I've got one of a similar design and use it for my Gopros when I can't tether them down to the car. I don't know about DSLRs but its rock solid mount with Gopros.
I finally got my new camera, so I just ordered this to mount it on my windshield to make TH-cam videos. (Not while driving, of course!) I can't wait to try it out, and see if this will work as well as others have said. Thanks for the amazing review.
I bought one, but won't trust mounting the camera without some sort of cushion beneath to catch my camera safely in the event it should fall from the mounted position due to the cups failing.
So a year after you posted this video, would u still recommend this device? Have you had any challenges with it? Have you found something that u like better?
T Rex It was a sound effect 😂. When I listened to the audio before exporting the video and heard myself grunt when I pulled on the camera, I figured that sound effect would be fitting lol :)
Nature Lover it needs to be a smooth surface without any texture, like a window, or clean metal. It’s not made for dashboards. Perhaps a car door, window, hood, trunk, or something similar.
MrXelsior, my apologies for the delay, I just saw your comment. Whether or not it stays down on a surface greatly depends on the texture of the surface. If your dash is not smooth (has bumps and/or other textures), the suction cups will likely not stay. Ultimately, I don't think a dashboard is the primary function that this is designed for. Mainly glass, smooth metal or painted surfaces, countertops, etc... Hope this helps :)
Well done dude. Thank you. I'm looking for a mount just like this for my Canon 80D. I want to do a few vlogs in my car as I drive, and this would be great for that. Have you tested this mount on a dashboard? do you think the mount will stick on a dashboard? or is it only for glass? Thanks again.
+Michael Hurdle Production Studio Thanks for the comment :) Honestly, the surface of your dashboard makes a huge difference in whether it will stick or not. It won’t stick on mine, because the surface has a texture that isn’t smooth enough for the suction cups to stay stuck to. This may sound silly, or possibly a danger, but you could stick the mount on the inside of your windshield and have your camera upside down. Then simply rotating the video in your editing software 180 degrees would bring it back right side up. Or, if you think a suction cup would actually stay stuck to the surface of your dash, and it’s semi-flat enough for all three cups to adhere, the dashboard thing could work. Hope this helps :)
Hiro's Aviation Thank you! You know, I'm not sure... what type of camera would you be using? You may be able to get a GoPro to tilt back around and face out through the window. I will attach my GoPro today and see if it will reach. I'll let you know what I find :)
Ima buy one. The fart closed the deal.
Primo Nando I didn't realize I was such a salesman haha

Any solution to mount a camera in a car so there's no vibration? Something that can be mounted without drilling holes and compromising the interior.

Will this mount to ANY kind of dashboard. My suction cups wouldn't even stay down on my dashboard.

Excellent review! Do you think I could shoot something with the suction mount on an airplane window, shooting out? Thanks :)
