  • Circuit bending Newer Vtech toys are a bit of a challenge for me. Extra tiny SMD parts and multiple black blobs hiding the main circuitry make it hard to get past the intended sounds.
I used 28 gauge wires to solder and an LTC1799 for pitch bend and a couple of thumbtacks for body contact points, but after trying voltage starve and resistor/capacitor connections, it suddenly failed to work. Found where the magic smoke came from and bypassed a few components to find it mostly worked.
I'll probably quit while i'm ahead.

I would enjoy that, and can hardly imagine how busy you are with a million things. Still, i look forward to being a part!

Have you ever seen or heard of this toy before?
It’s like a frog but it’s a drum and it has drum pads and it was made by Playschool
The toy has three big buttons which make drum sounds And which are drum pads and then it has another button type thing which is the symbol which I believe can be moved around it also has a recording playback function and it assigned the recordings to music originally when you press the play button it says hop to the music or something like that but when you press the record button you can record anything The microphone is built into the device The toy has various other sound effects including different drum samples and frog samples it also has various musical styles and effects the toy I believe even had its own pitch controller with a limited range as well but it had a big speaker on off switch was by the speaker which was a push button switch that when you would push it it would go in and stuff like that I think there were some weird plastic drumsticks that came with it but it’s a pretty toy It’s a pretty interesting toy
Why I thought about this toy it’s because I thought that this toy might be the perfect toy for a bender to get their hands on and it glitches sometimes as well with all of its capabilities and it sounds it could be a great toy band A great toy to bend
There’s also another toy that is like a jukebox that has kind of like a touchscreen control which is kind of hard and interesting it has an on off button volume control knob and I believe even speed control then you could add different effects like different effects like a dog barking and other things like that I think you could record on it as well and I think it’s called silly sounds jukebox but it would be great to bend

Did you manage to bend the kittyplayer? that’s the device that hooks onto the activity center and can record stuff it looks like a cheesy iPad type of thing from the 2000s because I believe this toy was a designed around 2009 2010 but yeah that little gadget is supposed to slide into the slot and it’s supposed to play whatever you record on the keyboard and it’s supposed to like export it onto that little player thing and you could take it out I believe there’s a microphone and a headphone and a microphone input but I don’t know how it would work as a standalone device

Yeah, and that's why i had to use the LTC1799 - but still managed to half-kill it once.
