    FYI. Step 2 - Open clean water faucet and depressurize the system, means to "completely drain your tank".

    Is there a way to sanitize the filters and RO membrane? If you re-install the same filters and RO membrane are you not possibly re-contaminating your RO system with the same bacteria you just killed?

      The process is quite time-consuming. Considering the fact that you could get the entire set of filters (and the membrane) from Amazon for around $40, you might as well replace all the filters when you sanitize your system.

      Best to do this the same time you change the filter/membrane.

    What if my system does not have filter housing? I've one of those you just twist the filter on...

    Do I leave the post carbon on there? In the video there’s no mention about what to do with the post carbon filter, I can safely use it again after the sanitization?

    • @igorchmil2406
      @igorchmil2406 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Carbon filter will get ruined by the sanitizer. This may be the reason why some people report the sanitizer taste after flushing the system multiple times. You either have to remove it and replace with a bypass tubing, or sanitize with the filter in place and then replace it with a new one.

      I know that probably after a year-old comment you probably figure it out, but I just want to post my reply anyways to guide anyone else looking for the same answer, this video is very bad.
      This video is completely wrong and misinformative, the correct way is in this video, do not go with what they say here or you will ruin your last stage carbon filter, also the product goes into the first housing which is the sediment filter, this video should be taken down.
      The correct way to use the product and to protect your filters is explained here: th-cam.com/video/5xfCf399SwE/w-d-xo.html

    Can someone please explain how the system, in its entirety, can be sanitized if the filters are removed with the intention to replace existing filters? Let’s say you store the filters in sterile containment, then reinstall them. In this situation, wouldn’t the preexisting contaminates be reintroduced into the system when the preexisting filters are reinstalled? I may be missing something here but please explain, I’m sure there are others with this same question.
    Educating the consumer to the function and reason of use is a major selling point, at least it should be. After all, the video opens with a dire warning of the health hazards associated with drinking water from a poorly maintained RO system.
    Thank you in advance for your response

    Maybe just run a uv filter and do it once a year. Keep in mind if you use and ultraviolet filter, you gotta have stainless steel fittings and hosing and the hosing must be at least 10 inches in length so the UV doesn’t eat at the hoses and plastic fittings. A lot of cheap UV units they try to sell you have plastic fittings right on the UV housing itself, which is not good!
    They’re called point of use UV sanitizers.

    A couple of problems. Reinstalling the filters with the unit lying on its back is a very bad idea. The unit should be upright. Also, the technician should wear gloves, or at least wash his hands well, before handling the cartridges and membrane. Also, the sink or other container the cartridges are stored in should be sanitized. It's more likely there are "harmful" bacteria in the sink or on the technicians hand than inside the RO unit.

      They don't care - they want to sell their products - more and more ) agreed with almost everything but not "Reinstalling the filters with the unit lying on its back is a very bad idea." why?! did it 5 times - with no issues! it's easier! maybe more proper way to do it upright, but I see no point to do so for now.

      Michael Cher yea I work in water treatment and service ro units on a daily basis. never ran into the issue of pressure issues or air locking from installing horizontally, even tho I don't really ever do it. also, I doubt they are installing them horizontally, they were just showing it that way for ease of instruction. notice how they used the same clip for the multiple times they said install filters, and when the sump is full of the sanitizer obviously you can't tip it over like that.
      on topic tho, we use sani-system for sanitizing our customers units, and it really does work very well. however I recommend using two packets per unit instead of one.

    • @MrProproducts

      Great points by Mr. Franks. To comment on a couple other points. We actually recommend only using one packet for the simple fact that it does get the kill rate that you need. When you use more than that amount you might have issues with flushing the unit afterwards. It was taking too long to remove all the residual. Secondly, we use the video as an example of how to use our product. Yes, you should be wearing gloves, and make sure your tools are sanitized, and all services your work on are clean. If you have other questions, please give us a call. We have had great feedback in the industry with this product. Dealers seem to like it much better than the alternative. Thanks for the feedback.

    If the sani-system solution isn't completely rinsed out, would it damage the membrane?

    • @MrProproducts
      @MrProproducts  ปีที่แล้ว

      The membrane should be removed when sanitizing an R.O system. Keeping the membrane installed will hold the Sani-System and prevent it from sanitizing the bladder/water tank. If membrane is left in, you should do 2 to 3 rinses of the bladder tank once it’s filled back up with water.

      Hi Kelly, the first main housing on your R.O. system is where the water first enters the R.O. system going through the pre-filter and post filter and then into the bladder tank.

    • @MrProproducts
      @MrProproducts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Terri - No. That’s one of the benefits of using Sani-System over chlorine bleach. The contact kill time of bleach is usually 20 to 30 minutes.

    Followed video exactly and used new filters. Water tasted like sanitizer. Horrible. Bought an extra set of filters ($$), flushed it out FOUR TIMES with tap water and it still tastes like sanitizer. Unacceptable. I'm tossing the entire system into the trash and going with a commercial water delivery company.
