CRAFT FAIR BEST SELLER! BOWL KOOZIES! EASY AND FUN TO MAKE!

  • Hi friends!
    I hope you enjoyed this video!
    The bowl koozie is made out of two 10 x 10 squares of fabric and two 10 x 10 pieces of fusible fleece. I buy my fusible fleece usually at Joann fabrics. The cute Ramen noodle fabric came from Walmart.
     I use polyester thread -Guetterman brand. My stitch length is 2 1/2.
     This bowl koozie should not be put in the microwave unless you use cotton products when I sell these I make sure to let the customer know that they are like a pot holder and do not put them in the microwave.
     Big hugs! Deanna🌸🌸

    I have made bowl cozies before for personal use. If you plan to use them in the microwave be sure to use only 100% cotton materials. Fabric, thread and 100% cotton batting called Pellons Wrap n Zap. No polyester as it could catch fire in the microwave.

      Yes that is what I put in the description box. My bowl Koozies are just a pot holder for bowls. Not to microwave use

    Awesome video! I love how quick they come together! That fabric is super duper cute!
    I can't tell you how many I made a few Christmases ago. A friend and I got together and we made several for gifts for her family and friends, and mine, as well. Some were dog prints, cats, camo, butterflies, tacos...we had alot of cute fabrics. She would cut the squares out and I'd sew them together for awhile. Then we'd switch and I would cut and she would sew. It was a very fun afternoon! And this happened all because of your tutorial years ago! 😍
    Thanks again for showing your wonderful techniques!
    Happy crafting!
    Hugs 🥰 Suzy

    Deana I just wanted to comment on how nice your items look. I was taught in school (sewing class) that to make items look professional, always press. Just like you do. Thanks

    At our church sale last week, we had about 15 cozies. Despite knowing they would sell out, we we surprised they went so fast. (We price at $8.) The other person who makes that item went home and brought back her whole stash and they sold, too. During the pandemic, a friend asked if I had enough fabric to make 22 for her to give as gifts. Was able to make them all, including some generalized requests (sports, masculine) and the only thing I had to order to finish was batting. I’m a sewer (sexist?) so you won’t be surprised that it hardly dented my stash!!!

    I’m from Canada and our Walmart hasn’t got much & it’s very expensive so when I visited my brother in the states I was able to pick up that material (I love it too) so I am going to make some bowl kookies for my craft fair this December….I hope they sell as well here! Thanks for all your TH-cam videos you always explain so well which makes it east to follow! ❤️ I purchased lots of material & fusible fleece backing….going to make some book pillows also! Appreciate you and all other crafty TH-camrs who teach us so many things!

    I don't have a sewing machine so I wouldn't make this for me but it's beautiful. I can't see well anymore like I used to sew the hand stitch would probably take me forever. But you whip through that with no problem I wish I had some. But nice job I really love it.

    IF you use 100% cotton fabric, thread and batting you can put the cozy in the microwave which is the purpose of it so you don't burn your hands on a hot bowl.

    Would you give us the specific name for the fusible batting? Can this batting be used in the microwave? I’ve heard you have to have a specific kind because it can catch fire.

    • @CraftyCraftsByDeanna
      @CraftyCraftsByDeanna  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I put information in the description box I usually use Pellon fusible batting I use a low loft batting
      You cannot put polyester in the microwave but bowl koozies are not meant to go in the microwave they are only meant to be as a bowl holder to keep your hands from burning

    • @shannie586
      @shannie586 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pellon sells a product called wrap and zap that is 100% cotton and microwave safe for short periods of time as long as you use it with 100% cotton fabric and thread, and there are no metallic designs on the fabric that could spark. This batting has no scrim, which makes it different from regular cotton quilt batting. It works fine but leaves a lot of fluff behind as you sew, and doesn’t hold its shape quite as nicely as the fusible fleece does
