heard the state I thought of Derrick! Maybe crime weekly will cover it too!

Natalia- my dad died in a weird way too, we will never have answers. Don’t stop fighting. He isn’t just a addict- he deserves Justice!
How?
A huge thanks to Kendall and everyone at Mile Higher Media that helped get Shawn’s story out there!
Are you cousin Vinny? My condolences to your family, if so.
@@apriljk6557yes I am! Thank you very much💚
You should contact crime weekly too! Derrick used to be a detective in Rhode Island so might have some contacts
@@aoky9179I’ve been trying to reach out to Derrick and Stephanie Harlowe! I will keep trying! Thank you:)
Stephanie's fans should comment about this to her!
thank you Sean’s Daughter for being so brave and doing this, i hope that you’re healing and that everyday gets better for you ❤
i lost my mother in 2020 due to alcoholism which people have a hard time being compassionate for generally, so thank you for being so understanding towards addiction. i hope natalia gets justice for her father ❤
That’s really awful that her extended family isn’t supporting her and is trying to tear her down. Shame on them.
I will be calling the Cranston PD in the morning!
thank you!
Praying for justice to be served! You are bringing hope to so many Kendall! Thanks for all you do!
I was waiting for it to catch the attention of someone who would cover it.
idk why but when family members tell the stories i get goosebumps. also justice for the family
I grew up in Rhode Island and never heard about this. I’m glad you got the word out. Hopefully this case can get some attention
There was a murder a town over from where I live that just had an arrest made after 20 years. I heard about it a couple years ago when the family started really pushing the billboards and flyers. It made a huge difference. There is still hope for this case to be solved! Peace and love to Natalia and Shawn's family ❤
My late father struggled with alcohol. Thank you for humanizing him. Gave my heart a bit of closure for my own father ❤
Thank you for always working hard.
I'm a silent watcher and have been for years but I do think I should leave more messages to my favourite TH-camrs at time is important so if you're reading this please have a lovely week.
❤
I’m from RI, and I have never heard about this case before. Thank you for covering it and getting the word out there
As a Rhode Islander myself, I honestly don't recall this ever being mentioned on local news; however, I was only 16 years old at the time. I hope answers can be found so the family can have closure.
Same! I recall it being mentioned on the news when it happened, and then never heard anything else again.
My mother is from providence RI. And doesn't remember much about this case either just mentioned in the news but no updates
I do remember this going on here in Cranston and I was disappointed with how it was handled. Praying for Justice.
Glad you were able to learn more, a huge goal for Natalia was expanding the knowledge of Shawn's case throughout RI!
I'm from EP and never heard of this case as well. Kinda shocking since RI is a state where it seems like everyone knows everyone.
If Natalia reads this.
Your dad is so proud of you for going above and beyond to get him justice. You are amazing. I am so so sorry and I hope these criminals get the punishment they deserve. My deepest condolences.
My heart breaks for this family, especially Natalia. How is this not being investigated further by authorities? This poor man was clearly murdered.
As someone that grew up in RI, how Cranston PD is responding isn't shocking to me. I never saw anything about this story while living at home. It's beyond disappointing that they won't just give Natalia the documents she needs.
From Iceland thank you for spreading this case, he deserves justice!
He couldn’t be more proud of you, I don’t know you but I couldn’t be more proud of you either!
thank you!!
May the memories of love outweigh the grief of loss.
So well said ❤
This case is so.tragic and I pray that Natalia gets the justice she deserves.
Thank you for covering so many cases and trying to help these families. Way to make my Monday again. Love u 😘
I hope she can get the justice her father deserves.
Sending Shawn's daughter and loved ones all my support and condolences. I'm so sorry they are still going through all this!
Natalia is so well spoken, Shawn is lucky to have a daughter like her. RIP 😢
Not only that, but you also help so so much with fundraising for these families. Keep up all the good work you do, Kendall
Who are the other ones you trust?
@@chelseaxoxo784 Reignbot, while not necessarily strictly being true crime, has made quite a few videos on disturbing crimes and disappearances, and she usually does so from an objective, unbiased, and non-sensationalized standpoint. She's really the only other one I can think of at this point.
I must say, Natalia is a rockstar! Her daddy would be so proud of her fighting for justice! I pray they’re able to have some sort of answers soon!
That is so sad how the Cranston police handled the case and still handle. I really hope that justice can be served one day. All the best of luck to you Natalia. Thank you Kendall for covering cases like this one and many others.
It’s so obvious why the police aren’t investigating this further, because they know they fucked up and want to “protect their own”. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Natalia you’re doing so good for your daddy and you look just like him ! ❤
Yes she does and he would be so proud of her
My boyfriend’s family is all from Cranston and I’ve never heard Shawn’s story before. Will definitely be sharing his story with all of them and see if they’ve heard about it or know anything at all. My heart goes out to his daughter and I pray she gets answers 🤍
Incredible work your doing Kendall! It's all about the victims and survivors. I hope Natalia goes full "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" and gets justice.
Stay strong Natalia. What you’re doing for your Dad is so just and so amazing. Sending prayers and support you get the answers and closure you so desperately deserve. Kendall, you and your team are amazing ❤
Kendall thank you so much for covering this case. I have heard this case before from another true crime TH-camrs, but now I have the resources to help his daughter’s mission. Rest in peace too Shawn and I hope answers rest his families heart.
I live five minutes away from where he died. This is the first I'm hearing of this case! I'm so sorry that it hasn't been more well known before this. I'm so happy that Kendall has brought your case to light Natalia! Thank you for sharing how we can help. X
As someone who suffers from seizures my whole life and been rushed to the ER a few times, I appreciate you talking about how seizures work. I will try to support Shawn any way I can.
Omg ! My family lives in Cranston RI! It’s so crazy? 😢 glad that his daughter keeps fighting for her father even though he’s a recovering addict and imperfect. We all make mistakes and that doesn’t make us any less worth while. Hoping all the best for this family. ❤️
Natalia is so well-spoken and grounded in her cause ❤ So sorry for her loss. Hoping for justice here.
I just started the video, but I have to say how much I appreciate these family involved videos. There's true crime for entertainment and there's true crime to try to make a difference and to do something when you feel helpless. Sending this family so much love and support. Thanks for trusting this audience with your story.
thank you!
Lifelong RI resident here. Thank you for covering this case as many people in RI don’t know. The timing of this video … St. Mary’s Feast in Cranston starts tonight.
Natalia - if you are reading this, you are amazing. You are so admirable for what you do and the effort you have given to get justice. Major respect for you as a human being.
thank you!
The lack of police work on this case had me yelling at my phone in the bathroom. (I'm getting ready for work, which is why I'm in the bathroom) I can't imagine the frustration and pain because of the lack of investigation that this poor family is going through! This makes me furious. 🤬
It’s so crazy to hear you talk about a case so close to where I live. This poor family. Thank you so much for covering cases with the level of respect and care that you do. 💛
My dad died 7/13/23 from dementia and Alzheimer’s.
That being said, I knew what my dad died from. If I was Natalia, I would be BURNING DOWN THE WORLD, and that is why this burden is given to her and not me.
Will be donating. I’m so sorry for her.
I live in MA only 20 min from Cranston and had no knowledge of this case. So glad you covered this family's story, my heart goes out to them and they definitely have my support!
Natalia, this case speaks to me. My own birth father struggled with drug addiction. And I did not know him. I found out he died when I was 16. I recently found out apparently he had a seizure near a pool and hit his head and drowned.. But as far as I know, he wasn’t known for having seizures.i hope you find out what really happened. Love from Texas!
I know True Crime is supposed to be nerve wrecking - but the way Kendall tells every story just brings me a sense of calm and peace. If there were Emmy's for TH-camr's.. Kendall would deserve every award. She is a STELLAR storyteller ✨
I’m from Rhode Island and hear about this case all the time! Thanks for sharing this case, I’ll be sharing this video on my fb!
I’m overwhelmed with happiness for Natalia simply because having Kendall Rae reach out to you personally and offer her assistance has got to be the most wonderful feeling of stepping in the right direction. I can’t think of anyone better to help than Kendall!
This is weird I live in RI, and I went to St. Mary's feast that day. That night, I worked trauma that night at the hospital. Now I remember this now. I never knew what happened to this poor man. I didn't think to me this was right. Now knowing what happened after he left us, I feel terrible. Thank you for giving this to us.
I grew up in Cranston Rhode Island and I just SMH at how the police handled this case. Sadly I didn't hear about this case. I really hope they get answers and justice for her dad. ❤
I just looked at the gofundme and so many in this community have already donated. It's heartwarming to see how kendalls work really does make so much of a difference ❤ over 30 donations since this video has been posted, including Kendall Rae herself❤ we CAN make a difference with these stories and I hope she gets the justice she deserves!
you are doing so much important work kendall. honestly, like. you are an amazing person
i hope justice will be served.
I wish you the best Natalia, no one deserves what your Dad went thru or what you are going thru now. Stay strong, he is with you.
Poor Natalia. Losing her dad and being blocked from getting the truth, information and justice. I couldn’t even imagine! 😭. She seems like such a lovely, passionate and level headed woman. I give my respect to her and hope she gets the answers she deserves. Following on social media from here in Scotland! All my love ❤
Rhode Island native here. Never heard of this case, our state is so small I'm shocked there was no coverage. Thank you for bringing cases like this to light and for all that you do, you're amazing. Justice for Shawn!
1st of all: the evidence shows there was NO WAY it could be a seizure... 2nd of all: I understand how frustrating it can be and my heart goes out to you Natalia
As a Cranston, RI native and someone in recovery this story hits very close to home. Bless you for never demonizing addiction and sharing his story with grace
