Ashley has a beautiful soprano voice, but hearing her start in that glorious alto register was amazing! She was introduced to Voiceplay by Cesar when they did a last minute change of selection. The piece she did with them is If I Were A Rich Man/Girl and it is wonderful. She has done several with them. Rachel Potter is the most frequent female collaborator. Try her with them in the Little Mermaid Medley.
There a few women they've done several performances with - the most, and the one that goes back the furthest with them, is Rachel Potter. Rachel was most recently in Classical Chaos. In Wicked, they had both Rachel and Emoni Wilkins.
@@MrsRealistic Check out Rachel Pottr, she has a gorgeous voice. She did a lot of the Disney performances (Moana, Little Mermaid, Phantom of the Opera etc) and really does an excellent job of getting that Disney Princess tone. BUT - she also did Attention and Chandelier and some others with a very different tone and still that gorgeous voice. Away fr. VP she's done both on and off Broadway, lives in Nashville and sings country. Very broad skills.
Thanks for your reaction! Yes, Ashley and Cesar are long time friends that share a lot of the same social circles in Central Florida's Spanish community, Disney, and their work in local side projects in the community. Ashley sang with Disney's prestigious 'Voices Of Liberty' choir and sings in one of the songs used for the end of the night fireworks show at Disney World. She has done a few with Voice Play (my favorites are "We Don't Talk About Bruno and "Running Up That Hill" from 'Stranger Things'). Cesar was in charge of the 80's costuming in this one. Cesar is very much into theater projects and stays busy with that locally as well as traveling to appear in shows. There was a cover of this that was released as a duet in Spanish that was very popular in Puerto Rico where Ashley and Cesar are from and I loved the nod they gave to that cover.
I got to manage a video arcade back 40 yrs ago or so. It brought back a lot of memories so having Ashley and Cesar find each other in an arcade but it wasn't to be. Ashley and Cesar's families were in Puerto Rico and came to the Orlando because it was growing so fast and needed workers. You can see Ashley and VoicePlay - If I Were a Rich Man/Girl, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Running Up That Hill, and a bunch of shorts/minis - Time Warp, Shero Reacts, Your Turn to Role, River, The Pink Panther Theme, Super Mario 2, Sonic the Hedgehog, Como La Flor, Surface Pressure. If you want the translations for the Spanish: Ashley: De vez en cuando siento que me estas olvidando y que no regresaras. De vez en cuando pienso que ya estoy muy cansada. De estar sola y de escucharme llorar. From time to time I feel that you are forgetting me and that you will not return. From time to time I think that I am already very tired. Of being alone and hearing myself cry. Singers: Mira mis ojas. Look at my eyes. Cesar: De vez encuando siento enloquecer. From time to time I feel crazy. Cesar: Eclipse total del amor. Total eclipse of love.
VP has done a number of vids with Ashley Diane. My personal fave is If I Were a Rich Man/Girl. And several with Rachel Potter. Fave: Little Mermaid Medley. And several with Adriana Arellano. Fave: You're a Mean One, Mr Grinch. (save it for Christmas)
I know exactly what you mean about a song becoming forever linked to a movie. The one that resonates the strongest for me - the timeline of the movie is a match for my own - is Simple Minds' _Don't You (Forget about Me)_ from the _Breakfast Club_ . Seeing someone throw their fist in the air is like putting the needle on the record for that song...as you said, "If you know, you know". Loved the reaction.
Oh heck yeah! Same here! That song will forever be The Breakfast Club song... same goes for the Friends intro song, "I'll be there for you" by the Rembrandts!
Heartbroken Cesar kills me. Such a pretty version of this song. They've done other videos with Ashley. Running Up That Hill, If I Were aRich Man/Girl, We Don't Talk About Bruno (hilarious) are some of them 😊
Hi! Ashley is awesome. She and Cesar are friends. She also did "We don't talk about Bruno" and "If I was a rich man/girl" with VP. Both are incredible. Thanks for the reaction! Was looking fwd to it. 😉🌹🕊
@@MrsRealistic If you haven’t seen the movie, you might think about just watching a clip of this particular song so that you know who the characters are. I confess, I watched the movie after watching this because I couldn’t figure out who all the people were. I wish I’d done it the other way around. It’s a great production even without knowing the storyline, but it’s funnier if you can put things in context. If you decide not to watch the movie, the family is full of characters with special powers. Bruno has the “gift” of prophecy. When his less than ideal predictions come true he is blamed, so he is seen as the bad guy.
With the exception of J None (who sort of doesn't count as a guest) Ashley is hands-down my favorite guest/featured artist who sings with VP. I just looked, and I don't see "We Don't Talk About Bruno" in your video list. Not only is it one of their best covers EVER, but it ALSO features Ashley Diane in HER best performance with VP EVER (my opinion, of course). Great reaction!!
Ashley and Cesar are both Puerto Rican. The last video they did with a female before this was "Classical Chaos" with Rachel Potter. A medley of 12 classical music pieces. They brought back their characters from "In The Hall of The Mountain King" with Elizabeth Garazzo. "Hide and Seek" with Lauren Paley. They have featured many females in the past. Especially Rachel and Ashley. And especially in the last 3 years when J None left to sing in the US Navy Chorus and Cesar joined to replace his spot.
@@MrsRealistic You're very welcome 🤗. Just a heads-up.... Voiceplay released their new video on their Patreon Saturday. Don't know when it will be premiering on TH-cam yet though. It's fantastic. Be prepared for lots of low bass as Geoff is one of our favorite Disney villains.
And I made the mistake of going to look at the clip of the movie you mentioned, and now I know, and I really wish I didn''t. 😛 If anyone is looking at the comments to see if they should go look at the clip, let me just say, "Don't." Especially if you're not a fan of having foul language added to a song that doesn't have any in it. I need to go wash my brain out with soap now. Great reaction, by the way. :) I think my favorite moment from the video, in terms of the acting, is when they share a drink, and Casar is looking at Ashley as he drinks ... oh, to be 30 years younger! LOL Musically, my favorite moment is Cesar's last "Once upon a time, there was light in my life" -- that little variation on the melody is just wonderful -- I love it so much!!
I think you'd love VP's latest, Be Prepared from The Lion King - Cesar and Geoff really show off their acting skills in that one! And they bring back someone from VoicePlay's past, Mykal Kilgore, who was an original member when the group of singers that eventually morphed into VoicePlay first started out. Cesar de la Rosa and Ashley Diane Rosa (not related) are both originally from Porto Rico, so the Spanish comes pretty naturally to them. It was a surprise for me, as I hadn't watched the preview version on Patreon, so it took me a little out of the song at first - now that I know the history better, it makes a lot more sense.
both Cesar and Ashley are puerto rican, which is why they speak spanish. Cesar also speaks a good bit of Japanese after working there for a year, so does Eli.
So you have to totally check out if I Were a Rich Man from voice play and we don't talk about Bruno which features Miss Ashley Diane. Also you should check out The Little Mermaid and Moana medley which features Rachel Potter. Also I think they released something recent with Rachel Potter called classical chaos which is absolutely fantastic loving your reactions

@MrsRealistic - I've not seen the movie either! Maybe you can just watch the original song and then VPs version 😉?
