2.4s is insane of a difference. They say that 10kg is worth about 0.3s per lap. the 2023 car could carry a 2nd passenger and it would do the same lap time
If not for Alonso's bad oversteer in the final corner, the car is easily 1 - 1.5 tenths faster than Q3 timing. It will put this year's car at a comfortable 2.5 seconds faster than last year
You can really see how much faster the 2023 car is getting off the corner, and it seems like it carry's the speed much better in the mid corner as well.
@@izanagisburden9465 Red Bull were fast in 2009 as well they finished 2nd in the constructors and had drivers finish 2nd and 4th respectively and were the faster car in the 2nd half of the season easily. So Red Bull is definitely not an example here

Yep it is pretty astonishing. As an Alonso fan I'm over the moon he's fighting at the front again. The RB may be quicker but the fact that he's now got a car capable of atleast a podium finish is amazing. The AM is comfortably the 2nd quickest car. Too quick for Merc and Ferrari but not quick enough to challenge RB. It's a nice problem to have. I hope they can close the gap to RB. Dan Follows has done wonders. I remember when the AM move was announced by Alonso. I was shocked and fearing the worst. Alpine are now just another team without Alonso.
It seems breaking but is not. Yes you gain some more time in the breaking because the aerodynamics of the car are much better, but most of the time is during the corners itself. It's absurd how much better the car is in terms of aerodynamics, it makes de car much more stable, but more flexible during corners, being able to carry much more speed. That's where the time is.
There is no difference in straight line speed. In fact, the 2022 machine is sometimes faster. However, every time they enter a corner, there is a big difference. This is the major difference between the 2022 and 2023 machines.
More or less the same difference between red bull and the rest 😢 I hope Aston Martin could get closer before the summer break. 2023 is a great year to enjoy F1, what Aston Martin achieved is unbelievable, and with Alonso the show is asured, but the battle for the title, if it happens, will be between team mates VER and PER apparently
I think you should have used Alonso's Q1 lap instead of his Q3 lap, for a more precise comparison, because of track evolution. And maybe Alonso was pushing more in Q3 than Hülkenberg was in Q1. Edit: Alonso's Q1 lap was only about 6 tenths faster than Hülkenberg's.
All the people saying driver accounts for the difference 😂 Difference between all the drivers on the grid is a fraction of a percentage for fastest lap everything else being equal

For consistency, this should have been done with Stroll.
Stroll's own performances are inconsistent because of his injuries this year. This is more representative imo
Stroll is anything but consistent

I believe drivers factor is quite important for this comparison
The Aston Martin AMR23 has been completely revised.
This is pretty absurd. I've never in my 15 years of watching F1 seen a team a year after rule changes make such a giant leap of pace.

Crazy that leclerc 22 and verstappen 23 had wildly different racing lines, but these 2 were basically the same line

2.4 seconds 🤨🤔😮

Its not only about the car but the driver. I bet Alonso could have got better results with the AM 2022
How do you get the data for these animations?
Isn't it more like 1.5s? The fastest time was from Q1 not from Q2.
This is cool can we have mclaren 2022 vs 2023?
The main difference is the drivers
Not a good demonstration, alonso would pull atleast a sec on hulkenberg even in the same car xd
I am very confused now because I have just come from another video saying the 2023 car brakes later but this animation shows the opposite?
but is alonso was in aston at same time as vettel , alonso would have been much higger up as well

Nico is better on the brakes than Fernando by the looks of it but the new car is obviously faster overall

So way better accel and cornering slightly worse top speed?
Why is the 2022 car not Sebastian's number 5? Unacceptable.

We need Ferrari vs Ferrari
RB 18 vs RB 19, plis
but the question is how ?
This is how fast is Alonso, not aston...
