Interesting to hear how she handles the high notes on this one compared to Born Different. On born different she has the depth of a cello with really stretched vocal cords before going for the high notes which allows her to get a great mix between chest/head voice. I love how androgynous she sounds on that song. I don't think she sings bad on this one, it's more like she decided to sing in a different manner (reminds me more of Iggy Pop than Bowie). It's a belted out and open sound compared to the almost operatic qualities of born different. The word success being slightly sour just gives it some extra desperation. Anyway, I love her voice and while I understand that the music she does today is important to her I really wish we had more rock recordings.
Bit of a long shot here considering this comment is four months old, but can you point me towards some of her current music? I only discovered Drill Queen recently and I'm struggling to even find out the members names, let alone what they went on to do. I'm curious what they're up to these days even if it's very different.
@@grasparmag Delilah Black If you look around you can find some hi-res version (well at least higher) of the songs. She's making americana but I've heard some rock songs as well.
Honestly this is probably my favorite song from them
Great Bowie vibe!
